  • HI can i join in too? I have 3 children though who do not allways eat everything on thier plate and or spread in on the floor (not keen on recycling that food lol) generally if tehres left over uneaten veg it gets scooped up and turned into something else.

Today for example i made a sort of bubble and squeak curry patties which where very nice with the last drop of ploughmans chutney in the jar.

Tonight is mushroom stroganoff (sp) thats been lurking in the freezer about 6 months! carbonarra type thing..i do not have enough dried pasta so im going to attempt to make it again (second time lucky?) Add half an onion that needs using up.

Tomorrows tea must involve sprouts ..perhaps stir fry..Although i have no meat and only carrots to go with it lol.

Can i be put down for 6oz in waste please (this is mostly weetabix ..sigh!) Will keep all the scraps and weigh each day x

Another little confession - 3 satsumas slung out - gone all mouldy and yukky so they had to go. (about 30p, £1 for 1)
Been shopping today and only bought what I really needed so hopefully that will be the waste for this week.

I'm up to 50p waste now:(

Tonight I am haveing brussels, spring greens (fresh) and mashed potato from the freezer with a shoulder chop I dug out of the freezer which I will coat in dried sage and onion stuffing and cook in my Remoska.I have also retrieved from the freezer a bag of chopped Rhubarb that I put in there last April Thats going to be cooked in a little water with some honey and a spoonful of cinnamon (my favourite spice) then I shall use up some of the milk in the fridge and make a nice custard to cover it .Three days pud easily for me.
I have a bag of five peppers in the fridge which cost me 60p as they were reduced and I may get some minced beef from the freezer tonight and stuff one tomorrow for lunch. If there is any green stuff left over from tonights dinner I will do bubble and squeek for mondays dinner with some chopped peppers and diced bacon and onion. Food is going to be extended this month as far as I can get it to go :):):)

I bought some smoked salmon yesterday (Sainsbo's trimmings, 90p) because DD claimed she needed it as "brain food" for revision.

It wasn't very nice-full of grey chewy lumps (even the cat wouldn't eat those bits), so I've blended the remainder (including the lumps) and added it to the mixed veg mash I had left over from a couple of days ago. Fishcakes...and they went down very well.

I've frozen a pizza that was lurking in the fridge, as well as the chopped-up sausages I was planning to add to soup.

Tomato and lentil soup in slow cooker...will blend in bowl of roasted peppers when done.

    Still eating rice pudding!!

Have a packet of sunblush tomatoes and little mozzarella cheeses with a sell-by of 10 Jan. Any suggestions?
    import this

I would chop them up and mix with pasta - or pizza topping?

Confession to make - I bought FAR too much food for Christmas this time :o

I don't usually chuck food out - against my religion :rotfl:

But, a wedge of chocolate cake that OH and I couldn't quite plough through, and the remains of the Christmas pudding  went to the chickens this morning  This followed some cream and coleslaw that had seen better days - into the bin with those though, as it was too messy for the chickens.

I have now done a freezer inventory, and I have an embarrassingly HUGE amount of food. I have now done a meal plan for the week, and bought only items needed to go with what I already have. Result = very small shopping bill :D

Must keep it up! Probably no need to buy much for months!

In the meantime, I have cream that needs using up, lemons, bananas, carrots and cheeses. Must get thinking cap on!

Only me eating here today, so I finished off some home made soup and had some of cheese and some biscuits to go with it :)
  • Oh dear - threw away our first items today - found a bag of green, mouldy nectarines in the bottom of the fridge - still with their £1 sticker on them. Not entirely sure how we've missed them.

Made a pie/tart type thing with DD today using up some sad onions, the last of the Christmas Wensleydale & cranberry cheese and some of the breadcrumbs I made yesterday. It's really nice so will have that for lunch again tomorrow and Monday as there is loads left.

Just making the Nigella Clementine cake which smells amazing!

Made some peppermint creams with stuff I found when I sorted out my baking shelf today, also found 3 bags of ground almonds which meant I didn't have to buy any for the clementine cake :j

DH got paid finally today so did a huge shop this evening, carefully planned out last night so I could work out where to incorporate everything. Having great fun doing this challenge!

Now just to force feed DH the last 3 clementines...
