First day back at work after the xmas hols and what a day its been. Have been greeted home by the news that my husband is possibly being made redundant
. There are three of them competing for one job and its just a complete nightmare. His work have all the procedures to go through so won't find out for 2 weeks and what a long two weeks they are going to be. We have a huge mortgage, four children including twins who have just turned one and a huge debt to service - what an absolute nightmare.
All the more reason for me to get my head down with this challenge. Had a planned spend day today - fuel for both cars and weekly food. Spent £55.39 in total but got a LOT of shopping for that. Was hoping to keep to £40 pw but will take the extra £15 from next weeks shop as certainly won't need much for next week now - just fresh bits.
Had another £1.42 tesco price promise voucher from mums Tesco receipt and found £3.30 in my work drawer - every little helps, especially at the moment!!!
Packed lunches are made and ready for tomorrow, bags are packed, now to sit down with hubby and put together a worst case scenario emergency financial plan. Just typical that for the first time in over 10 years we just start to tackle our financial situation seriously and in the same week he finds this out
Hope everyone is having a better day than me!!!
XXX
Oh that's terrible news - what a shock. At least you're going to get a plan up together just in case.
Hoping the worst doesn't happen

Becks,

Whatever happens you will find a way round. Stick your heads together and you will come up with a plan. Hope you dont actually need to use it XX0 -
Sorry about that Becks but hopefully hes in the running for the job so fingers and toes crossed for you...
Now i know i have been missing due to this damn flu but when did the thread move and become a diary....... I was beginning to think i had imagined it all!!!
Well counting my start date as 6th Jan as flu induced shopping stuff happened before then but head mostly clear and thinking more or less straight now, rather than doing a ten minute trolley dash as i couldnt stand up any longer...
Still sorting out the budget for the following year but have made a balance transfer on one card (cant get new ones due to too much credit) for 0% 6 months and plenty of room for manouverment on others but dont seem to be getting any good offers at present
Managed a NSD yesterday and a small Mr T shop this evening of £12.56 for reduced bread at 16p and puff pastry 32p - could be interesting mealtimes ahead. Couple of cherry lucozade while still on offer - well i am still a bit poorly
milk and butter - couldnt carry anymore as walked down.
Also returned parcel to very from sale shopping prior to xmas so sent most of it back
only kept a couple of cheap jumpers and a pair of leggings for total £50- but on BNPL so will have it paid off way before due as i pay weekly on stuff even though no interest as i cant trust myself to put it on oneside til its due.
Well off to catch up some more as this thread moves on fast..
Keep up the good work everyone

Candy, well done on your first run! Did you enjoy it?
NSD number 6 for me today, I too went for a run this morning- in the pouring rain but never mind, its done for today. Ive added my quidco pay to my extra income, £6 odd, must have been as a result of the pre christmas spending :-( My ebay stuff is failing miserably, does anyone know of the best way to sell books? Tried green metropolis and ebay now with very limited success.
Poodlegal, I hated it... joking! It was hard, I did about a mile and had to keep stopping, parts of my body hurt that I didn't even know existed. I haven't exercised in atleast 6 years (I am one of those people everyone hates because I eat rubbish, don't exercise but stay skinny) and doing that run today proved just how unfit I am. I really want to try and get fit, I'm hoping it will give me more energy and make me more 'get up and go'.
Do you run often? Do you feel better for it?

Becky - so sorry to hear your news, try to think positive for now, there is a job - focus on that and not too much on the negative (I absolutely understand that this is easier said than done).
I had loads of DVDs that I was going to send to Music Magpie, but I thought I'd try eBay first - I made £23.40
which is loads more than MM offered. I've sold the rest to Music Magpie for £13.16, just need to send them off. I took a load of clothes to Cash for Clothes and got £4.90. Then I had to ring that bank as they'd charged me too much for a fee - almost 60 mins later I was still on the phone to an 0844 number  but they reinbursed the call charges (£10), gave me £2 back for the incorrect charge (every penny counts, right?) and gave me £10 for the inconvenience :j I'll put the £10 and £2 towards my £25 target but not the call charges as I'll have to pay them off my bill next month (that right!? If not, I'm soo close to the £25 target!!). All of these little earners will be paid straight off the credit card.
Poodlegal - are you Poodle Gal or Pood Legal!? Personally, I much prefer the second option!! :rotfl:

Really sorry to hear that Becky, but fingers crossed he keeps his job. I've just made a lovely roast for dinner with enough for OH to have for lunch tomorrow. I've also made some small tomato & olive puff pastry tarts that will make lovely little snacks throughout the week. We've just had one each as I made 9 and they are scrummy mmmm and took about 5 minutes!
Sholly, I just use a hand blender for our smoothies. Today we had fresh banana, a splash of apple juice and an assortment of frozen fruit (todays was cranberry, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry all frozen and bought on the YS cheap

Another NSD here so up to number 4. I'm really enjoying the simplicity of not spending money - quite surprised by that!Trying to keep in budget.
