Ditching Sky Sports For The Summer?

Am thinking about phoning Sky up as I'm currently on full package which I hardly use. Only thing I am worried about is that I took out Sky Broadband with them last December and I'm pretty sure they made me sign a new 12 month contract. I therefore cannot threaten to cancel can I?
This happened to me, i threatened to cancel sky cos i wanted sky+ free, i think you are correct in thinking you signed a 12m contract. However, its worth checking how they can actually enforce the free broadband contract. I got the sky+ anyway, but i was told that if you write in, in mitigating circumstances they can cancel the broadband.
If i were you, i would down-grade to the free broadband (assuming you aren't already) & then try to get through to cancellations explaining your circumstances (mention you money probs etc) & see what they'll do for you.
HTH, goodluckNo one said it was gonna be easy!0 -

Well I've just ditched sky and kept the plus option for a tenner.
Skyplus is free from 1st July but only if you are subscribing to channels so I will still be paying a tenner.
SSN must have been dropped because they said I could have it as part of the £15 option whichever this is.
I'm sure I'll be phoning up the day the prem season starts but at least i will have saved £50 over the next 2 months.0 -
After reading this thread last week i mentioned to the moosus that i was thinking of trying to get sky sports at a reduced rate over the summer...low and behold the following day she informed me that she had phoned up and cancelled it for me!!!! whats a man to do???:cool:It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.
Your father pedals car telephones at a 300 percent markup. Your mother works on heavy commission at a camera store. Graduated to it from espresso machines. Hah!0 -

Sky is in Mrs. G's name so she rang to down grade. Have just found out thay Sky have said they require 30 days notice? Is this correct as I am not in a 12 month contract? Completely pointless if so as would on'y save a month before the new footy season.
If so would I be better going for the £15 option as I guess this doesn't require 30 days notice.
If anybody can point me in the direction of the T's and C's I would be very grateful as I've not heard of this 30 day rule before. I'll be cancelling altogether at this rate and stopping the DD.0 -

Who told you this please?0 -
I added Sky Sports for the cricket (I know, it wasn't very exciting). I've cancelled it now and kept the basic package for £15.00. I'll add Sky Sports again when the football starts. You can change your package once a month.
So does thie require a months notice or changes straight away to the £15?0 -
I add/remove when I feel like it and remove from the moment I phone, so get a rebate the next payment.
I'm going to go for the new setanta offer this time though0
