Packed lunch savings now up to £20. Really hope I can keep this up.

Had a disaster with fruit. Bought some bags from L%dl and a local small supermarket and both contained rotten (black!) fruit in them. So had to bin the lot. So I'm going back to buying fruit individually and from the green grocers.

I even bought from Pepsis so hubby would feel hes not missing out. About £1.50 for 6. At his work they cost 90p odd for one!

  • Hi all, sorry I haven't been on for a while, but have just gone back to college today. You'll be pleased to hear I resisted all bought food, nothing from the cafe and nothing to munch on the bus home!

I took a banana and a cupcake with me and these kept me going until I got home for lunch. I was very tempted, found it really hard but stuck to my guns :rotfl: :A

I think I've saved myself at least a fiver going on my pre-Christmas spending habit :D / :(

next day in is Wednesday... hope I can maintain the good work!

I haven't caught up with everyone but will be back tomorrow.
  • Kittie, I did have a good weight watchers one, I'll try and find it for you... Not that I'm insinuating you need to lose weight, I just haven't come across another!

Well done everyone. I have a week off work this week so if i go quiet I'm not buying lunch just have a few well deserved days off :D.

I take quite simple lunches as I always have different main meals for when i get home. My favourite lunches to take are soup with bread rolls and either baps or wraps with my choice of filling.

I may make some Pasta for a few days for when I return next week.

Hello Shortie :j I wondered where you'd gone! You most definitely won't be treading on my toes by helping out, I thank you for asking. All the lovely peeps on here have been saying what their favourite three lunches are so I was thinking of making lists under different headings - savoury/ meat sandwiches, sweet sandwiches, other types of lunch eg salad, soups. I can't really concentrate on it atm because I am really busy but hopefully this weekend I can devote some time to it. Once the lists have been compiled they should be easy to maintain (in theory anyway) so if you would like to make a start then please feel free :D I can copy and paste into the first post then.

Coolio, will compile them into Notepad this week and send them over before the weekend, then I can pm them to you to copy and paste into one of the first posts :D

I am really proud of myself today! I had practically a no spend day! I did have to buy some cranberry juice because I have a problem with my kidneys and they were flippijg hurting, but other than that I took my lunch and bought nothing more.

I did remember my Rumbler yoghurt:-)

Also had asparagus soup and packet of crisps. All were bargains so lunch cost about 62p.

Morning everyone! Just finished my train cuppa and today's breakfast is a banana and a couple of cookies, and lunch is 2 crusty tiger rolls with cheese and chilli jam. Mmmm

Tonight's dinner is pasta bake so hopefully there will be some spare to have for lunch tomorrow and will break the ' sarnie run' up a bit!

  • Hi guys.
Thanks for letting me join this thread. Lunch is where I spend way too much of my wages and working it a supermarket makes it so convenient to just go and grab a £3 meal deal everyday aswell as more drinks and treats on top of that.

Today is the second day that I have taken my own lunch. Just scoffed down a ham and cucumber sandwich and a cup a soup, it's lunch time to me as I've been here since 6am. That's saved me at least a fiver already this week.

Knowing I've got somewhere to report how I'm doing will give me the motivation to carry on rather than giving up after a couple of days.

    And I'm off!
5 cans of soup (RRP 59p, 400g size) in Morrison's for £2, plus I had to get the only microwave-safe £1 soup bowl I could find in Poundland! (Got a nice Warburtons mixed seed loaf there, too). Fortunately there was a can opener in the staff kitchen!
so.. first week, with the one-off soup bowl: £4 lunches!
Don't worry - I'm not going to do an update every day, but... Vegetable soup today, fleshed out a little with some left over pasta I had, which used to be my lunch option - but remembering to cook it and optionally make up a pasta sauce at home was a issue; this "lunch at work, buy on Monday" regime frees up that time at home also.

P.S. Had mushroom yesterday - why is mushroom soup "wobbly?"
