If you like genuine Chinese food (eg a million miles away from sweet and sour pork balls) the Chinese in the Gold Coast next to the Rio comes highly recommended apparently.

Thanks! I love Chinese food, and as we haven't got any Chinese restaurants on our 'places to eat at' list, then that might be another option. :)

Ping Pang Pong it's called - the Chinese at Gold Coast - we went for lunchtime dim sum once and we really enjoyed it but there was a bit of a language gap between us and the waitresses with the trollies so we struggled to know what some of the items were, but that was kind of part of the fun...some of it was just a big surprise.

The buffet at Rio used to be really good (and insanely massive) but not sure if it still is as it's been years since we have been.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Rio buffet was good and massive last time we went. Might have been last year.

The sky is very grey this morning...just trying to work out what to do. Probably we'll go out in the car somewhere. Shame...because I really want to get some sun.

Last night we just went to Stir for appetisers and drinks, then round to Tuscany (Marilyn's cafe) and shared a pasta and fries. Then played some slots, then round to Ellis Island for 3 rounds of drinks for 2 LVA coupon...then played some more slots. We managed to stay dry.

There was a wedding at The Platinum last night....they were just setting up when the rain started...poor folk. Apparently here from Australia to get married. They were down in Stir at one point getting some pics...I guess they were a bit restricted with the rain.

Thanks photome! Is it easy for a left handed person to do? I remember being the awkward one when we went to a gun range last time in Vegas! :o

Also, it seems to be near China Town, does anyone know how far that is off the strip?

You will need a left handed bow, would think they have those.

its about 1.5 miles from the fashion show, just off spring mountain

Lesley--> i think you got us right as being the folks that sat down at a table of glasses and left @ 6ish :) it was the table near the entrance we sat at. Every other night we've seen table service being super quick but was so busy (plus we had already had a few watching NFL at Blondies ;))

Im really not sure I would want to put them through a baggage belt...

I must admit I go to poundland, stock up on vacuum bags and use them for bringing back all my outlet shopping. When I was in the US I picked up some which are roll up which means they work without a vacuum.

    Proved very useful...

Not very MSE:o, but we're going world traveller plus, so we'll each be allowed 2 x 23kg bags each way. We don't do it often , so there's no need to buy more suitcases. The sports bags are made from decent material, just like an ordinary suitcase - and thicker material than those ultra lightweight suitcases you get.

I have tonnes of vacuum bags for camping, but making it smaller doesn't make it lighter, it just packs it into a smaller space. You don't need special roll up ones, you just pile them up with the valve open and roll around on them till they're all squished, then screw the valve closed. :)

The language barrier is really only a potential issue for dim sum which I think is mainly lunchtime...if you go for dinner and order off the menu it will be fine...most times we go for proper dim sum we're with a Chinese-speaking Chinese person so going to Chinese restaurants in Chinatown (London and Chicago) is no issue...this time we had to wing it a bit as we were on our own. It is very much one of those restaurants that is heavily frequented by Chinese people so it must be good. :)

The point I was making was vacuum bags make it denser - pack it dense and its less likely to get damaged - We're Premium Economy so we get the same allowance, unfortunately we all get the same crap baggage handlers :)
