    Hi everyone,

Really useful thread, some good tips in here so thanks to all contributors.

We're heading to Vegas for a friend's wedding the week of 14 October. Coincidentally, we went there in November last year and got a decent rate staying at the Encore and booking about a month before our arrival date.

We'll be shopping around for hotels soon and I was just wondering whether there's any pattern to when it's possible to get the best hotel rates? We'll probably not be looking to stay in the Encore this time, but somewhere decent that's 4/5 star. Maybe the Cosmopolitan or Aria.

    Appreciate any help!

    John.

Looking at booking tonight, Circus Circus in sept for 6 nights, a 1 stop flight, £615 pp with holiday genie. Just wondering if thats a fair price (it seems to be with the searches) also anybody had any experience of holiday genie?

    Thanks Claire

    Oh please don't !
There are far better options at the same price. Circus Circus is away from the nice part of the Strip- try the Orleans instead. Instead of forking out for a bus down the Strip their free regular shuttle drops you mid strip in less time -rooms are bigger, food choices and prices are better, pool is nicer etc.

Duchy as you know, I love the Orleans and stay there part of every trip, but for a first time visitor, on strip is best IMO

I agree, don't go to CC unless you have no other choice. What you will save on the room you will spend getting up and down to the main part of the strip. It's also not a very nice area at night.

I was going to suggest the Quad, but I forgot about the construction. The Excalibur is fine, but remember to factor in the resort fee when pricing it.

I would suggest Bally's. Rooms are nothing fancy, but it just has a comfortable feel to it and it's in a great location, directly opposite the Bellagio.

Try here for promo prices if they go to your dates. There are no resort fees at Caesars properties

Currently booking our trip to vegas and not been for 3-4 years, feeling a bit sad the way vegas has gone, when I was there in the early 2000's was really interesting place were the casinos were the attractions. Now every time I've been back its a little more bland every time, interesting and fun hotels replaced with generic 5 Star seemingly themeless hotels since my last visit in 09 we have lost Sahara, ip, Fitzgerald, o Shea's the lions at mgm etc... And replaced with what ? Nonspecific class 5 star hotels and condos, will vegas loose its appeal with the loss of its history and individuality? ( reflections in bed while Ill with this norovirus)

Sad to say, I agree with this :(

The first time I went was 2002 and it blew me away. I've been a few times since (married there in 2009). 2010 was the last time I went and it just wasn't the same. I hated "City Centre" or whatever it's called!

I still love Vegas though and I'm just looking now for November this year as we're 100% going:A:A, just need to get Cuba out the way in 52 days. :T
  • Hi I've been reading the last couple of pages with interest - we are going over Easter and want budget (...but not CC level of budget...stayed in the motor lodge once by mistake...eeek) accommodation on the strip.
I've been using LasVegasAdvisor and nearly booked the Flamingo - but some people are recommending Ballys - is that where you'd recommend? What swings it for Ballys? (or rather - what's wrong with the Flamingo?)
  • Try Paris. Not as expensive as the Venetian but central.

CC is cheap, very cheap. The manor lodge rooms are only abvout $20 a night so six nights would only be about $150 inc tax or about £100 so you could prob do as well booking seperately with a 1 stop flight.

I read it as $20 for six nights......probably about right:rotfl::rotfl:

I prefer the Flamingo over Bally's especially if you get a Flamingo GO room.

Flamingo tries to appeal to a "younger" audience compared to Bally's.
  • Thanks neobis - not sure if I count as 'younger' any more!
Think I'll ponder it overnight and hope none of the codes expire.
