Thanks for the replies...we land about 8pm so I'm guessing the strip will be busy then

as photome says you won't need to take the Strip to LVH as it is not on the Strip...think it's just short of a mile from CC not sure on distance to Las Vegas Blvd specifically but it's not that close to CC.

thanks Luci & pebbles for clarification on best route to LVH...we feel a bit differently, we just want to get to our hotel NOW so we don't mind paying a bit more, even if it is over the odds. :)

We have always been less than 15 mins from airport to hotel so I can't see that taking the freeway would get us there any quicker.

Not sure if I should own up to this or not,but after just getting back from Vegas 2 weeks ago,I have booked to go again 23rd April for 10 nights.
If I can quickly explain,I will give my poor " excuse" as to why I need to go back just a few weeks after being there.
You see,in November I had a complete break of the bone in my arm.I went to the doctor, and he told me he thought it was just swollen, and to put ice on it.A week later it looked horrible, swollen and still very painful. So I went to the hospital, they x-rayed it,and the bone was quite a distance apart from each other. They said in normal cases they would operate straight away by pinning the bone together. But I have psoriatic arthritis, and the medication I take, along with damaged joints, makes the Op a more risky proposition.
Anyway,to cut a Long story short,While my arm was in plaster there was no bone regrowth ( a non-union of the bone) in the first 2 months.I had x-rays done after we returned from our recent trip, and it showed some regrowth had started.I asked if it could be due to the sunshine and shot of vitamin D while away, and he said it may have helped.
Well,at the moment it's freezing here in Cumbria, and plenty of snow,so it is my professional opinion ;) that the better weather may help the bone grow. After all,an operation would be risky.
The only problem is my wife is a bank manager in our local town, and can't just get time off when she wants,so I am going without her, which in truth I'm not looking forward to that. However the in laws say they fancy coming,so the three of us are going in four weeks.
I have had a few comments as to why I need to go all the way back to vegas so soon,if its just sunshine I need, why not a dirt cheap trip to Spain or somewhere.....Dont think I need to answer that question on here do you ? :rotfl:

that's a perfectly legitimate reason for a Vegas trip, I think...while I don't think I'm quite at the breaking a bone to justify a quick return trip, check again in a few weeks when the last trip has worn off.

returning to snow yesterday was a bit special. :)

I know you are right...but I live in fear of the scenario where we say no tunnel and the cabbie says 'as you wish' and we get stuck due to some traffic related tragedy the driver knew about but was doing what he/she was told...so we just stick to the fastest route as they may determine...I know we probably pay over the odds sometimes in doing so so no one should ever listen to me about taxi advice, ever. ;)

I live in Cumbria too. I escaped just before the snow invaded last week. No need to excuse yourself to me.

pebbles, you should have told her it is your right to be taken any route you request. That is the law.

This is the number for complaints although you would need her name or badge number

    (702) 668-4005 or send email to taxiauth@taxi.state.nv.us.

I have that number in my phone
I have it in my phone too, and when she kicked off and made the U turn, I took a picture of her ID. I didn't report her because I thought she was close to cracking up, and I didn't want any more delays after the one caused by her behaviour. I would have had to wait around if I'd called right then.

Might be worth an email in that case seeing as you have her ID. If she was having such a bad day that she couldn't be civil to a paying customer then she should have taken the day off.

Ferf, we have heard all the stories from the taxi driver saying the surface streets are backed up, there's been an accident, etc but I just ignore them and repeat that I want to take Swenson. Haven't seen anything that unduly delayed us getting to our hotel, and that is arriving on a Friday night and in the taxi between 7 and 8pm. One driver actually muttered that the "blockage must have cleared" once we got going.

Yes the traffic is mad busy and we have been sitting for a couple of minutes at traffic lights, but still get to the hotel in less than 15 minutes.

They may be able to drive faster on the freeway, which might lull you into thinking you are getting there faster as you are not sitting in traffic, but they take a longer route so I can't see how it saves time.
