Siouxie, I think that Bicarbonate of soda is good for removing smells from stuff - worth a try.

I''ve noticed that we're eating a lot better this month whilst on a restricted budget! I'm planning so carefully what I am buying and batch cooking that there is always something good ready to eat, rather than nipping to the supermarket and buying what ever is easy. As I'm not leaving it all to the last minute I've also had time to be a bit more imaginative and creative.
Who'd have thought it - less money, better food???

Today will be another quiet and frugal one, except I'm going to take my DH ice skating which will cost 15 francs. Still, not bad.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Siouxie, i would try Gien's suggestion.

hopefully NSD 6 today, got a vat of tomato sauce to use up. once i have made room from the freezer, i can freeze some of it.

unfort this challenge has meant my freezer is chock a block, but so far really working, havent gone to the supermarket since 2nd of jan. normally i would go every couple of days for bits and bobs

Does anyone know how to get the smell of soup out of a flask? I've lost count of the number of washes I've given it. I stored the flask with the lid off for the last month and I can still smell the remnants of lentil soup :(

Rinse it out and put a tablespoon of sugar in the empty flask - leave overnight (or maybe less!)

  • Morning. Busy making plans to achieve a NSD. Day off with DD2 today so am thinking of a free swim and then visiting grandpa. Just mustering the energy for school run first. Still not shaken this lurgy and shattered post nights. L2B.x

:T:T:T Well done!! I spent £ yesterday on a planned catch up with a friend. I need some more NSDs, but this challenge is making me realise how easy it is to fritter away cash daily without thinking about it!

YAY Well done Marylea on the job!

Going to be a spend day today. Did an online shop last night to be delivered this evening. Estimated cost £53 so impressed with that. Also going to pop into town at lunch to buy a beef joint for the weekend (there'll be plenty left over for butties too) but didn't want to order online as I'd rather see and choose my own IYKWIM. Also going to buy some foil containers from £1 shop to cook lasagnes, fish pies etc in so I can freeze them without using up all my pyrex dishes.

Hubby's cancelling his phone contract today which will save £20 a month. He was given a work's phone a couple of months ago but the penalties for cancelling his contract early were more expensive than running it out.

Good Morning to you all! Firstly a massive CONGRATULATIONS to Marylea... this is superb. Been suggested for one myself - with a hand in date of Sunday ( weirdos )..Tempted now with this run of goodluck you are all having...

Yesterday was spent on my own. No great surprise there:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.... however I spent a few pennies in Holland and Barrett for 4 items ...Wheatgerm (Vitamin E), Omega Mix seeds, Dandelion coffee and MSM powder ( Sulphur ).. all planned for however it takes me WELL over my foody budget. ***groan***... £21.54. The Sulphur is for my skin, a superb supplement that unfortunately costs £15...

Anyway last night I got home and into bed for midnight following my meeting - nearly froze my mitts off on the way home though.. this morning me and the Mog were up with the birdies at 0500 but me thinks the birdies had more sense and stayed in bed... another long day today and yes I was naughty and had a poached egg on seeded bread from the canteen .. (85p )..I shall make this up I promise,...NAUGHTY NSK!!

I shall have a read through all the posts and comment more tonight. Just needed to check in on my chickadees, make sure you aren't all frozen and wish you a wondrous day!. :T:T:T

    Onwards and Upwards!!

  • Aaaaahhhhh i am weak!!! The sole fell of my boots at the weekend and i needed to buy some new. I've been hankering after a certain pair of boots for over a year but they have always been too expensive. Saw them reduced to 38 quid and i bought them. Naughty i know but instead i shall cancel 2 if my planned meets with friends to recoup. Had to confess. Im bad :-(

  • Oh L2B this made me SMILE. I looked through DUNE and Jone's and was so SAD that I wasn't allowed to buy anything... ( whilst clutching my H&B bag ).. if you needed new ones its better to buy them now in the sales and they are clearly needed if your others are falling to bits... don't beat yourself up too much..

  • Morning all!

Marylea - YAYYYY! Well done you. Fab fab amazing news :D

Just a quick catch up, few more things ending on ebay today but not holding out much hope. Good vibes please everyone!

A payday in our house today has knocked another £80.00 off the big debt, which takes the CC balance to under 4000, first time in forever :D

    Happy thursday all!
