as photome says you won't need to take the Strip to LVH as it is not on the Strip...think it's just short of a mile from CC not sure on distance to Las Vegas Blvd specifically but it's not that close to CC.
From experience (dont ask!!!) its a half hour walk from Wynn, including a shortcut across the golf course!!!

Thats shocking and it is what puts me off using cabs, although this year we are having to get one to the Orleans, in a few weeks, not looking forward to it

The shuttles *do* go to the Orleans too ....although it's a bit luck of the draw if you get dropped off last (never happened to me but a friend had a grand tour of Vegas and was the last drop -she said it was like a sightseeing tour :) )

I've never had an issue from the airport (got the usual excuses about an accident - and just smiled and said I'll take my chances thanks .....and amazingly the "accident" has always vanished by the time we get to it )and I'd have taken the driver's number and reported them in the case of the insane ranting cab driver.

I think our accents make us natural targets TBH as most drivers assume it'll be a first trip.

  • I now have a car every time I visit, for me it pays for itself compared to taxis, I enjoy the freedom of choice even for dining without paying another $20 for a cab ride and it is also good for popping out of town as the whim takes me.

There was a period where I used cabs from the airport, aware of the long hauling issue, if we had a first timer with us we would instruct the driver to drive the whole length of the strip as a photo, jaw drop opportunity. Yes it is costly but when you're likely to drop several thousand $$'s it is small change. Yes I am against getting ripped off but this is a holiday and it is nothing to the rank extortion you see every day here in London for visitors, likewise for any major city in Europe really.

I wonder if I am the only person on here that walks from the Airport to the strip, it only takes me 35-40 mins with a wheelie bag.

    Yes you are:eek:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

that's a perfectly legitimate reason for a Vegas trip, I think...while I don't think I'm quite at the breaking a bone to justify a quick return trip, check again in a few weeks when the last trip has worn off.

returning to snow yesterday was a bit special. :)

Oh I am definitely at that stage today !!!

I normally have a car every trip picking up from the airport, but this year picking up on my second afernoon (48 hours from landing) has saved me £100, but left me needing that cab, as its to the Orleans the tunnel may be quicker but will still request surface streets.

Dont fancy the shuttle or buses and def not walking:eek: why would you:(

Depends on the time of year and as someone else said which hotel of course-I'll hazard a guess it's not the Riviera ;)
