Ha ha ,this has made me laugh. When I suggested googling the Dyson, I didn't want to admit I had dirty filters too! Thought I was the only person in the world who didn't know I had to clean my Hoover filters. Looks like I'm not the only one
Think we should set up a Dyson idiot club! I did actually know about cleaning filters, shame what I thought were the filters and what are the filters are 2 different things:oA smile costs little but creates much0 -
That's great news on bursary and getting money back.
It all helps and you've had a tough run of luck so it's about time some good stuff came your way.

Coming out of lurkdom to say that I made the mistake of registering my dyson online and now I get reminders to tell me when the filters need cleaning and unlike my normal state of affairs I actually do it. It still works great! Don't you just hate things that remind you of things that you really don't want to do!0

Been a bit lax in updating the mortgage repayment this month. I usually get so excited about it. Anyway another £924 paid off that this month and with the £70 paid off the CTC overpayment that brings my total debt including my mortgage to under £220k :j
It's been an odd week this week. I've had the week off work as the boys are on holiday. Monday we went to Legoland, my neighbours son works their so he got us free entry. Took picnics as the cost of anything there is ridiculous. It was so hot though that we did have to resort to an ice cream! Well sort of ice pop thing which was the cheapest at £1.80 each
Tuesday we spent some time down the beach in the morning. Just at the end of the road so a free day. My dad was taken into hospital on Monday. He should have gone in at the weekend but had refused to go. He will be there for the week for sure as they don't know what's wrong with him yet. Unfortunately, as per usual it's left to me to run my mum up there. So we went to visit him Tuesday afternoon and again yesterday afternoon after another morning on the beach. Last night I too the boys to see Barnum at our local theatre. Got bargain preview tickets at £10 instead of £35 and it was a lovey evening and the boys loved it so that was our treat for the week. Back to the beach today I think.MBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

Loving the decent weather. Makes not spending money in the school hols so much easier.:D Took the boys over to see my lovely, lovely neighbours this morning as they are moving away on Monday
I will miss them so much. Bless them, he is just coming up to 86 and his wife 82 but they are just they nicest people ever. A few tears saying goodbye to them.
This afternoon the boys and I wandered down the beach again. It was lovely again and boys were chatting to a couple of ladies there. I was chatting to them and they said how lovely it was that my boys were confident enough to speak to them. One of the ladies said she sometimes finds that as her and her husband don't have children some people can be wary if she speaks to their children. Such a shame I think. My two know that they shouldn't take things from strangers or go anywhere with them but it is polite to speak to people when I'm around. Hence they are both extremely sociable and are comfortable holding conversations with adults. I almost wonder if we are bringing up a generation of children who will no longer be able to socialise and speak to people
I also phoned the CSA to see where they are with my child support as it stopped back in the middle of June! They had phoned me several weeks ago to say my ex was no longer claiming benefit and I told them where he was working. Apparently they had written to him but he hasn't responded (there's a surprise!) so haven't done anything else! They asked me if I was sure he was working there:mad: Anyway, I had a bit of a rant at them about how I thought they were supposed to be looking out for children and ensuring that absent parents supported their children but they seem to be helping my ex more than they are helping my children! Seems to have kick started them now though as they have phoned back to say they have now been in touch with his employer and sent the paperwork to them so fingers crossed I might get some money this year. I have always kept a note of what he basically owes me considering there was a court order which said he should pay me £50 per week! Well so far he owes £6,050 child maintenance less the £88.57 (whoop de doo!) paid via CSA. Add to that the £37.40 I paid in train fares for him just prior to his 7 week holiday last year so he could see the boys (I didn't know at the time that he was jetting of to Turkey:eek:) Oh and then the £1,214.42 it cost me to sell his flat last year. I'm £7,213.25 short :mad: Now that would come in handy. No chance of ever seeing it though
Decluttered and cleaned the kitchen drawers tonight. Nothing of any worth to sell but a few bits fit for the bin! Shipped a couple of eBay items today too. Also sent a message to someone who hasn't paid! I'll give them another day or two and I suppose I'll have to raise a no payment case thingy again
Right I really should get some sleep. I know I'm on holiday this week but I have the chance for some extra work tomorrow night. It will be once the boys are in bed so shouldn't really turn it downMBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

OK so it's the end of the month again Nd bill paying time! I'm feeling gutted this month as I have gone backwards thanks to buildings and contents insurance and a couple of birthdays.
It's only gone backwards a little bit though so I suppose I shouldn't beat myself up too much! Once the mortgage payment has gone it will have moved in the right direction again anyway.
I need to get some ID certified and also copy of first husbands death certificate has arrived so I can send those off and get the endowment money paid out. That will definitely go straight off the cards so will be one paid and a bit off the next one to tackle. I'll phone them and actually close the account, unless of course they fancy offering me a 0% transfer to keep me, then I'll close one of the others
I really really need to get back on top of ebaying. Been a bit useless of late and I still have a ton of stuff I could get rid of! Also must check with the local centre. They usually have a day in summer when they have a kids sale and I've done it the last two years and done really well. The boys will help me sort out toys they no longer need/use! Might do that on the way out.
Not quite sure where the time is going today. Need to get a wriggle on or I'll get nothing done!MBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

You sound really busy as usual Julie. Well done on the bursary. That sounds like some sizeable help. How irritating re your ex though. And that's the polite way of describing him!
I hope the rest of the school hols goes well. You're doing really well and despite the insurance blip it's all heading in the right direction. Thanks Verbatim. Seems such a long slog but then I guess I didn't run up all that debt in a couple of days either.
I have to admit I haven't tackled the Hoover yet. Still limping along! It's on the list for the weekend though, along with mowing the lawn and painting some fences, weather permitting!
I've been a busy bee tonight writing letters! Had received the death certificate of my late ex husband (not the one that's currently being a pain!) also went to the solicitor today to get birth certificate and driving license certified so have done a covering letter and completed the forms to get my endowment mis-selling compensation. I've also written a letter to the Equitable Life Payment Scheme as I paid into a pension with them via an ex employer. They had told me that Equitable Life Scheme would look for me to pay me but I read on here somewhere that that isn't the case and you need to contact them and there's a deadline of April next year so letter requesting compensation owed ready to post tomorrow.
Still haven't done any ebayingand I meant to drop into the local centre to see when their sale is and I didn't get round to that either

Well another week has passed by. Last night was my DS1s last but one rehearsal for his first stage performance! Did I mention he is going to be in Joseph!
The show starts next week in Southsea, he's so excited and I'm so so proud of him. H from Steps is Joseph so his teacher is excited too as apparently she was a bit of a groupie! He was also super excited last night as he says the smallest boy and the smallest girl get to dress in pjs and dressing gown and walk on holding the hand of the narrator at the start while she sings the bit about dreams coming true. He is the youngest boy and he is also tiny compared to all his school friends so he is really hoping it will be him. He said when she sings about the "boy whose dream came true and it could be you" she turns to the boy and sings it! Good grief! I'll be a blubbering wreck! I already feel emotional when I hear it as when I took him to his first stage show at the age of three he came out, turned to me and said "do you think I will ever be on a stage like that?" I'm one seriously proud mum
On a more serious note, I've paid an extra £20 off my lowest card today too. Waited for all the eBay billing to go through and took some money out of PayPal and paid it straight off. I'm just £7 over a total debt of, including my mortgage, £220k! This month it will go sub £220kI know that's a huge amount still but, hey, every milestone is worth celebrating! Can't wait for the cheque to come through on the endowment refund that will be a big bit off again!
