I still don't see that they are "robbing" anyone. If you leave before your 30 day notice is complete then you pay an early termination charge because you left early. Simple.
...You have to play the game!
No, it's not that simple, but I won't waste my time on making you change your mind. Feel free to remain deluded and play the games. Or read the T&C at last.

So far they have refunded the incorrect fee to all people who challenged them.
I agreed above that for some people 'playing the game' and paying extra £10 can be easier than challenging.

I wish it was clearl cut, but there are two issues, leaving which you correctly say is 30 days, and then the use of the pac code within the 30 days. use the pac code within the 30 days = ETF

use the pac code, after the 30 days, Pac code expired, and pay monthly line rental

You don't have to stay on PAYG for the whole month, or anything like that. As soon as your account is moved to PAYG then your contract and 30-day notice periods have all expired.

The day your PAYG account starts you can request your PAC and have your number ported within a day or two to your new supplier.

You will of course waste the mandatory £10 PAYG top up, but if this is less than whatever you would be charged for "early termination" then it could worth it.

If you're on Android, then you can bill Google Play purchases to your T-Mobile account and quickly use up your remaining balance by purchasing a couple of apps.

Indeed. Given that you have to give 30-days notice, and the PAC is only valid for 30-days I don't really see how you are supposed to do this without getting charged.

You must use your PAC while the account is still valid otherwise you'll lose your number.

I am not keen on giving this company an extra ten quid, I just counting down until 13th fEB

Your suggestion of going payg is a good one, albeit one that costs the end user an extra tenner that they might otherwise have used for something else.

That aside, t-mobile staff are either very poorly trained or trained to mislead their customers. If its the latter, then many would consider that robbing. I mean, if someone has fully paid up for their whole contract including the last month, should they really be charged an etc even if they do decide to leave a few days early? The bottom line for me is that their systems and processes appear designed to entrap people into paying fees that are unfair and unjustified and that they make a lot of money from peoples apathy. They might not be physically hitting you over the head with a blackjack as they pick your pockets, but the effect is the same.

I am now only days away from finally leaving t-mobile. I was advised by T-Mobile to use my pack code before 12th February (my contract expires with T-mobile on 13th February). I had a little difficulty at first as my new provider takes a few days to port the pac code. I did speak to T-Mobile, and was advised, If I dont use the pac code before it expires, i would need to requeat another code, which will cost me another months line rental. As i would out of contract, this could cost double what I pay now.

Eventually, with some good customer service from my new provider, my pac code will now be transferred on tuesday.

Now I have paid my line rental up and til 17th Feb, my contract expires on 13th feb, so one would assume this company owes me money. Noooooooooooooooooooooooop, i will now be hit with a days Early Termination Fee, so another battle against T-mobile will begin when i receive my final bill.

I really cant wait to no longer be a customer of this phone company.

I spoke to my new telephone provider, whom werre really shocked to learn a new pac code generates another months line rental for T-Mobile.

My line rental is paid up to 17th February, my number will be ported to my new telephone company on 12th February, and my contract ends on the 13th February. One would assume this company now owes me month, but I am pretty sure the company will now try and get a days early termination fee from me. I really dislike the bad practices this communication company carried out, and i really can not wait to leave them. T-mobile is one of the greedest phone comunication companies i have ever been involved with. I would never go back, even if the company offered me

My T Mobile contract ends this month. Faced with expensive retention offers and early termination fees I have given 30 days notice and I am off.
Customer service is at best polite but the automated telephone system a maze with too many delays before a human speaks.
This out fit are rapidly pushing their customers away.
  • I called to cancel my contract on 23 January and did not want to use a PAC. My plan was due to end on 26 March and therefore I expected to be charged until that point. However, I have just received my normal bill for the month starting 27 January, plus an early termination fee of £29.45. At no point was I told that cancelling would incur a cost of £29.45. Does this mean that I will get another bill on 27 February to take me to the plan end date? If so, not only wiil I have paid for service that tmobile are not having to provide, they also have the audactity to charge £29.45 on top.
  • I am no longer using T-Mobile, and I am so pleased. I have been trying to get the company to unlock my smartphone. Customer service are "nice" they have confirmed my handset will be unlocked, but another part of T-Mobile is not playing ball.

yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i got my final bill from T-Mobile. I am now with a new company, and I am so pleased. As mentioned previousely, I have been a customer with this company for 16 years now. There offers at the end of my contract was rubbish. I am now paying £48.00 less per year, with a simalar tarriff. I am still waiting for the company to unlock my handset, and I found the contract ending very stressful
