Hi All,
I am reading the many posts in this thread and it feels me with horror.
My contract ends with T-Mobile on 13th February 2014. I have been a customer with this company for exactly 16 years next month. Never deferred a single payment in the whole time. after a few phone calls recently, T-Mobile will allow me to stay on my current Full Monty package, but wants to increase my line rental by an extra £60 for the year.
I am going to give my 30 days notice on 13th January, as Virgin Media have a tasty package for me which is the same as my current package, and £12.00 per year cheaper, PLUS on a rolling 30 day contract.
I am trying to work out when I should ask for my PAC code, on 13th January??? 13th February?? from readings of posts above, money savers have done both, and then been charge early termination fees. MMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I got a feeling this is going to involve several telephone callsTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
Hi Trinidadone. Your right in that they are likely to try and screw you over whatever you do. You definitely do want to give them 30 days notice by telephone on 13 January. Tell them you wish to end your contract when it expires on 13 February, not a day before or after and that you do not expect any early termination fees. Get them to acknowledge this verbally. They will then have a record of the conversation that you can use in any further battles you might have.
Best to ask the adviser what they suggest you do in order to keep your number but avoid early termination charges, that way you have a record that you can use to back you up in the ensuing mess.
If they offer you a PAC code on 13 January they clearly don't have a clue what there doing as it would expire before your contract end date (I think they last for 28 days) and you would instantly be charged a fee just for accepting the PAC code before your contract end date, regardless of whether you even use it.0 -

Similar story with me - My contract ended on 19 December 2013, gave at least 39 days notice by calling on 17 November 2013. Requested a PAC code. Was told by CS that if PAC code is not used within 30 days, the contract will roll over. Waited until 18 December 2013 to use PAC code. Checked T Mobile Account online on 19 December, and was surprised to see an MNP early termination penalty of £27.52. My billing date is 4 December, so in effect have paid in advance until 3 January 2014. Called CS, spoke to a disinterested person in India, who stated that as I had called on 18 December for PAC code and used it on the same date, the termination fee would apply. I stated that this is incorrect as I received a letter dated 17 November 2013 confirming PAC code. Was then cut-off. called again, and second person stated that a credit will be applied. They could not explain why I had been charged the cancellation fee. I have now received a revised bill showing that I am due a credit for period 19 December until 3 January 2013 for line rental as well as the early cancellation fee. I have been repaid the £27.52 but not the additional credit for line rental. Do I need to chase this up or will it be automatically paid into my bank account?0

See MSE article: Reclaim Phone Credit: Have you switched providers?...
Apparently it's pretty much up to date.0 -
PAC lasts for 30 days, not 28, hence there is no any reason for charging, although they most likely will try pulling a fast one as usual.
Mmm, all I know is when I gave them notice on 13 August to end the contract on 13 September, they said fine and sent me a PAC code which had to be used by 11 September, which was useless at it was two days before the end of contract.trinidadone wrote: »thanks for the response corum. so, what do I do, get the Pack code on 13th jan, or 15th Jan?????
The important thing is to give at least 30 days notice in advance, so whatever happens you should do that by 13 January and make it clear to the adviser that you want your contract to end exactly on 13 February, that you will need to retain your number and that you will not be expecting any ETC's because of this. Ask the adviser what they think regarding when to request your PAC code because if things go south you will be able to refer back to that conversation.
I suspect if you are given a PAC code before 13 February you will get an ETC. Of course by requesting the PAC code on 13 February they will also most likely scam you by saying that issuing a PAC code resets the notice period.
Good luck.0 -

"Normally" means everywhere except T-mobile (and at T-mobile if you have guts).0 -
