as a general rule it seems to me that American airlines feed you more than UK airlines...on AA we always felt like we were being given something...on VA, not so much...and the horrible 'ice cream' things they bring around we stopped even taking...I love the little snack pack thing that AA give you with your meal (or at least they did the last several times we flew with them) and you can tuck it away for later. Part of the eating on the flight thing is it's something to do to pass the time, I know...but we do generally arrive hungry when we fly with VA.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Not sure if this is actually directed at me.

I went Delta from Manc to Atlanta then Delta from Atlanta to Vegas. The Delta to Atlanta trip I was given 3 or 4 snacks, a main and offered drinks 5+ times. I was offered drins and snacks on the domestic leg.

I have nothing to compare this too because i haven't flown outside of Europe since i was a kid.

Don't know how long ago this was but Delta (and every other airline) now charge for food on domestic flights in economy -no more free meals or snacks. I found Delta's food probably better than most on the transatlantic legs.... and I agree with the comments that Virgin is poor.

Have never flown Delta, I might have the wrong airline, but is that the one that took over Continental? If so, they also fly out of Glasgow and Edinburgh in place of the Continental flights. That said, I have no idea what it says on the planes...but never mind.

    .

Continental merged with United maybe that's who you're thinking of ?

  • That's it Duchy. Just did a Kayak search for direct flights to Newark from Glasgow and that is now United.

Some of you may already know this, but remember they days when you got free drinks on flights...well US Airways brought back free wine with the meal last year :) We're flying with them in September, but picking a car up on arrival at Phoenix but I'm sure I can have one!

Not on domestic flights but they do on transatlantic

thinking about it not sure all drinks are free transatlantic, maybe just beer and wine

doesnt make any difference to us though, neither of us drink on flights

did you stay in the hotel (Aria) and did the noise from nightclub disturb you ?

Ah no i didn't stay there.

I would be surprised if it was an issue. I thought those newer hotels are all soundproof in the rooms

Well come to think of it the one time I flew to vegas on a us airline was NWA but they no longer exist. I remember beer being free for about an hour before they cut us off.
I think the us airlines were still quite spooked back then post 9/11.

    Ah good ol NWA...

There are often complaints in parts of Encore because of night club noise, And PURE can be clearly heard across the street in Flamingo rooms

Ah I think that's because XS and Pure both have an outdoors section which would definitely be a problem.
I know this as my mate nearly got us chucked out by jumping in the pool drunk in XS.

I just can't recall if Haze has a similar problem.
