Not really, I usually add the frozen grated carrots to a curry or pasta and they cook really quickly. Mushrooms do turn very weird and squishy when frozen though. I'm not making that mistake again.:D0 -

Solstice_3 - £5 – its up to you if you count any fruit if it is mouldy when you buy it...personally, I check it before I put it in my trolley and if one has escaped my notice I tend to take the whole lot back for a refund!! Dried apple is lovely....I grind it to powder for my hm museli & granola.....great way to get sweetness without sugar! 1 minute summer fruit ice-cream sounds great – do you want to share the recipe??
Summer fruit ice cream - Use frozen fruit stick it in a blender or processor with some cream or yogurt, add some honey (tsp) for sweetness. Add the cream / yogurt a bit at a time so it doesn't go too thin and blitz until it's nice and thick and smooth. Stick it in a pot in the freezer or eat straight awayIf you are going to freeze it you need to take it out 30 minutes or so before you eat it to soften it as it goes quite hard. You can make strawberry/raspberry ice cream but freezing the fruit before hand.
Frogletina wrote: »Are you trying to make it with bread that is quite fresh? With shop bought white bread I would say that you would need to leave it a few days. I make wholemeal bread and that crumbs up really easily in a food processor.
If I am using fresh bread and I don't have time to let it go stale or if I am using bread ends from the freezer I stick it in the oven on a low heat to defrost and dry out.
Happy coincidence today, had no onions in the house and was making pork meatballs so I chopped up some on the turn spring onions as a replacement. Also made ham and cheese muffins using that pesky corn - thanks for the suggestions guys

Made macaroni cheese tonight, using up some slightly OOD cream and some of the Christmas cheese. It was lovely, if rather fattening
There is some left for my lunch for work tomorrow
Froze half a lurking lemon towards another batch of marmalade, and the rest of the HM cranberry sauce left over from NY, though it has so much booze in it, it probably won't freeze solid :rotfl:0 -

having spag bol tonight so I intend to be careful with the amount of spaghetti i cook i always do way to much any ideas for measuring anyone?
75-100g dry weight per person is a good starting point - obviously check by eye once you have weighed it to make sure it looks enough/not excessive as it very much depends on your portion sizes, but it's a place to decent place to start!!
I am going to make a beetroot and apple salad with the dodgy looking beetroot that I have in my fridge at the moment...I will probably just do a simple coconut, lentil and rice dish for dinner...quick, easy, cheap and the beetroot salad goes well with it!!Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Hi all, I've just had a tidy up of the kitchen cupboards and found some spice/herb sachets from old el paso kits. They are about 6 mths OOD, but I'm wondering if they will be OK to use as it is just dried spices. What do you think?I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0

They'll be fine, just probably not as strong as when they are at their best. So use a bit more than you usually would.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
