I would consider booking the room for an extra night with a flight that late...while you could leave your luggage and could get a late check-out, you might find that it's well worth it to have the room the whole of the day...of course, chances are if you do book the room one last night you'll find you are out and about and not in it...but we would book an extra night if we were in that situation.
Edited to add - late check out is usually 12 or 1 - but usually not confirmed until the morning of departure when you have to call down and ask (at least at the hotels that we have stayed at and we've had about 50/50 success rate - sometimes the answer is no, sorry)...we once knew our flight home was going to be delayed until about 8pm and paid for a 1/2 day booking that morning with check-out at 4pm...felt we got lucky with that.
Mirage's best rate guarantee is here:
http://www.mirage.com/contact/best-rate.aspx
though unhelpfully the links there do not work.
If you do find a better rate elsewhere it cannot hurt to try - if you book direct with the hotel, you should be able to cancel if they are unable to honour a best rate guarantee, then book with your preferred 3rd party.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

You can leave your bags with the Bell Desk which is usually located close to check in so you will see it when you arrive. However you could call them and they would collect your bags from the room. The service is free, but a tip is expected, at least $1 per bag plus a bit more if there is a lot of luggage or it is heavy.
However with a 2200 flight I would seriously consider asking what their half day rate is as you can sometimes keep the room until 6pm for a fee.
Having a few hours to kill, 7 or 8 in your case, can be OK if you have plans and can keep occupied for that length of time. However if you are just killing time then it will be a nightmare.
Keeping the room on means you can relax, pop back and forth if you are out and have a shower before you leave.
You could try calling Mirage reservations to see if they do offer a half day rate and what it might cost. However they are likely to tell you that it will depend on availability on the day, ie whether they need the room for incoming guests.0 -
For anyone staying at the Platinum there are some good offer on Foursquare. The pick of which is checkin on your phone, show it to the barman/woman and get the cocktail of the day for free. Do this everyday you are there. 2 people 2 phones 2 free drinks. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

That's good Stoneman. We always do checkins on Foursquare in Vegas, but have never noticed that one. Is it new?0

Another question for those with a sweet tooth
Anyine tried the frozen custard places
ie http://www.luvitfrozencustard.com/
Creations look great but is it really custard0 -
I have been meaning to try Luv It Custard for years and years...in my hometown the bestbestbest ice cream place is frozen custard...you have a sweet tooth like me, I do not think that you should let the custard thing put you off...if it is anything like what I miss from home it is just really smooth and creamy ice cream...it's delicious.
I just looked at my hometown one to see if they had an explaination about the custard thing and they don't but in their FAQ they have this.
Q: Do you have sugar free custard?
A: No.
It just made me laugh...not 'no, and here's why'...just 'no'.

:rotfl:Probably like me and dont see the point of sugar free desserts. (I know why they have them)
I will make an effort to try luvitcustard, but as usual i have many places I either want to try or return to like Coldstone creamery etc0 -
Luv It has been on our 'to do' list for the last three trips, I have vowed to get there this year!!! I too LOVE Cold Stone Creamery (got to have it on Christmas Day this year in NYC om nom nom!!!)
What are your thoughts on Buffet of Buffets? Hubby thinks it sounds good (we normally do Wynn buffet, Cosmo and maybe Bellagio). Staying at M for a weekend this year so will be doing theirs too - just wandered if you thought the Buffet of Buffets pass was worth i quality wise????:staradmin There is no normal, only typical :staradmin0 -

exactly...and the buffets that have coconut cream pie ONLY in the SF section make me furious.
I'm putting it on the must do side of the list for March now...
Wizbit82 - we have considered the BOB a few times and in the end have decided it's not worth it to us...especially with the upcharge for the Caesars buffet (and the queues there)...when it first started it was good value for money, now we would feel like we were eating at a particular place for the sake of getting our money's worth...for some it may be worth it though...just seems that the price just keeps going up and up...I swear when it first started it was $24.99 or so...that was a good deal...but even though we could skip the queues most places (except Caesars)...I just think for us it would be too much of an organized thing to get value for money and we would feel too locked in...we did think we would go for it with a late dinner-breakfast-early dinner and a stop or two for a snack/dessert or something...but decided that for us we would just feel too stuck in one area to get a reasonable value out of it and we would not like that.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
We did the BOB when it first started and was around $40. I think we were staying at Bally's or Paris at the time so it was very easy to do the Paris and Spice Market buffets.
The plan was to do a late dinner the first night, breakfast, a snack at lunchtime and an early dinner. I'm not sure we did all that, but we did get the benefit of it.
However I wouldn't bother with it now. The price has increased several times and I can get a better deal elsewhere.
BTW, I thought that the Paris buffet had gone way downhill a couple of years ago. However we had a free daily buffet when we were staying at Bally's last year and went several times as it was excellent, even for dinner and I don't like dinner buffets.0
