January's Big Financial Freeze!!!

  • the crisps/kids "mum's on an NSD so no chance" really made me howl! :rotfl:

sounds like January's been a really tough one for everyone. I was OK until a couple of days ago but have had a really horrendous cold and cracked on the food front. HM pizza was in the freezer so I did an emergency run to the co-op on a feelgood mission. Definitely one to plan for in the future - I always have this if I get ill so need to think about having an emergency stash. I run things very close to the wire and only have in what I need normally, as I tend to eat whatever junk food's in the house otherwise.

Food spends are at £90.65 including the co-op run, £10 over but I know why, and it does include the £8 YS stash which I still haven't used all of. And I only realised the other day that co-op stickers are orange not yellow :rotfl:

Total spends are sat at an eye watering £352.85 this month, including £58 diesel, £83 at the vet, £23 on food/coffee out and about and £37 on alcohol.

The vet was a one off, food/coffee is OK as this has been with friends and I'm in a new city so that's really important. Diesel should be halved in Feb. Alcohol - definitely the one to reduce.

You'll all be thrilled to know that with some very dedicated tea drinking, I have reduced the tea bag mountain to half of what it was  looks like I'll be on the tetley for another month. I can't wait for earl grey again

I've done well on the NSDs the last week - being ill means I've hardly been out so that's helped. I need to track these better in Feb (got a lovely diary at last though so should be fine on that one), but as I shop for food every couple of days I think I will ignore food spend days.

My main mission for Feb will be increasing my social stuff - I've kept things quiet in Jan while I was preparing for my exam, but combining that with a tightly controlled food/spend month has been very depressing so I need to work on the balance for that. I have lots of ideas though so am looking forward to the challenge :D

The support here has been brilliant... roll on February, I'm ready  :money:

A friend of mine mixes her tea bags, soa pot would have one regular and one earl grey. It's not as strong, which is sometimes a nice thing, but in your case it would not be as Tetley! Does rely on making a pot though, and if you're the only tea drinker probably won't help.

Nothing much to report from me, another NSD. Generally feeling a bit low. There are reasons, but not feeling up to admitting them here. Don't worry it hasn't cost be money! In fact it's kind of sved me lots . . . but still disapointed.

Not a NSD for me today. Bought audio books for M (I was tempted by a voucher code and he does love them) and some ink for the printer.

Happy to say I have just finished the tax return :j:j:j

It wasn't to bad to do and as I only had 2 avon campaigns in the previous tax year I actually made a £23 loss so they owe me a fiver :D

Tomorrow, I am going to start working out my figures for this year so far so that it isn't such a big job when the time comes. Be nice to see how it is going too. I am terrible for leaving stuff to the last minute but I do usually get there int the end :o

Lots of watchers on my ebay stuff but no bids yet. Fingers crossed for some sales at the weekend.

Off to check out the shiny new thread :T

    Hey!!!

Thanks L2B for the comments... If we feel low, tired and out of energy... take a deep breath... picture our debt free life a step nearer if we just carry 'onwards and upwards'. I'm just going to make sure I properly recharge on my days off... bath... plenty of sleep... a good book... etc.

Hugs too Karmachi... Sending you positive vibes!!!

    Today = NSD number 20

Thanks for 'The Ultimate February Challenge' Kat... and for your dedication to these challenges. You're working flat out and the time you put in here too is appreciated!!! <hugs>

Woohoo looking fwd to thursday. Finally the end of January and payday. Can't wait for the February challenge to start. BF is out so had another rake through and found another three items to put on ebay, but as I'm only allowed ten still (need more feedback I think) I at least put up another one to make up the ten for this month :) That's getting addictive, I keep checking my watcher numbers :o
