I have just found that you can take the tour on Google maps. Put the address Sheri's Ranch, Homestead Road, Pahrump and drag the little yellow man to the building. You can see around the house and gardens. Of course, you don't get the semi-naked young lady showing you round and telling you little bits of info about their daily lives at the ranch. You can have a drink and a meal there too.0

Interesting, thanks for the info - we might switch our arrival into lax to San Francisco as we're flying premium economy and just noticed the new a380 BA had delivered is on the lhr to sfo route from October - tempting

Im going to Vegas on my Honeymoon on Sunday but dont have a credit card. Im worried about taking all our spending money in cash so was looking at a pre-paid credit card or the Post Office Travel money card, does anyone have any experience of using these cards or do they even work in vegas.
Due to previous credit problems we cant get a credit card and only have a visa debit from the Co Op bank. We could use this but not sure on fees for transactions.
Also if we wanted to hire a car while we are there then would we need a credit card to do this?
Thanks in advance.0 -

You may have a problem, I would suggest that you book your car now, from the UK from Carhire3000 or Netflights or any of the others mentioned on page 1. That way your car will be paid for, you will have the necessary insurances that you need without any aggressive upsell at the USA car counter and you won't waste precious holiday time getting it all sorted out.DFW Nerd 267. The ones I can think of:-
Casino Royale $1 Margaritas and MichelobTBH I would stick with your plan and do the GC...as you say, everyone can cross it off their lists. Don't get me wrong, it was stunning and all...but what I remember most is the night sky - that was the best part for me...
Not sure if you've been to Yosemite, but if not, try to make your trip co-incide with this - we thought it was good, even though I didn't really listen to the guy talking and just spent time lying on the blankets they provide, staring into the sky!http://www.yosemitepark.com/starry-skies.aspx

Interesting, of course maybe a separate thread might have been a good idea!
For lv i guess I'm just missing what everyone goes for - its my other half that wants to go, me, I've done the us from east to as far west as San Antonio - the other half has only ever done NYC.
I guess it comes down to if we don't pool party, we're not massive eaters and gambling, we might dabble a couple of bucks but nothing lie, what lv is known for - are we wasting time doing it. We're setting out and returning from la so I'm just trying to justify the days people say we need - the landscape and nature is our thing on this trip for sure...
As for Alcatraz, I'd like to see it from a distance and walk the golden gate, but not bothered about a Long Island visit taking up a large part of the day.
The first time we went to LV was on a tour of West Coast, we only spent 2 days there. At first I wasn't really that fussed about going to Las Vegas, I was much more interested in California....but before we'd even touched down into McCarran airport, I was in awe! We arrived at night, and of course the first thing we saw was the strip all lit up  It was amazing! Then walking through the airport, they had slot machines and Elvis Presleys Viva Las Vegas was playing, so kitsch!!
Even though we still had about 7-8 days left on the tour, I just wanted to stay in Vegas! Our next trip will be our 5th, so I guess that says it all!
If you only want to see Alcatraz from a distance, then like I said before, I wouldn't use up 4 days in San Fran, unless you have a list of things you'd like to do there of course?0 -
Thanks for the reminder - I've not really been in Casino Royale - is this from any bar in there or is it a dedicated one (like it seemed to be in Bills)
There is really just one bar in Casino Royale. I like their strawberry margheritas. The barmen really appreciate a tip as we got the impression when we tipped that it didn't happened very often.
Remember it also has the cheapest ATM fee on the strip at $1 per transaction.0 -
I would say 2-3 days is plenty in SF. Alcatraz is well worth the trip, but advisable to pre-book as it books up early.
We had a week in LA and didn't have a car, but saw plenty. 3 days were taken up with Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios.0 -
I was reading about the new zip wire that is opening in Fremont Street soon, it's like a massive slot machine (slotzilla), and there's 2 different wires, the standard one and the super hero one that actually propels you out fast! Has anyone heard anything else about it, ie when it's due to open?0
