NSD mumber 4 for me Wohoo!! It was a bit touch and go this pm as DH, DS (15) and me went out for a walk. Halfway there DS announces he 'forgot' to eat lunch and was 'really' hungry  In normal circs we would zip into a shop and get something). As I am on JFF without the rest of the family knowing (secret debt to pay off - long story but 80% paid off now and hoping to be debt free by Easter - sooner if JFF goes well :)) I spent the rest of the walk resigning myself to the thought of today becoming a spend day and having to buy a sarnie for him. Anyway nearing the end of the walk he decided he fancied tomato soup (which i had at home!!) and very happy when I told him that I had made bread this morning too :) So a NSD for me Yipee!!!

Sorted out the fridge veg drawers this morning and made 'bottom of the fridge' soup - I now have 5 lunches to take to work, and roasted root veg curry (2 portions left over for freezer) There was a time when this veg would have just been left to rot and then chucked out. I can't believe how much food it has turned into!!

Sorry to ramble - but this challenge is turning into a real eye opener in terms of what can be done with some focus and enthusiam (sp?) Thanks Kat!

DITTO for me too MumsieMum.........curried parsnip and potato soup.......parsnips were bought in November and potatoes were sprouting......turned out lovely and made about 8 portions! And 'FREE' on Slimming World. I am dismayed by the amount of food some people (and me previously) throw away......unles it is green and furry, it gets eaten in our house!

Now today has been an odd kind of day! I'm really pleased to have sold 4 things on ebay today (2 of which were relists) and made over £19....yippee! I know this a long way off the £155 target we've got, but this is the first time in ages that I've made some money on ebay.

But then, to the other extreme, we've been out at spent nearly £1200 today on showers and toilets and basins and tiles to have our bathroom redone. BUT - this is all being paid for out of money that's been saved purposely for this project. We made the most of sale prices and additional 20% off deals to get the best prices for what we were after.

Anyway, schools back tomorrow, and hopefully some semblance of routine will follow!

    Hello

Sold some things on Ebay and made £46.72 :j Relisted the unsold items for next weekend (and reduced a couple of prices). Hubby did good. A few things have sold making him a good profit so he is chuffed :T

Asda shopping, bread and paper came to £76.13. Will update sig in a mo.

Not had to put any fuel in yet :)

Yesterday has been counted as a NSD so that is 4 in total so far. Tomorrow will probably be a spend as we plan to go out somewhere as a family. Not sure where yet. Depends on weather.

As well as my shopping - today was a big spending day as we have booked our holiday!!!! :o We always planned to go away at Easter, my aim this time is to do it without overspending. While holidays aren't cheap, we are very MS about it. I found a package holiday offer with Thomsons and then we worked out how to do it cheaper by booking flights, hotels and car hire separately. We are off to Majorca and will be flying with Easyjet. We are having a night in a cheap hotel near the airport (as we arrive late), a weeks car hire while we are at the Thomson hotel on the east coast and then we are having 3 nights near Palma without a car before flying home. I am sooooo excited :j

Now off to check how you are all doing. Hope you are all well and those who were feeling poorly or down are feeling better x

  • quick one just reporting where I'm up to... will catch up properly tomorrow.

Saturday - technically NSD as I only spent on food

Sunday (today) - also an NSD, gave someone a lift so she bought me a coffee after today's run hurrah! :money: normally I would have said, no don't worry I'll get my own, but I didn't have enough with me so I gladly accepted :D

Food spend currently £12ish, £20ish if you include my NYE yellow sticker haul.

Back to college tomorrow..... MUST RESIST THE CAFE!!!! going to make myself a latte to have with my breakfast as I have a decent coffee machine and that should see me off to a good start.

hope everyone's Mondays are ok :)

Thanks Kat, I'm fine. Nothing really to be miserable about, just a bit of end-of-holiday-blues.
It is ages since I've been as fat as this - I've got tons of leggings etc that I could wear, but of course I need to be reasonably smart for work. I got rid of all of my fat clothes a year ago, vowing I'd never go back there, but I'm sure I'll find something to go around me.
I am trying, back on SW - it's only day 4 so far but at least I've started. I want to get the same attitude to weightloss as I have for moneysaving and debtbusting.

I am SW convert too.......and when I follow 'the plan' find it actually does work!.......it is my SW mentality that has spurred me on to deal with debts, I truly believe the two go hand in hand! Best of Luck!

Hi all last check in to report...planned spend today but managed to get some real bargains so only £10.59 which should last until the weekend. Menu plan in place and packed lunch in fridge and tea tomorrow prepped.
Doing a bit rubbish on the ebay front and really have so much 'stuff' just not enough time oh well work in progress.
On a positive note found t*sco vouchers worth £36 so going to check out how best to use them.

  • Good Morning all.. just a quick check in!

Ninno - that's fine! You have 8 years though, settle in, get your feet under the MSE table and we will fight this with you!:j

Thrifty... big hugs to you in order to get you back on here and fighting fit. You poor doll - its not nice being that sick!!:(

To everyone else - FIGHT ON!!! .. this is effectively week 2 and everyone is doing so well. Tomorrow and Wednesday might be NSD's for me so I am probably going to get my chilli con carne bits today.. But I might just resort to making soup and only get myself some pitta bread to go with it... keep the penny spending DOWN

Feel GREAT for having no sugar for 7 days though!!! It's highly recommended!

NSK - I wonder if you'd mind elaborating on this? When you say you've had no sugar, do you mean you haven't touched a sugar bowl, or do you mean no sugar, biscuits, cakes, sweets, chocolate etc, or do you mean no sugar at all, eg: fruit, juice etc?

Also, in what way do you feel so great that you would highly recommend going without? Do you have more energy? Are you feeling slimmer already? Less tired and sluggish?

I hope I don't come across as rude, it's just that I desperately need some sort of motivation to kick start a better lifestyle and need to lose weight, and so when someone says they feel GREAT I'm interested to know more!

Hi NicNocs, one thing I have noticed since I've been with my OH (who is veggie, I'm not) is that when I eat meat I now feel quite poorly, sluggish and generally bleurgh for a few days afterwards. We were watching a TED lecture a few months back about a lady that went from not being able to walk & being wheelchair bound, to being able to get up and do loads of stuff...if I can find the link I'll post it up in a bit. Basically she started eating tonnes and tonnes of kale (really good for you) and cut down on the amount of meat she consumed. Not sure if that'll help you at all, but I defo have more energy when I eat lots of yummy veggies and the best thing I do is have a HM fruit smoothie, you feel the energy behind your eyes....you'll understand when you do it :D
