I was having a think...a few of the good low-cost drink spots are now going. Bill's is closed (I believe), so no more $2 margarita's. As is O'Shea's who used to do Bailey's slush for $2, amongst other things.
Aside from happy hours, what cheap drinks options are there now in Vegas?
The ones I can think of:-
Casino Royale $1 Margaritas and Michelob
Happy hours (generally until 6pm or slightly later)
One happy hour I used to like was Maggiano's at Fashion Show Mall. http://www.lvhhtime.com/maggiano's-little-italy.html This site also lists various other happy hours. I also like the one at Stir at Platinum, although we do stay there though and I'm not sure anyone would go just for happy hour, unless they were planning on visiting Ellis Island or Tuscany.0 -
Hi
We are looking to do a road trip with the family next year (kids will be 11 and 14) and are thinking of flying into Vegas to start with and having a couple of nights there before heading to the canyons. We are fairly restricted with when we can go and will have to fly at the end of July. I should be able to start hunting for flights in the next month as they get released - does anyone have any idea of a good price? I'd like to pay around £500 each (or less!) but is that being unrealistic? Am I likely to get the best prices as soon as the 11 month window starts or not?
Thanks - this thread has been really useful already!"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
Overall I actually preferred Zion...though the overnight stay at the south rim was spectacular for all the stars, I liked being down and looking up at Zion rather than looking over the GC, if you see what I mean? I know you can do hiking tours down in the GC but we didn't...I really enjoyed Zion a lot and would go there again one day.
See this is my dilemma! I really love the look of Zion! As soon as I saw it, I wanted to go there. But the Grand Canyon trip overnight at the South rim that we have booked, is purely for a been there done that reason and the kids can cross it off their list together with the Niagara falls
I just envisage, driving 5 plus hours and thinking is this it! I can't do both as I'm doing a picnic at the valley of fire for breakfast for my birthday - for me, this will be the true highlight of the trip. Travelling with a 20,16,14 and 5 year old, there's only so many rocks they can take
I've been in love with the Valley of fire for years-and didn't know what it was ,lol.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
I have wanted to do this for awhile - I think Norm was talking about having done a tour and I think it would be really fascinating based on what he told us.I better come clean then and say we have done a tour as well.:o,.after speaking to Pebbles
Did anyone used to watch that programme 'Bunny's Ranch'? It used to come on a good few years ago. It was based somewhere in Nevada and really was quite interesting. I'd love a tour of there-although not with the company on this trip, lol.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
So, its called a "guided tour" these days it is? :rotfl::rotfl:illegitimi non carborundum0

Lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I thought it might be something like the fly on the wall documentary I watched. I certainly wouldn't want any other 'guided tour':A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -

TBH I would stick with your plan and do the GC...as you say, everyone can cross it off their lists. Don't get me wrong, it was stunning and all...but what I remember most is the night sky - that was the best part for me...I would like to take another trip to Zion and look around more, GC I feel that I've done - at least to the extent that I would do it.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

We spent 4 nights in SF last year. We did Alcatraz and I think the whole trip from start to finish was about 3 hours. We also did Chinatown, Trolley Car ride, Golden Gate Bridge and Union Square. We didn't need 4 days for that, but we were visiting family and friends in the area, so we had that time to add to our itinerary. The highlight for me was meeting a friend for drinks at the View Lounge inside the Marriot Marquis in SF. The view was spectacular!
We don't gamble much either and manage not to get bored on our marathon trips.
Some of the more obscure things we have done are visit the bar in Goodsprings NV, where Clark Gable waited for the recovery of Carole Lombard's body after a plane crashed into a mountain. (For the youngsters, google them.)
Visited the marker where the railroad tracks met after they had started building from East and West.
Had a guided tour of a brothel in Pahrump.
Interesting, thanks for the info - we might switch our arrival into lax to San Francisco as we're flying premium economy and just noticed the new a380 BA had delivered is on the lhr to sfo route from October - tempting0 -
I remember Bunny's ranch. Think it was more than ten years ago tho.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
