    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello all!

You all seem to be doing so well at this challenge.

Only at 3NSDs but think today will be one too, no need to head for the shops today.

Friday ended up not being the NSd I'd planned - had to buy throat lozenges and tissues and treated the cats to some half price foodfrom Mr T's.

Haven't spent this weekend apart from getting the restaurant vouchers for ma & pa's birthdays (already budgetted for:)). SIL came for tea unexpectedly on Sat so rustled up HM quiche and jacket spuds as all my batch-cooked food is frozen in portions for 2 people. And Hubby thought we'd have to have a chippy tea ;)

Not really done much/anything on the making/finding money this weekend though I have done some overtime (£60 before tax etc. so not a huge amount but not much effort either)

Enough meals in the freezer to last this week and hopefully we'll have enough bits for sandwiches for the week.
  • Hello everybody!

Checking in after a few days. Today is NSD no.5, in a row which is pretty good I reckon. Will be a spendy day tomorrow, as I have one of my planned social things (catching up with a friend) so will also be doing some food shopping, paying my ceramics class fees etc.

Last Friday I photographed a load of items to eB4y, although nothing listed yet. Do we think it is better to wait for a fee-free weekend, or just get on with it? I can never decide myself. The other MSE thing I did was refill the liquid handwash with bubble bath that has been sitting around for a while. I checked it and I couldn't tell the difference in texture/cleaning power at all. It's all soap I guess! And one thing not bought, plus one thing used up is a double win in my book! :money:

NSK - I wonder if you'd mind elaborating on this? When you say you've had no sugar, do you mean you haven't touched a sugar bowl, or do you mean no sugar, biscuits, cakes, sweets, chocolate etc, or do you mean no sugar at all, eg: fruit, juice etc?

NicNocs, I did a diet a few years ago where you cut out all sugar (including most fruits, you could have stevia/agarve sweeteners and low sugar fruits like apples), and a number of other refined ingredients (wheat in all forms, fermented products inc. soy, beer and wine and most cheeses).

It was tough, which is probably why I feel off the wagon after about 10 days :rotfl:but I can honestly say for those 10 days I felt incredible. So much energy, to the point of only neeeding about 5-6hrs sleep, and the flatest stomach I've had since I left school!

It needs a bit of organisation/meal planning (but we're doing that already right?) and some imagination as to where to get flavour from (I started doing a lot of curries with all fresh ingredients for example) but it's possible. In fact I might give it a go again. In February maybe, when I've cleared the last of the Christmas chocolate from the house!

If you're interested try g00gling "anti-candida diet" or "clean eating" which is a big movement in the US, which sounds like a similar if less hardcore thing.

  • Hello!

£3.75 on vouchers achieved so far so I'm now at £8.75! A way to go until thte £25 target!

NSD so far... must try to keep to this!
  • Hi everyone and well done on the NSDs everyone's adding them up pretty quickly!

I am currently in NSD number 5 but hoping the rest of this week should all be NSDs too. The only spend day I have had was Sunday where I did my shop, spent just over £12 so I'm happy with that. I go away next Monday so my shop then shouldn't be much at all as I only need to buy for lunches while we are away. A weeks holiday and I'm planning to spend nothing... Lets see how that goes!

So I checked my accounts over the weekend and found Quidco had paid £2.32 into my account, not much I know but I wasn't even aware I was due this. So that's been added to my extra income.

I'm not so much dieting or eating healthy, but the OH took me on my first run today! So I am definitely trying to get fit, also I need to put weight on of the muscle kind so hopefully this will help :)

Candy, well done on your first run! Did you enjoy it?
NSD number 6 for me today, I too went for a run this morning- in the pouring rain but never mind, its done for today. Ive added my quidco pay to my extra income, £6 odd, must have been as a result of the pre christmas spending :-( My ebay stuff is failing miserably, does anyone know of the best way to sell books? Tried green metropolis and ebay now with very limited success.

Afternoon all - its a real shock to be back at work but at least our first day was only until lunchtime (early start though!)

So far today I have sent off a form to redeem my premium bonds - had them 3 years and won nought! - and downloaded the form to recoup my union fees. I ahve also printed out my 25p Tesco voucher and, wonders of wonders, made my first sale of 2013 on ebay!! I have listed most things to start at 99p but had a nice handbag in tip top condition - it sold today for £60 which will make a nice nick in the overdraft (debt number 1).

This afternoon I am planning to :-
    1) gain as many adpoints as possible,
    2) sort out my wardrobe. I have been with sw since last June and have lost 4 stone - this then causes the problem of needing new clothes but I am that typical yo yo dieter so need to see what range of sizes I have to ensure that purchases are kept to a minimum.
    3) put my debts into the snowball calculator to sort out a plan for repayments.

    Love to you all xx

PS - just added 120 points - 60p to my penny gathering - go me!

  • Ufff What a day!
Hello everyone, I hope you are having a fantastic day! :-)

On Friday I told my husband that we had £80 for food shopping and he laughed ha ha! He thought I was joking. After dropping my children on their acting lessons I went to Tesco right to the reduced corner only to find a very long queue ufff I have to admit, I felt a bit embarrased but I soon talked myself out of it because everyone in the queue were there hunting for a bargain ha ha! I spent only £75 and the remining £5 is for milk or anything else we are short of during this week... On my return to my house, I was craving for assorted cheese, bicuits and red wine Mmm but I am having zero wine this month so did not have the biscuits. I realised that I have to change my mind set if I want to save money.

On Saturday morning, I brought down the Christmas tree decoration, and my new bathroom suit arrived this was paid with the CC1 on my isgnature at half price but now I have to pay for it!

On Sunday morning I sorted out all my receipts ready to complete my online tax return and in the afternoon I batch cooked with my duaghter! It was the first time my daughter and I cooked together oops
This weekend it was the very first time we have not gone out dining and I feel great!
Today still sorting out all my self employment finances to complete my online tax in due course and before the 31st of course and preparing French lesson for my duaghter and I.

Sending you all positive regards and

Okay - just popping back to update.

The tax form has been completed, the wardrobe sorted and some clothes discovered, a survey completed with nectar canvass and my debt snowball suggests that the debts will be repaid by December 2016 - what a christmas present that would be!

Off to cook tea and rest!

    NSD 7 :j

I have to go shopping tomorrow but I have a meal plan for 3 weeks and a list so it will be fine. I am enjoying sticking to a meal plan as I don't have to think when I get home from work just choose from my weeks list of 7 dinners that I have all the ingredients for. Why did I never think of this before ??? hope you all had a great day I have a feeling that all the shops will begin to notice their sales are down because we are awesome :rotfl: love p0lly x
