    You have been very lucky.
My transfer was also from a contract with T-mobile to a PAYG sim with three. T-mobile were a complete nightmare all the way through. Misinformation, multiple bogus charges, endless phone calls on my part, promises to cancel charges that never happened (without a concerted effort on my part). The list goes on.

    No, you missed the point.

I haven't transferred to a Three PAYG SIM. But even if I had, that would be irrelevant.

    The procedure was this:

    T-Mobile Pay Monthly -> T-Mobile PAYG -> Three.

It's the T-Mobile PAYG step that avoids all the hassle. You have to get out of your 30-day notice period and on to PAYG before requesting or using a PAC from T-Mobile.

Yes, this is a good way of doing this. £10 compulsory topup is the only small problem, especially for high users

Ah I get you now. Yes that does seem like a good way of doing it. Hopefully it'll prevent some :wall: in future, until T-mobile get their act together on the customer service front.

unfortunantly this system would not work for me. I am a hevey user of my mobile, so going onto a PAYG phone could simply not work, but seems good for light users.

Really, T-mobilke should simply get there act together
Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!

You don't have to stay on PAYG for the whole month, or anything like that. As soon as your account is moved to PAYG then your contract and 30-day notice periods have all expired.

The day your PAYG account starts you can request your PAC and have your number ported within a day or two to your new supplier.

You will of course waste the mandatory £10 PAYG top up, but if this is less than whatever you would be charged for "early termination" then it could worth it.

If you're on Android, then you can bill Google Play purchases to your T-Mobile account and quickly use up your remaining balance by purchasing a couple of apps.

Indeed. Given that you have to give 30-days notice, and the PAC is only valid for 30-days I don't really see how you are supposed to do this without getting charged.

You must use your PAC while the account is still valid otherwise you'll lose your number.

What do you mean? This is the same at all networks, but T-mobile is the only one robbing their leaving customers.

Well if you give your required 30 days notice and request a PAC at the same time, and the PAC expires in 30 days, then the first day you are allowed to port will be the day after your PAC expires. Which is also the day your account has been closed and you'll have lost your number anyway.

You can't wait the required 30 days before porting because you PAC will have expired. And if you port before your 30 days are up then you get charged.

I'm surprised this isn't the same for all carriers.

I don't really see that they are "robbing" anyone. If you give 30 days notice, and then port after 25 days (5 days before your PAC expires) then you've left early.

The only way to port without charge is to get out of the 30 day notice requirement, by switching to PAYG first.

No, you can use it at any time, but will be charged for the full 30 days regardless. Normally you get charged just for a few days that you don't use.

Yes, for 1-3 days. With correct timing you can have your number ported on the 30th day, but this is risky.

Read the thread and the T&C.
If you leave 5 days early (after gaving the notice 25 days ago), you have to pay only for the remaining 5 days (if they were not paid in advance). T-mobile charge much more.

    Well, that's up to them.

I still don't see that they are "robbing" anyone. If you leave before your 30 day notice is complete then you pay an early termination charge because you left early. Simple.

I agree it's annoying because there is basically no way to avoid the charge without losing your number - if you wait until your 30 days have completely expired then your account will be closed and by that point your number can't be ported any more.

So just switch your account to PAYG first. Easy.

You have to play the game!
