Thanks both - having looked at it this afternoon in more detail I don't think it seems worth it, especially given the extra for Caesars/Rio Seafood.

Will stick with our Cosmo/Wynn/M combo and throw in some old favourites for lunch like In N Out, Hot N Juicy, Memphis BBQ etc..... I'm sure we won't go hungry :p
:staradmin There is no normal, only typical :staradmin

well here's something I thought I'd never say...

We've booked a couple of nights @ Monte Carlo!

Pool options look good too - never realised they had a lazy river and a wave pool! :)

Hotel32 at Monte Carlo is the way to go! and for pool options, make sure you get one of the rooms with a full size table ;-)
  • We also did buffet of buffets a year and a bit ago (or Sept 2010?). Think we purchased it at The Rio, had late dinner, the b/fast there too (we were staying there), then over to the Strip for the day. Made the mistake of going into Flamingo for a light lunch. I went for breakfast before and quite liked it, but it was way worse than before. Then I think we went to Harrah's for dinner. It was good value, but I'd be reluctant to do it again, unless there was a cheaper offer on it of course :P

We stayed at MGM a few years back on their buffet deal. It was a deal that you booked the room (in our case we had a Spa Suite at $109 I think), and we both got buffet passes for the duration of our stay. There were 6 of us travelling, 3 rooms, so we all got it. So we ate every meal there. As we were staying there it was quite convenient, we had already stayed 7 nights elsewhere before finishing up with 4 nights at MGM, so we had avoided the South Strip area knowing we'd be spending a lot of time there at the end of our trip. It was a fantastic deal. I think the ones in standard rooms paid $80 per room and got the passes, so the room was effectively almost free! I actually really liked MGM buffet, but that said I've not been back since. Not sure I could bear to pay for it haha. They also used to do glasses of sparkling wine for $2 (even at dinner), which was fantastic. Not sure if they still do that. I'm always on the look out for a cheap/included drink with my buffet :)
  • Heres a quick question for those of you that go to Vegas twice a year. I usually go on average about every 8 months. My last trip being in November last year. I was thinking of doing a trip at the beginning of May and possibly another one for Thanksgiving. Does anyone see any issues with immigration? Its around about 6 months in between each trip?

    Hi Everyone

I'm busy planning my honeymoon which starts with 4 night in Vegas (from Aug 5th 2013). I've never been before but have kinda decided on The Mirage as our hotel of choice being reasonably located on The Strip. It also looks the type of place we'd like re style and pool etc. I've read many pages (not all) of this thread and am a bit confused by some of the MSE Vegas jargon... how does this Best Rate thing work? Can I utilise it? (not booked hotel yet but have priced it up at a few places). What else should I consider re The Mirage?

Also, is it feasible to check out of hotel and leave bags until the evening as our next flight isn't until about 10pm when we fly onwards to Aruba!!!

    TIA

We booked a late check out at 3pm at the Mirage last March for $30 and this was on a Saturday, In future I'll be booking an extra day as the BA flight left at 21:25, for us kicking about for an extra 3-4 hours was a pain, but at $30 is was still VFM.

Has anyone been to Vegas over Thanksgiving ?

A major part of our trips are shopping and I was wondering if there are sales over this weekend ?

There are also some decent hotel deals over this weekend, TI, CP and Paris decently priced - all I now need is a sub £550 flight from Glasgow.:o

The Friday after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year in the US...it's madness...yes, there are sales - there are tons and tons and tons of sales...many Americans will do the bulk of their Christmas shopping that Friday/Saturday/Sunday...it can be absolutely crazy though...I know I have said here before that pulling into the parking lot at Fry's (electronics) my husband remarked 'it looks like they are being looted!' with all the trolleys stacked so high with stuff...I dropped him off and drove around for ages to find a space..inside was crazy...they had a guy in a Santa suit with a bunch of helium balloons to mark the end of the queue...we had a couple of DVDs and took a look at the queue snaking back through the bulk of the huge store and decided to go to Circuit City instead and stand in a queue there for ages. :)

If you do go, get a local newspaper on Thursday (or Weds, I can't remember when the ads are published for certain)...then study them and plan your attack...and watch opening times as many stores will open earlier than normal...some advertised prices will only be valid very early (6am to 8am, for example...at least for the big superstores which may not be the sort of shopping you will do), then other sales kick in later - usually a series of really good deals starting throughout the morning until sold out...in addition to the normal sales for the day/weekend.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

we normally go to the US 3x a year for 8-9 nights a time and hubby has no issues (I'm American)...others here like pebbles go for longre periods as well...I don't think there will be any issue - you're not overstaying the 90 day limit and you're not leaving for a day and coming straight back in...cannot see any reson for concern.
