    What's this?

Its a MLIFe (MGM Grand, NY NY, Bellagio etc) app on Facebook were you play slot machines to win loyalty points - the more you get, the better the rewards are.

I've been playing just over a month and got almost 60,000 already.

The current free hotel nights (for a nicer hotel) are from 20,000, 30,000 and upwards. (430,000 for a weekend night at Aria!)

But, even if the rewards for free hotels don't cover the periods you're going, you could go for things like free buffet passes or free show tickets which would you leave you more in your budget to pay for a hotel room?

If you join, then also join a myvegas group for lots of free chips to gamble with.

http://www.mgmresorts.com/myVEGASdates/nyny.aspx shows the dates available to use comps for NY NY - 28th Oct is on there (if I read right and thats when you're going) for 56,000 points.

You can get a maximum of 3 rewards per person, mix and match, but resort fees are still applicable.

I tend to just set the game on auto for 50/100 rolls - once you've got through the first few levels you'll get those options.

You can pay to buy chips to gamble with, however there's not really any need to - join a group about myvegas and there are lots of links for free chips. Even if it gets you one free night to spend on the strip it could be worth it

we've never bought any chips - all free...last trip we had $150 CC steakhouse, 2x Bellagio lunch buffet and 2x Criss Angel tickets on my hubby's account.

October trip we are trying to decide what to use our points for...the front runner plan now is 2x Zarkana regular tickets, 2x O tickets and the 2 Aria dinner buffets...we could get more 'stuff' - well, food...but realised that to use our points 'best' we would have 4 dinners committed and we kind of don't want that.

Some others have done much better than us out of it too - especially the early adopters before they put the points values up.

It is a bit of a slog for some of us though - i really dislike playing the games most of the time...it bores me, but my hubby enjoys it.

Mich81 - Can one person get more than one night at the same hotel/reward? I've not looked into those rewards too closely so assumed it would be one per person like most of those I have looked at.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

From what I've read, you could get a midweek room, midweek bonus room, and weekend room and put them all together - the general consensus seems to be that its 3 seperate rewards - so as long as they're under different titles then it would work? Or, just try out different hotels and move from one to the other each day!

Although, if there were 2 of you going you could each have a seperate account and put those together too.

I'm hoping to get Cirque tickets personally, and maybe a couple of buffet passes for Aria.

I'm giving it a go, but quickly realising they want you to buy chips, while you dont have to, theres a pretty good benefit in doing so...

I'll keep trying it out, but I ran out of chips quite quickly lol :P

I don't really see much benefit in buying them...I guess it depends on how much time you have...when you used to be able to buy a few chips and then get more than 3 rewards it was probably a good deal at the lower levels...but we'll struggle to use the points we have with 3 each unless we go for a bunch of food options we don't really want.

I normally do the spin each day and collect my hotel chips once a day (rarely more) and only actually play when there's a special offer of some sort...so I save up my chips so I have a fair amount to play with.

There are free chips on the fan page and stuff...I think strategy has been to play very low stakes until you get your hotels built then start playing higher levels but I may have that wrong.

Mich81 - thanks for the info, appreciated...we would not want to move multiple times (we normally do 5 nights and 3/4 nights) but good to know you may be able to bolt 3 different reward types for the same room together.

Ok I've stayed in quite a range.

First time i went we stayed Downtown in USA Hotels on Fremont which was like something out of CSI everyday. brilliant experience - saw bodybags being loaded into ambulances and so many drug deals. was offered a knife for 5c one day.
We were young so it was quite a laugh.

Next time we stayed in Stratosphere - it is too far out for me, yes. For not a lot more you can stay central strip which is what its all about really.
Nice hotel, however, and due to its location you tend to not get idiots wandering in and out.

Then I stayed in Tropicana and The Palazzo earlier this year with the wife (her first visit).
Trop was superb, clean, bright, great staff (fantastic in fact) and the drinks service was so prompt.
It's a touch on the smaller side but served a purpose.
The Palazzo was out of this world - we had a suite (they're all suites and it was only £90 a night through lastminute.com secret hotels) on the 46th floor. Utterly huge place - twinned with The Venetian its technically the largest hotel in the world. Food supreme, casino amazing, cocktails out of this world, room service to die for. Honestly it was the most unreal place.

I'm going again this year in November with my mates and we're staying Monte Carlo - it has a free tram taking you to CityCenter and then Bellagio which is a touch.
As long as it has a bed and a roof in the room I'm happy - i don't expect to see it much during a week of partying!!

Not sure if you have used the tram or not, but it is a quite a trek from the strip to the tram stops
