I'm glad to hear 40 is the new 30 too, as I'll be having this scary experience next year (hopefully in Vegas to soften the blow).

It's almost 6am and I slept to at least 5am which I consider reasonable for my second night in Vegas. Think I went to sleep around 1130 so that's better than the first night. We were at Legends last night at the 930 show, which was good for keeping us awake but I really struggled halfway through. Show was ok, not fantastic.

Yesterday was spent doing lots of walking. We walked from the Orleans over onto Decatur for a bit yesterday and even found a park which I never knew was there. For breakfast we had Krispy Kremes from the 'gas station' beside McMullan's, followed by our walk and another stop at same gas station to stock up on water, crisps, and a big bottle of coke to take to the Venetian. Prices being higher on the strip we thought it was sensible to bring some over to start us off. Lunch was at the Orleans food court, Sbarro pizza slice and salad for me, Fuddruckers veggie burger for Kevin. This was right after we checked out Orleans and we then took a taxi to Palazzo ($20 including tip). Our room at Palazzo is just lovely. I find it a bit of an odd mix of colours and metals in the room, but it's very plush and comfortable too. We have a view of the Wynn golf course, and we even have a printer in the room. Just need to work out how to hook it up and I can see if I can print any more coupons :rotfl: Probably not the most common use for a printer in such a nice room haha.

Afternoon (after checking in and unpacking) was spent going to Mirage for our Terry Fator tickets. We never did get the email for the tickets, but had printed the booking screen. We then went to Fashion show mall.

Dinner last night was at Maggiano's using the coupon. We were finishing shopping at 530 and there was a 15 minute wait so we decided to go to Palazzo and get ready before dinner so we booked for 7. We had fried Mozzarella (4 big squares), bruschetta (about 6 pieces), I had spaghetti marinara and Kevin had cheese ravioli. Glass of wine each and a cocktail after dinner. Bill would have been $80-odd but was $54 with the $30 off voucher which I put a link on for before. Great deal. We need to go back for happy hour one night.

Sore feet after all the walking yesterday was glad to get to bed last night. Today we will go out for breakfast somewhere (maybe TI, not sure yet), and then go to the pool and then go out earlyish for the evening. We will probably eat at The Mirage buffet on a 2/1 LVA coupon. Perhaps we'll stop by Maggiano's happy hour first, although it's a shame to stop for drinks only and not eat because their flatbreads sound good. Think we need to have dinner before the Terry Fator show though, and we want to use the Mirage coupon and it's convenient for the show. We get the car on Wednesday so we should make use of the nearby choices just now since we will be out driving after that.

Do try to get to the Mirage buffet-it really was lovely there :)

Thanks for the link to that coupon, printing it our right now! Italian food is my favourite, especially the cheese ravioli! I nearly always get that.

    Enjoying reading your updates. :)
  • I tried to find the coupon - which post is it in?

Has anyone ever had the Power Pass or have any opinions on it?

We did the buffet at the Mirage in June which as we were staying there was very convenient.I got it free through Myvegas ,and found it to be very good. The thing with this buffet is it is more about quality than quantity.
Think we are at -54 days and have got through Myvegas:
    Dinner for 2 @ Rock&Ritas
Dinner buffet for 2 @ Aria
    $25 food credit @ NYNY
We fly with Iberia(AA) to Chicago and then Chicago to Vegas with AA
( chose this route going as it has about 3 hr layover so not as rushed as the Philly route( US AIRWAYS)Our seats have been prebooked for us from Manchester to Chicago so am a bit concerned about being in a row of 3 so I may have to ring them to change said seats!!
Coming home we fly BA to Heathrow then Heathrow to Manchester( did this last Oct and missed connecting flight due to a delay so have chosen a later one to start with)However I am loathed to pay £70 to prebook 2 seats together, although the generous hand luggage is the real gem(23kg)!!
  • just a head's up that the Virgin sale is on... not sure there's anything THAT great...?

Not unless you combine VS LHR-LAX with the VA LAX-LAS deal on Travelzoo that came out today. :)
    illegitimi non carborundum
  • Just looked at Virgin sale offers, the Manchester flights all seem to be via London, so nothing interests me.

On a separate note one of the Vdara offers from SmarterVegas e-mail today, has a room discount, dining credit and a laundry credit.

That's the first time I've seen a laundry credit.
Could be they read this thread and think they are on to something.

Not sure what post it was in, but with Lesley mentioning it, it reminded me, so I googled it and found this: http://www.coupons.com/coupon-codes/printable/?cid=83440_2

In case anyone is thinking of booking with Thomas Cook, I can definitely recommend going through Topcashback.

I booked for 2014 on the 16th July, paid a full deposit (rather than the low deposit option) and the £75 cashback is now payable into my bank account - one of the quickest merchants I've found - and the bonus is that it covered the upgrade cost to a Grand Queen at MGM!
