Just booked 2 trips - October 2013 and May 2014, very excited!

Found what we thought was a great deal for Vdara city corner suite on Travel Republic for the May 2014 trip, booked it Friday night, didn't get a confirmation email. Then Sunday had a call, email and text to contact them. The room had gone up in price by £90.00, we could pay it, discuss alternatives or cancel, this issue due to them being on a live system. A live system that took 2 days to decide the price had changed???!!!
Just thought if anyone is looking at Travel Republic prices its something to be aware of.

    What did you do? Cancel?

Worth looking at lowcostusa or netflights for Vdara as I got a deal in May at £75 a night inc resort fees but for deluxe suite with premium view.

As there's 3 of us going we took the increase of £30 each, unfortunately we had the flights booked with them too so we were a bit stuffed. It's still a good deal, just not as good. I wasn't aware the price could change. Lesson learned I guess!

I avoid TravelRepublic for those exact reasons - they seem to make quite a habit of altering prices (a forum search on here backs that up) :)

I'm interested by your comment that you have to book accommodation with them cos you'd booked flights with them - what do you mean by it? Was it a package? Or was it more of a concern over ATOL coverage that means you chose to do it? :)

You are correct, I didn't have to keep the accommodation with them, its 2 separate bookings. It was still, I believe, a good price, though very annoying they changed it 2 days later. We wanted the corner suite as there's 3 of us in the room. I will be very wary of Travel Republic in the future

Right, well, finally, after plenty debate and discussion we've realised our original plan of LA, LV and SF simply isn't possible in 10 days without spending 90% of time in a car or 75% in an airport.

We're going to do LA, San Diego and LV - we'll be driving to LV and spending 4-5 days there, from the Sunday to Friday as from what I read this is the best time for hotel prices...

We're looking to walk where we can (id like to be able to have a beer at night) from what I can see hotel shuttles go all over...

So a Hotel on the strip clearly isn't an absolute need unless im missing something? We're going to be there is the first week of November...

So any suggestions? We'd be looking at a 3-4 star hotel I guess - any recommendations? I can see lots of cheap hotels, but I suspect they are grotty rooms compared to the rest of those on offer...

Open to advice from all you knowledgeable, pleasant people :)

What's your budget for hotels? This will be the driving factor for any recommendations :)

It might make more sense to get a feel for what sort of budget you have and go from there - look at the first page for links to deals and see what might fit your budget...it may be that there is a property on the strip that would suit...or it may be that somewhere like Orleans would work for you..we're strip people, we like to walk out of our hotel and be in the middle of it and not have to rely on shuttles...but many people here love Orleans.

Although, looking at the convention calendar, I think one of the bigger conventions of the year may be in town your dates? 5th to 8th November - 130,000 people...so hotel prices may be higher than normal that week, unfortunately. Looking at a few rate calendars it does seem like rates are much higher than the week before or after...double in a lot of cases.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Someone at work recommended it to me, if you wait for a table on the terrace then you get a good view of the Bellagio Fountains - there are some awesome pictures on the TripAdvisor Review Page. Its a little pricey for dinner though!

It's all relative but we think it's quite reasonable for what it is and the general atmosphere on the patio (I wouldn't eat inside, the patio is what makes it special to us)...we didn't go there for several trips as we thought it was expensive and posh and we were quite surprised when we finally looked at the menu.

We had breakfast at MAG once - it was a lovely experience, though we had a $50 voucher we paid $25 for (a deal I think Luci found a few years ago)...really enjoyed eating out on the patio and watching the strip wake up (and yes the drunks going back to their hotel)...only thing was it was a bit windy...and in the desert that meant a bit of sand flying around. I loved the huuuuge coffee cups too. We have gotten away from sit down breakfasts most days but I would like to do it again.
