Strictly was absolutely FAB U LOUS!!!!!
Well Jan is over, and all in all, I came in under budget on the spends even if I had to take from different purses to pay for things. Basically over on food, under on going out and had things not budgeted for....
Didnt make the grade on fleaby or collect £25, but have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and its made me carefully look at being a smidge careful with the old cash flow.
Thankyou to everyone for support, tips and generally just being here. NSK, you rock!!!

  • Morning all :)

Just a final update from me for January.

I managed 16 no spend days. Not met the target but it was pretty good. Will try harder in Feb. The last day of Jan involved a bit of ebay shopping (oops). Only with money made on ebay but still. A bit naughty :o

Not bought any fuel :D I filled up on 31st Dec and then hadn't needed to fill up before my accident! I am usually the main user as we are a one car family and I use it for travelling to work, grocery shopping and visiting mum (which I haven't been able to do since I slipped). Hubby has used the car quite a bit the later half of the month, delivering ebay sales, viewing and collecting more stock and getting to uni. He has obviously put fuel in but not me!

For groceries I ended up spending £290  so £70 over budget (and hubby did some top ups which I haven't counted). I was planning to use the nectar points but as hubby tried to cash them in at a shop where the card had not been used previously they wouldn't accept them so I had to reimburse him the £50 spent. I am quite shocked at what we spend on groceries and have just been doing an inventory of the food cupboards, more on this in February. I need to take control!

Weight loss - pretty static - may have gained a couple of pounds with being inactive and making cakes :D I am going to try harder to loose weight in Feb but again that is for the new thread.

I have saved nothing! I have lent money to hubby to buy stock to sell so he should hopefully repay me by the end of feb. He has some apple shares he was hoping to sell for a profit to fund it but the price has dropped so he is going to hang fire on that for now.

In addition, I have had a few big spends which were planned. Our holiday is all booked. The money was there for that and also I bought my new phone costing me £100 up front. We have a new sofa and chair from the furniture auctions and I love them :) These were paid for from sales of other stuff on ebay :) And I freecycled the old ones so that was my good deed for the month.

I didn't make my ebay target making just £80.00 but it will at least more than cover my ebay purchases and I do have 30 listings coming up on Sunday. Hopefully will do better in Feb.

So that is about it for me. Well done everyone and thanks Kat for the thread and motivation! See you on the Feb thread :T

Hi all just checking in with totals for January which I forgot to do!

NSD's - 24 just missed out due to no teabags and milk! I found this a bit hard as I was clearing freezer and cupboards so not doing full shops rather bits and pieces. No frivolous purchases though.

Make £155 - yes achieved but due to more work rather than ebay which was a fail. Also received a tax rebate of over £800 which was a real boost.

Find £25 - yes in pennies and piggy banks

petrol - went over my £100 budget by £30 due to snow and longer month so not too unhappy about that.

Food £200 - Managed on £136 odd so well under but this was due to having stuff in so this may get more challenging.

Beauty - Less than £5 - came in under budget at £3.84 which was on shampoo/conditioner on BOGOF although had to go to work using teen boys deodorant for last couple of days!!

Packed lunches 22/22 yes go me! was fairly disciplined with this each night.

    Sales visited - none

    weight loss - 3Ibs total 17Ibs since 7/12/2012

So thats me! I have my 'debt box' which I will be chipping away at throughout the year.

Thank you Kat for starting the challenge it has been brilliant for motivation and perseverance.

March 2020 - gone to pot...
    April 2020 - £339.45/£200
    May 2020 - £194.99/£300
  • Just a late check in from me to say thanks to NSK for running this thread.
Blew my grocery budget but came in well under on petrol. Found a little bit of money, but I just cannot bear eBay. I try and try but it just doesn't seem to do it for me.
Just managed to make my 25 nsd's, and lost 8lb weightwise.
I think January has been quite a good one for me to be honest.
It's 3rd today so too late to sign up for Feb but I wish everyone luck.
