    Ah that's great news :)
I have to say, these hot summer days definitely make it easier not to spend money. I've been taking my 7-week-old baby out for walks around the local park more or less every day. Hope the weather continues for you next week!! xxx

I've had some great news today. Went in to school to see the bursar. She'd emailed to say she had a result for me. They've given me a bursary or 25% discount for both boys for the next two years :D:p. I still feel a bit awkward about it. One of my faults is I'm not great at asking for and accepting help :o Anyway she's assured me that I deserve it and that my prompt fee paying to date had helped others so now it's my turn to get

Horse for courses, I suppose - it's all about the work/life balance that suits each of us. I had noted that the parents and ex were a source of frustration and therefore stress. Sometimes stress free is the option I'd go for.

  • I have just read through all of this, should be doing housework (!). Anyway, glad you got float sorted out, was going to suggest asking employer for company credit card which would have solved all of the issues. We had fuel cards for our drivers, which were promptly scrapped and replaced with cc when I pointed out that we were being charged an additional 8p a litre by the fuel company:eek:

With regard the hoover, I had the same problem, about same age, poor suction etc. By fluke, read on another forum yesterday about someone else who had the same problem and had bee asked if the filter had been cleaned. What filter I thought? If you go on youtube, you will see what to do, as what I though was the filter is not. Rushed to take it out and clean and my god, it was disgusting! Only needs to be washed out with cold water and apparently it will be like new again. Filter currently drying, for obvious reasons needs to be bone dry when It goes back in, so will know for sure tomorrow. 5 minutes cleaning a damn sight cheaper than new hoover.

You have achieved so much so far:j, you should be proud of yourself. The boys are going to try and test you, but as long as you are there as a constant and they know they are loved by you, you will all come through it.

Thank you Gettingtherequickly. I'm definitely going to look at YouTube at some point over the next week one evening when the boys are asleep. We have all been nagging for fuel cards or company credit cards for ages but they don't seem to want to go down that root. Mind you the cyclical me says why would they when they can be quids in with each of their reps 'carrying them' for a couple of hundred pounds or so each month? :o

triple choc chip, I can explain the 3am. I'd been to the school summer ball which as a year 2 parent I'd had to help organise. As it was a Bollywood theme and I was tasked with entertainment one of my ex work colleagues had offered to bring his boa constrictor down to do meet and greet photos for free as long as someone could put him up for the night. As I'd arranged for the boys to be at their dads I offered to put him up and when we got back we had a cup of tea and a great catch up but then I was so pleased with getting the bursary and wasn't feeling that tired that I thought I'd nip on here and share my news. Am I forgiven? :o

I've had another bit of good news today too! (Don't want to jinx what seems to be a few positives at the moment) Anyway a little while ago I'd had a call from a company about claiming compensation on mis-sold endowments. I had one with my very first mortgage back in 1999  Anyway, I said I would think about it as I figured it would be statute barred by now anyway. They assured me they might be able to get some money anyway. Now I know I could have done it myself and not paid any fees if I'd won but to be honest I really didn't think I'd have the time and I figured if I got £600 compensation out of £1000 it was still £600 I wouldn't have had. So I said for them to give it a go, after checking there was absolutely no way I would end up out of pocket at any point. Well I've had a letter today from the endowment policy company direct to say they are offering just over £2,000 compensation. I worked out the fees and I'm going to clear £1,400 :j I did have another one which they are chasing too so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I also found 10p in the bottom of my bag. Hoping that's not the last of my run of luck though :D:p

Ooooeeer! "Come up and see my snake" - that would certainly keep me up all night :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Fantastic news about the refund, I recently received just under £2k PPI from the company formerly known as Egg which that has brought my DFD forward by 4 months. It was completely out of the blue as I was unaware I had ever paid any. Windfalls like that are great.

Just to say that I also cleaned my dyson filters for the 1st time in 6 years recently and it makes so much difference. I did it on the advice of my sister - perhaps if we all do a 'psst - pass it on'; the nations dysons will once again be functioning at full capacity!

  • Fab news on refund, that's one card paid off in full. The hoover, oh my giddy aunt, it is like a new one again, like a workout trying to push the darn thing along!

Ha ha ,this has made me laugh. When I suggested googling the Dyson, I didn't want to admit I had dirty filters too! Thought I was the only person in the world who didn't know I had to clean my Hoover filters. Looks like I'm not the only one
