Great trip report Traveller!! Remember 40 is the new 30 !!!Happy Belated Birthday!0

loved the report, traveller! How funny if you were standing next to Karen G and didn't realise...it's amazing what a small/big place Vegas can be. Sorry to hear you weren't feeling so well for part of the trip but it sounds like you managed to have a great time anyway.
I think I would like to try the Mirage buffet one time...and Rock and Rita's intrigues me. Rainforest Cafe used to be our first night's meal when we used to stay 'down south'...I quite like the place...it may not be the best meal and may be a bit expensive but we liked it.
photome - $20 is probably a lot for that sandwich - especially when you struggle to eat more than about 1/2 of it, but if memory serves we charged it to the room and used TR credits to pay for the meal...so technically "free" (sort of) and for free it was awesome.I also really like the vibe sitting out on the patio...it's like a less fountain-y more neon-y Mon Ami Gabi (I am pushing it, I know).
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Great review!
Interesting to hear about the Mega Bus to LA being good- did you stay overnight there I assume?0 -
we had the frrrrozen hot chocolate in NYC - it was good, but we haven't ordered it in Vegas went for a shake instead.
hubby had a great steak and egg sandwich there last time we went - it was ridiculous...we could have shared it between us...I tried a bit and it was yummy...I had something I really liked too...first time we went I had some sort of chili cheese dog that I liked...it's not cheap though...but it's another one of those places that's quite nice to sit on the patio.
found the photo of the steak & egg sandwich.
Wow that's huge!! Like you say, that's one for sharing! It looks really yummy though. That's the kind of thing I'd go for, the DH is the dessert king....I never should have mentioned that place to him!
I've surprised myself by wanting to try the Frozen hot chocolate, as I'm definetly more savoury than sweet.

Thanks for the pic
thats one big sandwich!
Always fancied eating there but dont like the prices:(
Checked the menu, that sandwich is $20 plus tax for TR members, Is that a lot for that? I cant decide
I don't think that's too bad a price really, considering you seem to get fries with it too, or maybe they were extra? I'd say it's pretty good value. I just love the sound of their menus, the breakfast one especially.0 -
Thanks for the trip report traveller, I love reading them!
Sorry to hear that you weren't feeling to well for some of the tripBut glad you still managed to enjoy yourself.
Happy belated birthday to you also! :beer:0 -
I don't think $20 is bad - roughly £13 + Tax? You'd pay that at Frankie & Bennies and the likes over here.0

in that respect I agree...I think what makes it difficult to say if it is expensive is when you think about what you could get for $20 elsewhere in Vegas....and fries or coleslaw (or sweet potato fries for $1 extra) did come with it...but some days in Vegas we just go where we want without paying too much attention to the price (within reason) as we're on holiday.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Thanks everyone
. Mich81- we stayed in LA for 3 nights. The megabus dropped us at union station, so nice and central. Oh Hovis-glad to hear 40 is the new 30

I'm glad to hear 40 is the new 30 too, as I'll be having this scary experience next year (hopefully in Vegas to soften the blow).
It's almost 6am and I slept to at least 5am which I consider reasonable for my second night in Vegas. Think I went to sleep around 1130 so that's better than the first night. We were at Legends last night at the 930 show, which was good for keeping us awake but I really struggled halfway through. Show was ok, not fantastic.
Yesterday was spent doing lots of walking. We walked from the Orleans over onto Decatur for a bit yesterday and even found a park which I never knew was there. For breakfast we had Krispy Kremes from the 'gas station' beside McMullan's, followed by our walk and another stop at same gas station to stock up on water, crisps, and a big bottle of coke to take to the Venetian. Prices being higher on the strip we thought it was sensible to bring some over to start us off. Lunch was at the Orleans food court, Sbarro pizza slice and salad for me, Fuddruckers veggie burger for Kevin. This was right after we checked out Orleans and we then took a taxi to Palazzo ($20 including tip). Our room at Palazzo is just lovely. I find it a bit of an odd mix of colours and metals in the room, but it's very plush and comfortable too. We have a view of the Wynn golf course, and we even have a printer in the room. Just need to work out how to hook it up and I can see if I can print any more coupons :rotfl: Probably not the most common use for a printer in such a nice room haha.
Afternoon (after checking in and unpacking) was spent going to Mirage for our Terry Fator tickets. We never did get the email for the tickets, but had printed the booking screen. We then went to Fashion show mall.
Dinner last night was at Maggiano's using the coupon. We were finishing shopping at 530 and there was a 15 minute wait so we decided to go to Palazzo and get ready before dinner so we booked for 7. We had fried Mozzarella (4 big squares), bruschetta (about 6 pieces), I had spaghetti marinara and Kevin had cheese ravioli. Glass of wine each and a cocktail after dinner. Bill would have been $80-odd but was $54 with the $30 off voucher which I put a link on for before. Great deal. We need to go back for happy hour one night.
Sore feet after all the walking yesterday was glad to get to bed last night. Today we will go out for breakfast somewhere (maybe TI, not sure yet), and then go to the pool and then go out earlyish for the evening. We will probably eat at The Mirage buffet on a 2/1 LVA coupon. Perhaps we'll stop by Maggiano's happy hour first, although it's a shame to stop for drinks only and not eat because their flatbreads sound good. Think we need to have dinner before the Terry Fator show though, and we want to use the Mirage coupon and it's convenient for the show. We get the car on Wednesday so we should make use of the nearby choices just now since we will be out driving after that.0
