    wehay...
I've been checking daily for Club World availability for our British Airways return flight from Vegas to Heathrow at the start of October and it showed up on Saturday!

Thanks to tips on MSE and FlyerTalk forums I've been collecting Tesco Club Card points like crazy. Got all these converted to Avios and got 2 upgrades from World Traveller Plus to Club World for 25,000 Avios and £7.20 extra taxes. So I'm now (almost) looking forward to the flight home! - First time ever in Business Class for us.

The flights were bought in the sale in January through a travel agent and they were still valid for upgrade. So I'm really pleased.
I've also still got enough Avios left to upgrade our outbound flights to SFO if availability appears - so still checking every day.

Only 6 more work-days to go!

Can i ask how much you paid doing it this way? I'm waiting to book some flights to March / April next year to fly business and its 100,000k Avios and about £570 for the taxes which is less than an economy ticket..... Is it cheaper to buy a ticket and upgrade?

    Thanks

    Hi All
I'm back in Vegas in a few weeks, hoping to stay at Silver Seven's, formerly known as Terrible's.
I've stayed there in a refurbished Premium Room before overlooking the car park but a few internet reviews say the Tower Rooms facing the pool are better, even though they haven't been refurbished.
Has anyone recently stayed in both type of room and could you recommend the best?

    Thanks

I'm not actually too sure of the price breakdown for the flights as it was part of a package with Trailfinders. I seem to remember they were £700 ish each for World Traveller Plus... but to add to the confusion - the booking was DUB-LHR-SFO out and LAS-LHR-DUB back. So we'd less tax to pay because we're flying from\to Dublin. I'd recommend doing what I did and buying World Traveller Plus tickets and hoping to get upgrade availability IF you don't have many Avios (I didn't have ANY Avios in January) and you'd be content to fly WTP if there wasn't upgrade availability. I think the accepted wisdom is that upgrading with Avios is good value but there is always the risk that the flights you buy never show any seats in Club World for upgrades or redemptions.
  • just over 2 months to my return - 5nts of pure carnage is on the horizon...
  • Well, let's think what we've done since I was last on here.

Monday we moved to Palazzo - loving our room. I think I already mentioned Legends, so think I've covered Monday.

Tuesday we had Terry Fator show in the evening. We woke quite early and went to the Wynn buffet for breakfast. So, so good. We then went a walk because it was a bit cloudy. Then to the pool for an hour or so, then came back to the room for a nap and watched some of the tennis. We then got ready and went down to Grand Luxe Cafe for happy hour cocktails. I liked the raspberry cosmos, hubby liked the blueberry mojotos ($5 each). We ordered a second because we liked them so much. We were supposed to go to the Mirage buffet for dinner, but decided to have houmous with pitta (Kevin), edamame with schezuan (nothing like schezuan as we know it...more like thick soy sauce but still nice), and then shared a pizza. It said 18 inch, however wasn't round, was long....so it wasn't as big as we thought but was fine and kept us going. Over to Terry Fator. We had booked 101 P 1&2 which was right at the back but on a row on it's own with only 4 seats (bit like a box but right at the back). The girl asked if we'd like to move forward and told us to take our seats and she'd see what was available. It was quite early (about 20 mins before show) and she stuck us right down in the 5th row, which was good because you could see the puppet's faces clearer. :T Then wandered over to Samba for a drink but it was closed. Instead wandered back to Palazzo and tried out the drinks ordering service on the slots. It was ok, but the waitress was coming over and asking what we ordered, then going and getting, so it wasn't really being used as you would expect. Only had 2, we were tired.

Wednesday I actually slept till a reasonable hour. Went to Wynn again for b/fast as it was so good on Tuesday. It was about $45 for both of us. I'm able to eat lunch items at b/fast so I had quite an interesting selection but only had little bits so didn't stuff myself.

Then we went looking for a travel adaptor as we managed to bring not one but two europe ones!! Not a bad thing (in a sense) as we managed to get a euro to us one much cheaper then a uk to us, so this saved a bit compared to not having one at all!!

Back to Palazzo and down to pool. The pool is nice, loungers comfy but jammed together. We got loungers right at a shallow bit of pool which was lovely for cooling down. The deeper bit was ice cold!

Over to TI to pick up the car. They now have 2 staff members on the desk so it was a much quicker transaction than we have had in the past. Got a Mazda 3 which I'm quite happy with (booked focus category). Went over to Maryland Parkway bit of shopping, then down to South Strip outlets. Bit of a thunderstorm and some rain going on as well. Didn't feel like I bought much but the car was full of bags when we were done. :) Got some bargains...by getting to the till and being charged a bit less than expected due to further discounts - love when that happens!!

Dinner buffet at Silverton $15 for both of us with LVA coupon. They do a drinks bump for $5 which is great value but we didn't do it. Buffet is quite small but quality is reasonable. I had a plate of salad which was nice and fresh then some mac cheese, pizza and mash. And a bit of brownie and some sponge cake with strawberry sauce poured over. Service attentive and friendly.

Drove back via supermarket for some drinks etc, and then went down to the casino. This time the drinks service on the machines was a bit of a joke. Quite annoying because we had ordered on the machine and sat about 30 mins or more waiting...and meanwhile going from a good spell on the machines into losing some of the winnings. I don't think we'll sit there again :( Only had a couple but it got quite late due to the wait.

Think we're heading out to Red Rock shortly for b'fast at Red Rock Resort, and a drive around the park...also will stop at some of the shops along Charleston and North Rainbow on the way back. Plan a few hours at the pool followed by some happy hour cocktails and dinner at the Mirage buffet. Happy hours seem to be Mon-Fri so we better go test some of them before the weekend!!

I've never seen any mention of Terrible's on here, so I'm not sure if anyone will know. Are you getting it really cheaply? It's just that Vegas has so many cheap room deals I'm not sure it's worth staying over there. Obviously you will know where it is if you have stayed before, but I think it would be worth checking for deals elsewhere. Orleans (also of strip but much bigger and with a shuttle) has rooms for $35 including $10 food credit. They have a 9.99 resort fee now though.

We stayed in the Key Largo opposite Terrible's years ago, and I didn't like it at all. If you provide your dates someone will have a browse for you and advise on good rates elsewhere. The Quad might even be cheaper.

Loving the updates, Lesley! Will tell hubby about happy hour cocktails as we go to Grand Lux every trip but have never noticed this...

And this is why I can go an entire 8-9 night vegas trip without a single drink from the cocktail waitress...many times I could have had several in the time I stayed at a machine but too many times waiting and losing while waiting has made me skittish...I flit about quite a lot and never like to commit to one place too long...shame though as when we tried it the at the machine cocktail service was really fast and was just the thing for me.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

not sure anyone on here has stayed there (except you)

I have often thought about it and would maybe stay there if I didn't get the free rooms from Orleans

I have been there many times for a buffet breakfast (when it was terribles) which always works out at about $3 to $4 each.

It does always seem very smokey though, I guess cause its small

Stayed there two years ago. Was horrible. Had cockroaches and instead of moving me they sprayed the bathroom, making the room stink. In hindsight I should have left!!!

Clientele in the casino reminded me of the bar in Total Recall with the three breasted woman.
