  • since transactions became computerised, the requirement to cross-check the card signature has become redundant. Patterns of card use are what is electronically monitored these days, to attempt to prevent fraud.

It's a daft system anyway, after all, if I've stolen a credit card, all I have to do is practice the signature a couple of times :D

We are having a nice time. Weather is still very warm but is due to drop to low 20's tomorrow. 28 today and we are planning a bit of pool time before meeting Norm and his wife for dinner. It was very busy on the strip yesterday and there are a lot of changes from last trip.

I have my slot tournament registration tomorrow and I'm meeting a MyVegas friend at Harrahs in the afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing ferf and hubby at Easter too.

Say hi to Norm for us. We met him a few years back, it was quite a big meet though at the Orleans so he's unlikely to remember us (well if he does he'll maybe remember us as the ones with the funny accents that were hard to understand!!).

    Hi everyone

I looking to plan a 10 night trip to Vegas next September and although I have been before once (back in 2008) I am looking to be much better organised (and MSE) this time.

Haven't booked flights yet as I am hoping the prices will reduce a bit as I would like to travel direct. Currently prices are around £800 return but have only just been released. Will look at hotels once flights are arranged.

My question though is whether you would recommend signing up to mlife and total rewards now? I understand that you need an mlife account to play myvegas (which I intend to start playing) but seem to remember that you often get bonuses for signing up at the casinos.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
We have also been looking at flights in September. We are coming back on the 20th at latest though, and the flights for then are only just out. Well BA is released a bit longer than US Airways for example, but both are now out for our dates. We just need to work out if we'll go on the Thursday or Saturday now. About £40 extra for the Saturday just now, but we also want to get out there early as possible to do the Grand Canyon etc before my birthday, since we're unlikely to stay in a nice hotel at Flagstaff or Laughlin. :rotfl:

Flights are currently coming in at £650 to £700 for us, depending on the dates.

I'm not sure anyone has ever looked at the signature strip on the card for us...either they ask for ID with the CC or just have us sign either on the electronic terminal or a paper slip and off we go.
I asked today, the check that the ID and card have the same name. They don't check the signature.

Yeah, they check the ID matches - driver's licence plastic card is fine.

I know this is a Vegas thread, and we are on our way there today , so I will update while there too but I know a few have been talking about LA lately so given yesterday was shopping day we did two of the outlets, the first at Camarillo and the second at citadel. Let's get the second out oft he way first, it was absolutely heaving and lacking in anything worth shopping get here for. As it was so busy the discounts were poor and the selection limited.

Camarillo is about 30-40 west of downtown LA, as such it gets less footfalls o the discounts are greater. 40% off clearance stock in nike brought t shirts down to sub $6 inc tax, ugg slippers (FIL) worked out at £60 inc tax. The biggest bargain of all was the north face. Coats and fleeces from between £60-£200 in the uk were on racks at $39.99 - $42 ish with tax, around £30!!!

If in LA with a car, take the pch up the coast and cross over to Camarillo, worth it for the outlets for sure...

Next update will be a first impression of LV .....
