We have a metro bank account, fee free abroad. You can open an account and get the bank card on the same day.
Normally bring $1000 in cash and withdraw more as and when. Utilising an in room safe.
Also put some purchases on a credit card but obviously this is not at the best rate. :o

I too tend to take $1000 cash with me for a 2 week stay initially with the remainder for me coming through my Halifax Clarity Card.

The room safe as vanilla8 says is the way to go! If using the Clarity Card for example it is better to take your max withdrawl IF it's a fee paying ATM if you find one which isn't then come and go as you please.

I tend to keep a few money wallets/envelopes back in the safe whereby I split my cash per day which allows me to keep it separate from what I've withdrawn and will plan to use that day. I think it helps me add a bit of control.

On target for just over $300 p/d this summer...going to be an almighty two week blow out! Glad I've somehow managed to get the chickenpox now and not just before :rotfl:

Woohoo!!Finally got our seats booked on VA flight from Manchester,90 days today!!Managed to get seats on the upper deck ( or the bubble)Dunno if they are better than general cattle class,I generally try for the back 2 seats but you end up last of the plane to get off therefore last in line at customs. They were the last seats left up there so I figured they were ok.Still gotbthe trauma of booking return seats next week as they wouldn't let me do that today.

Never travelled up there but on some planes the last row doesn't recline. Not sure if VS is one of those but probably worth checking.

I know the back row of seats in normal cattle class dont recline as much as the others but just wondered wether the bubble was the same or is any different. It doesnt bother me about seat reclining Im more concerned about wether it is cramped or tight for space up there. My OH and son are very tall and OH likes to stand up for a large part of the journey hence the reason I book seats at the back!!!I encourage him to do so so I can spread out across his seat!!

The driver that picked us up at Mccarran must have been having a bad day. We got in, told her the destination, (Orleans) and asked for no tunnel, surface only. She said I will get you there the quickest way after your long flight, and I replied with so long as that doesn't include going through the tunnel.

That set off a major rant from her.

Who told you to say that?
Why can't you just let me do my job?
How come you're such an expert on the best way to get there when you've just arrived?
I calmly replied that it was my 20th visit and I knew that I wanted to go on surface streets only, not the tunnel.

She started screaming that I was calling her a criminal and she wouldn't stand for it. She did a U turn and took us back to the airport to get another cab. The meter was at $12 when she dropped us back, so her rant cost her that much at least.

The second driver was fine. Took us the way we asked, and although the traffic was heavy along Tropicana, the fare was just short of $20. I paid $25.

I still have no idea what upset her so much. Any ideas?

Thats shocking and it is what puts me off using cabs, although this year we are having to get one to the Orleans, in a few weeks, not looking forward to it

Saw this on Groupon today $69.99 for 2 tickets to be used in the next 180 days (20th September).

Haven't seen the show, sounds like a reasonable deal. Anyone know if it's a good deal compared to ticket booths etc? Also, will it include all taxes, ie would it only be $69.99 and no other charges (such as tax etc) added?

I'm dying to see a Gaetano's one that will last till we go now :)
