Why not split your trip between both the MGM and Mirage? Problem solved.
For You Tube searching purposes, the Executive King used to be called a Bunglaow suite and the Tower Spa a Celebrity Spa suite. The MGM only changed the names of the room types last year due to them being refurbished.
We avoided staying at the MGM on our first few trips as I felt it was too far south. However as we hotel hop and split our stay it suits us to stay there for a few days and stay somewhere more central the rest of the time, such as the Carriage House, Ballys, etc.
We would, but we're already doing a number of hotel swaps.
LA arrival, 2 nights in LAX hotel - explore LA by car
Drive to LV
4 nights in LV
Drive to Grand Canyon
1 night in Flagstaff, Az
Drive to San Diego
2 Nights in San Diego
Drive to LA
2 Nights in LA
Fly Home.
Splitting the LV into two hotels is not something we're keen on.
Showed the YouTube videos to the other half (aka the boss) and shes chosen the MGM on the basis of size for space - LCU have confirmed price and capacity - they did offer the Signature at super cheap but other half wasn't keen...
So that's one decision made, MGM Grand, Executive Suite it is.
Next up a Flagstaff hotel, the San Diego's and then finally the LA one - its never ending!0 -
Sorry, I didn't realise you were only there for 4 night. Definitely not worth moving.
Pics of a Bungalow suite before it was refurbished. The armoire separating the room is now gone.0 -
Either Mirage or MGM - you can't really go wrong with either. Do you plan to see any shows? Depending what you plan to see might help you decide. I have a feeling that you'll try to cover as much of the strip as you can, so it might not matter which.
We haven't stayed at The Mirage (but would like to). We have had a Celebrity Spa Suite at MGM twice before the refurb. We liked the room. It had a fridge if that might make a difference. I like a fridge (and a washer/dryer).
Quite an action packed trip you have. Be sure to let us know how it goes. I'm keen to hear about San Diego - we thought about it this year, so it's likely to be a future trip for us.0 -
We've got tickets to veronic already, we will be trying to find a good deal on something cirque, but need to sort the route and places first. I still have to book the Grand Canyon onwards so the route may still change. We're currently planning flagstaff and south, through Phoenix, along the Mexican border and up to San Diego - it's a fairly steady trip I think, we're hoping to travel early most days...0

Just been looking for coupons for our upcoming trip. These might be helpful to someone.

I've never been to LV before, I didn't want to go as such (Big Sur was my preferred destination this trip) but the other half did, so I don't want to be annoyed with the place.
We're not drinkers as such, we don't really gamble and we're not 4 am partiers. Kinda think I might be setting myself up for a fall here lol!0 -
I'm quite glad I didn't research hotels before my first trip .....I'd have driven myself nuts. We chose the hotel based on a show we were seeing there -(the Orleans). Had I not stayed there I would have probably felt staying on Strip was vital- as it was we got the chance to get the feel for the Strip and realized we had little interest in staying south of the Strip (although some love it) and that the monorail trek at MGM was (for us) a minus point.
Thing is it's all subjective - even though I wouldn't stay at MGM as a first choice-it is not because it is awful it's just that for my preferences there are better options.
For example unless the room has a balcony -size doesn't matter- no Strip rooms are tiny and I'm rarely in anyway-too much to do and see out and about.
Honestly I'd stop stressing about the hotel -you've booked - you'll love it -Plenty of people stay there every visit -just because some of us think the Mirage has the edge doesn't mean you've made a bad choice. Focus your time on planning the stuff you want to do and places you want to eat etc as you only have four nights
I have Mormon friends who go to Vegas on a regular basis (it's close enough to drive) they go for the pools, the shopping and the shows -and don't drink or gamble at all.
I am taking my OH on his first visit -he has no interest in gambling but has said he'll sit at a slot to get a "free" drink and do it for the experience. He's excited to be seeing the Hoover Dam and visiting the different hotels , relaxing by the pool ..oh and getting married ...whilst we are there ... He also *really* wants to see Elton John - so that's an easy stag night sorted LOL (My MOH says she wants to see Elton so she's going on the Stag -I'll go see Donny and Marie with the girls....unless the budget expands to afford bothI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
