I connected at Seattle 2 weeks ago

Its very easy there (as it is at most US airports)took about half hour to clear immigration, then drop bags on recheck belt, there are clear directions and then back through security check, all in it took about 45 minutes I guess.

Thats kinda comforting as my connection is only 1h35m.....already booked seats as close to the exit door as possible and will be ready for a run to get ahead of anyone who's in front of us :p

Same for us, anywhere you land in the US means you have to collect bags, whether connecting or not :) as everyone says, its easy peasy....
collect bags, go munch on real food, then get on next plane :D

the first page gives suggestions for pricing the components separately vs package deals offered by all the normal sources...circumstances will vary (flying from where, direct or indirect, hotel, etc) so where the best deal can be found will vary quite a lot depending on a number of factors...you need to do a bit of research.

You can price up packages - get an idea of the costs then compare using the suggestions on the first page which may get you a better deal...

For that time period I would be careful as you have some high occupancy periods in there...some big conventions, Superbowl, Valentine's Day, March Madness and Spring Break...so do your research and make sure you have compared all elements (I wouldn't book a flight for this period without checking hotels and booking a back-up just in case at least).

If you have no idea where you want to stay and are just looking for the cheapest deal out there...if you let folks here know where you are flying from I'm sure they can find some options for you to consider...but there are really so many options and personal tastes will vary so much that what works for one won't work at all for another.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

You start by booking your flights. The hotel can come later
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
