Not being in the school clique! ***UPDATE***

We are really looking forward to our special day now, and hope the sun shines, we have about 15 members of the family, and a few of our daughters friends who she plays with in our road, coming to our little marquee in the garden with plenty of food and drink for all.
My wife is happy with everything now, and feels a relief to be coming home straight after mass, kicking her heels off, putting her slippers on, and chilling in the garden, with our *real* friends and families.
(BUT- she DID have to say her piece!!!)0 -
YAY! Im glad it got sorted!!! Well done to 'mummyto3' for getting it off her chest too!!!You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

I haven't read the entire thread as I need to go and mow the lawn
but I can understand how your wife feels. I've never been part of the cliques, not when I was at school, not in our street and not at DDs school.
It is hard not to take it personally and I always wonder what is wrong with me and why don't people like me. I think that, on the whole, I'm a nice person who is ready to help anyone out in a crisis if I can.
It seems to me that the people that I know who are 'in' seem to use their friends - it doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps, Mummyto3 would like to know full-time-mum (to2) - I think we might understand each other7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
sounds like a good result all round and only laughing slightly at the increased bill for the 'invitiation onlys', honest... :rotfl:0

Fab news! Have a wonderful day with your family x0

fulltime mum
I am like you and have never been one of the 'popular people' or one of the cliques.
I have come to the conclusion that I'm either too nice or too ordinary and not willing to 'keep up with the jones' which is why i was never part of the groups.
now I'm older I dont care any more. I have a wonderful family and they are all the clique I need. I really dont need superficial friendships in my life.
dont worry -- its not you --- its them who have a problem
take care
and great to hear about the first communion resolution daddyto3

That is fantastic news!! It's such a shame that so many people have felt or are still feeling upset. The woman who started the whole arrangement (probably in very good faith, albeit slightly misguided in some of the wording she's used) must be feeling absolutely wretched now that her good intentions have unwittingly caused someone else such sadness. It certainly sounds as though she's distressed about it. I so hope that this won't cloud either hers or her child day on Sunday (just as much as we hoped that it wouldn't cloud yours or your daughters). I imagine that now this scenario is out in the open, and has been settled that your wife will want to give her a hug next time she sees her to show that there are no hard feelings.
I imagine that 'story' will get back to the school / father and that if he's anything like our father, he'll make sure that a message of community spirit when organising such events comes across in time for next years preparations.
BTW - I didn't understand about the juice and cakes either after mass .... I thought this was something the church paid for rather than school, and even if both funds were enormously depleated parents could be asked to pay say 50p (we've a pot to put donations in for tea / coffee / cakes every week anyway). Ours is just a kind of extension of coffee time, nothing big or fancy, except it's a specially iced cake that the children share.0 -

Darling Daughter (sometimes seen as DD1, DD2, DD3) ... along those lines I bet you can guess what DS stands for.
