Hi, i wondered if anyone could give me some advice on hotels as I'm sending myself dizzy loookong at all the different sites/reviews/offers!

We are flying into Vegas on 29.6.13 and staying 2 nights before heading off on a road trip around Arizona and Utah. We have been to Vegas twice before, once in 2000 and again in 2007, staying at Excalibur and Luxor respectively, both were OK at the time, although I understand that Excalibur has gone down hill. This time I really wanted a more mid strip location and fancied either the Bellagio or Venetian, but sadly both are out of our price range:( I've looked at The Mirage and Monte Carlo, has anyone stayed at either of these hotels before? If so what did you think.

I'm also tempted by the Travel Zoo offer for Vdara, but as we're going at the most expensive time, that's still a bit over budget. We won't be gambling as we'll have a 17yr old in tow so the lack of casino here isn't an issue, but as we're staying for such a short time, is it worth the extra expense?
We stayed at the Mirage last June and have booked again for this June. Its a great hotel and really good location.Have you considered Flamingo?Thats a better price point and is in a great location opposite Caesers n Bellagio. We have stayed there 3 times and have always been really pleased with it.The pool area is good too though not as good as Mirage.

whats your reason in choosing at circus circus??? There are far better hotels on strip for similar price, are you taking children?

No children no, just the price really attracted me, will not book anything until i have done some more searching.

I'm pretty sure holiday genie is one of the ones that pops up on the main overseas travel thread with tendency to advise the customer that the price has increased, etc. have you checked flights + hotel as separate elements to compare?

also agree that CC may not be the best option, but some are just fine with it - just depends on individual circumstances.

Yeah with expedia its a similiar price but not got the total amount and genie allow you to put a deposit down, will avoid now with your feedback, thanks. Flights are roughly £480 so just need to sort a hotel out at a reasonable cost.:)

for a similar price id rather stay at excalibur. I am one of those who really does not like CC, its far from everything, kids everywhere, but the steakhouse inside is good

Ok will keep searching, thanks
  • Groupon - I had problems booking with them, the transaction failed but I had an email to say they'd try to process it again, once a day, for four days. I rang Halifax and it was because they were blocking the transaction as potential fraud, once they'd removed the block it went through fine. If you do have similar trouble, it's maybe worth giving your card provider a call to check if the issue is their security measures.

Travelzoo Kahunaville offer I really fancy this and it's now available for our dates. Was just wondering if anyone had had any experience using these vouchers? We'll be a party of four (two couples) so want to buy two vouchers (6 cocktails into 4 doesn't go without arguments :) ). I know the vouchers are one per party but does anyone know if they treat you as a separate party if you pay separately, or will we need to pretend we don't know each other? No probs if the latter, we're all very MSE haha!

Ditto - we used to stay at Excalibur regularly and while it's not our preference now...it still would be far ahead of CC...I don't mind the casino at Exalibur but not a fan of the one at CC...it just feels a bit grubby to us...and the location of CC isn't great as photome said...and agree on the manor motor lodge rooms, from what I've read they wouldn't be a place many people would like to stay unless the low price is the deciding factor.

magee737 - I don't have any personal experience with holiday genie so please don't take my comments as anything other than recalling what people have said...if it interests you not sure you would lose anything in trying.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • magee 7373 - We stayed at the Riviera our first time in Vegas (opposite CC) - it was fine because we didn't know any better and as it was cold (December/January) the trek up and down to the 'proper' Strip didn't bother us. I wouldn't choose to stay up that end again, it's just too inconvenient and neither of those hotels (Riv and CC) are very nice. In my opinion, you'd be better off looking for somewhere closer to mid-strip, you'll get much more out of your time there if everything's on your doorstep

If you can get flights for £960 that leaves £290 for 6 nights (based on the price you had for CC) thats about $450 or about $75 a night

You should be able to stay mid strip at Ballys, Flamingo, Harrahs, or Quad for that.

    (Bills will be closed)

Because of the construction I would rule out Quad (IP) and prob Flamingo.

That leaves Ballys or Harrahs, with Ballys getting my vote.

Of course for a few more $s, it would bring in other hotels
