Luxor ain't bad, I found the lifts going diagnol a bit strange!! we were on the 21st floor, look over your balcony and you see its a long way down to the food court on the 1st floor!
Banged my head a few times on the windows in our room given the shape!
It's not a bad hotel, so really considering spending 8 nights out of 14 there next year
Stayed at the Trop also back in 2011, smells nice! rooms are nice, and pool is good (not massive), defo worth a stay!0 -
Just booked for next month!
Looking for a fairly cheap hotel for the first night (a Wednesday), before joining a few others on the Thursday.
I've found the following options, mostly through trivago and other third parties.
Luxor £32
Excalibur £24
Orleans £31
Bally's £32
Tropicana £44
Caesars £62
all + resort fee.
Any views?
Normally I'd go for Bally's, but moving to the MGM on the Thursday so tempted to go for one near there for convenience. Any opinions on the tropicana? How acceptable would luxor and excalibur be?
Ta
See I'd take the opposing view and stay as far from the other hotel as possible to get a different experience - especially as whatever hotel I used I'd need a cab anyway.
The Orleans may very well be cheaper on its own site (and if it isn't they always price match) Midweek is often $29 direct for midweek. https://www.orleanscasino.com- rooms are comfortable and it doesn't have the huge check in lines -which for me after a long flight is important...and don't make you kick your heels til late afternoon to check in or pay an early check in fee either. Loads of good - and more reasonably priced food options on site too-so for a arrive at and crash option it works very well.
Also the MGM is massive -Orleans doesn't have you treking for miles through the casino to get to your room unlike the other options you've mentioned. Lower resort fee too.
Those are the reasons the Orleans is often my first night stop anyway
Oh and $7 for buffet breakfast the next morning doesn't hurt eitherI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Takes me about a week before I stop waking at 4-5am in Vegas - no matter how late I go to bed-so long as I get some sleep coming back overnight and then stay up til 9pm I am generally OK when I get back.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Well i'm always up at 5am regardless really for work and even on days off
So waking up early i would actually prefer that to get on with the day etc. I'm driving home to Birmingham when we land so hopefully i wotn get sleepy on the drive home (1.5 hours max)!!!

There is no way I could drive home from Manchester after the trip home. It's just over two hours, but I'd be afraid I'd fall asleep at the wheel. We always take the train home after a transatlantic flight.0

You've got me worried now pebble haha!
Our flight is at 12:15 on 26th october, We can get the 05:50 from Birmingham to Paddington for £21 (for 2) then get this heathrow shuttle for £68 return for the 2 of us (does this have a timetable as doesnt seem to give you one) Just puts two tickets in a basket for you?
Then the train back would be 12:55 as we land at 09:25 in heathrow, then i presume just jump on with this heathrow shuttle thing and then the train home.
Would that be advised given the time frame etc?
Parking is £80-90 in heathrow then maybe £30 fuel
train would be £100, just relys on trains and public transport more which i worry about!Halifax loan - 6800 - 198 DD a month

*edit*
Yes, your booked ticket remains valid for three months from date of purchase so if your journey is delayed or postponed, or if you have booked an incorrect date, you will still be able to use your ticket..
Ok so that makes it easy enough and they run from 5am 7days a weekHalifax loan - 6800 - 198 DD a month

I'm sorry I worried you, that was not my intent.
Don't worry about it too much, I think I'm a lot older than you with various health issues to deal with, so that doesn't help. We have a direct train service, then a short taxi ride. (if i can't get a lift from a family member)
I've checked the Heathrow shuttle, It's every 15 minutes and takes 15-20 minutes each way depending on the terminal. That should work fine.0 -
I'm only joking :P
Well if anything you've opened my eyes, might be a bit more fun and stress free to get the train rather than drive down, the shuttle seems decent really as has no dates etc so any train you please
It gives us the option anyway, i think i ask way to much info on this page but i like chatting and finding things out from other peoples experience :PHalifax loan - 6800 - 198 DD a month
