  • Just want to say, before we all move over to feb and this drops off the radar, a huge and sincere THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU!!!

Thank you Kat, for giving your time and effort and starting this whole thing.

Thank you everyone else for being here. For cheering on the good days and sharing the bad days. You all make me feel safe in the comfort that I'm not alone. I've always got something I've read here in my head when I'm about to spend. It might be drawing strength from someones massive NSD tally. It might be remembering that it's not always easy, and others find it hard. It's the highs and lows and being able to share them that has made this easier to cope with on a daily basis. I KNOW that with this support network i'll get there, we all will. And a special thanks to my agony aunt who helped me see sense when I thought I was being a muppet and had fair and good words of advice. It's not been forgotten.

And I know I blather on, and people are probably sick of seeing my posts, and i'm sorry, but it just helps me massively being able to come here and chat / comment / vent / celebrate it all. In January, thanks to you lot and you support, I managed to pay off £1000.00 more than I had proposed. And you lot helped me do that.

So I know the road is long, and i'm not there yet, but you have all helped me take a huge leap closer to my goal. So really, thank you.

Now i'm off to budget for the Feb challange.

And as always, will be going onwards and upwards!! :j:j:j
  • I come creeping in with a confession. I have been good this month till the weekend. Then its all gone horribly wrong. Bought a new handbag today. Have been after one for a while that is big enough to fit my purse and diary in and it is gorgeous!!! But i should have just sewn my old one up.
All you guys work so hard to bring your costs down and i was feeling so low that i splurged. Sad times. L2B.x

  • Okais so I haven't been on MSE for a while (tut tut) but I have just been extremely busy lately. I come back and see that the February challenge is up and running so will go and have a look!

Anyway... The reason for my title... I have just bought a new car :o

I know I know not very MSE of me however, it is only slightly more than what a pay on my current account however the running costs are a lot lower (tax, insurance, servicing etc) so it works out that I am better off in the long run. Plus my car is getting to that age where everything will soon need to be replaced.

But on a more positive note my wages are due to increase in Feb and March so that will balance it out and also leave me with more money to clear my debts :j so don't worry I am still on a debt free mission!

Anyway I am on 23 NSDs with 2 days left and have slightly gone over my shop budget but I am under on my petrol budget so I am happy.

    Bring on February!!!

  • Well now I turn my back for one minute and Candy is off buying a shiny new car....L2B has a brand new bag..(Fluffy is probably hugging her's right now)...Naughty chickadees!! But I believe some things can be over looked now and then... hmmm a new car cannot be avoided though.. and it sounds economical compared to the last one..

I am going to let this slide ladies...ahem... and turn a blind eye..:p

So yes UFC is up and almost running. I am thrilled that everyone is jumping on board like the loons I know you all are.. I am loving the support you show each other, the encouragment, the virtual hugs and the general love and understanding. We will keep this ball rolling until Thursday night though... lets hit the end with a big stick and start afresh on Friday morning!!!

    Onwards and Upwards!!

  • Sorry Miss Kat :o

We all did it for the right reasons I'm sure! And I promise we will make up for it :p

It is a lovely new car though....

I bought a shiny brand new car last year and it's saved me an absolute fortune. Yes it costs ££ every month (my old one was paid off), but the fuel consumption is about half what the old car was (saving £60 a month), the tax is less than half of what the old one was (saving £20 a month), there's no MOT (this is the biggest saving of all - each year as it got older, it was more of a struggle to pass the MOT and I always got the call to say it'll cost X to fix it - usually X was in the high hundreds ) so yes, a shiny new car may seem extravagant but it WILL save you money (and be ultra reliable, and be nice to drive, and it smells fab ).

I'm limping towards the end of this month. Payday was about 20 minutes ago and I have done the monthly money shuffle and there's not a lot left!! But that's a story for the February challenge.

I have no more spending to do this month so I'll do a quick update once I have all my numbers together. I think I made the NSD and budget challenge (mostly :p) and, although my money making/money finding was less on the ball than usual, I made it to the end of the month without having to resort to payday loans and cheque cashing (which is where I was 2 years ago ). In fact, I made it to the end of the month with 19p in my bank :D

Hurrah to each and every one of us :T:T:T:T:T
  • Siousxie you are right .. in the long run a new vehicle makes sense!!! Glad you are saving so much as Candy clearly made the right decision there...

However GOOD MORNING to you all!!.. Anyone else got the sniffles, sore throat, achy body, headyness and general "feel-sorry-for-me" syndrome... hope it passed FAST TIME!!.. I am making a pineapple upside down cake for me and the girlfriend who packed in sugar for January as a treat.. although I think I am going to continue with it but just HAVE to celebrate with her... just need my taste-buds in full working order by Saturday...

My pay is looking horrific.. no OT makes me annoyed. I can't get it into my account this month at all. I will have to grin and bear it!! More stories for FEB the better...

    Onwards and **atchoooo** Upwards..
