Thanks all for the knitting advice. I have seen local groups advertising but the groups all seem to run on weekdays during the afternoons when I'm at work. I know there are youtube vids but I'd have no idea what needles/hooks/wool to buy so though a mag might just be a quick and easy way to get started.

I know my best friend would teach me if I asked BUT I want to knit/crochet her something to totally surprise her.
  • woke up totally refreshed and very positive so I will try this again. X btc

yes BTC, I absolutely think that you can train your mind, I used to do similar when stressed out through work

Scotrae, a step at a time. Wd you try so hard

My spinning wheel came today, birthday present and I have already assembled it and been invited to a group, so am very happy.:)

Please keep an eye on shtf thread as very bad weather is suddenly coming, I have put in a link to the weather action thread in the public domain. I am a subscriber and manage to drop hints but not too much as the subscriber bits are copyright

    Hi everyone,

    Positives for today:

Met a friend for coffee. Haven't seen her since September. We had children in the same primary school class - they are now in Year 9 (3rd year seniors) - so we don't get to see each other very often. Nice to catch up!

Found a bridesmaid dress in cs for £5 which is PERFECT for DDs amdram production of Cinderella - whoohoo the director is going to LOVE me!

DH has booked the 5 of us to see The Hobb!t on Saturday - he never books ANYTHING so this is a totally unexpected and lovely surprise!

Gave some positive support to my DSis this morning who is going through very hard times financially and work-wise. There is only us two - our parents live abroad - so am her only 'local' support. Pay it forward.

Hoping you are all having a good day too. Hugs to those that need them. Stay safe and warm folks.

The needle's are quit short that you get free with the mag[got it this morning],but the dvd is ok for teaching you the basic's and it also goes through it in the mag step by step as well, if that's any help to you missus, I'v got it 'cause one of my personal challange's for this year is to learn how to follow a crouchet[sp?] patteren.

Well did a good dollop of positivity to Dd today as she is still down about being redundant ,and while I was giving her a pep talk the agency rang to say they had put her forward for another job in Gravesend which is a bit further but the hours are easier,so we just have to wait and see what will happen. So we decided to detox her kitchen cupboardfs and managed to get two plus a @dump everything in it drawer' which pleased her no end and out of that we had two bags of rubbish to get rid of so I dropped it at the tip on my way home.
Way to go me :):):) its very addictive this positive lark :):):)

Well apparently the dresses need to be a certain colour for the production and not the colour I have bought :( To put a positive spin on this, I will be re-charity shopping the dress. So they got a fiver from me and hopefully another fiver from somebody else :D

    Coxy would it take dye?
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Thanks Kittie for the weather warning just had a quick read.
Where do you start with spinning (always fancied doing it). I noticed you said you started with a drop spindle from eBay. Could you point me in the right direction please. X btc

BTC, I got my spindle from

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/drop-spindle-whorl-top-or-bottom-whorl-/230910123769?pt=UK_Crafts_OtherCrafts_Spinning_Weaving&hash=item35c350def9

I got the £14 one but he does sell the same with the whorl at the top for £7 + p and p. Its a lovely spindle and turns beautifully

    also

I bought her £15 kit but the ebay spindle is much nicer. Her etsy yarns are fab

I got all my info off the net particularly you tube

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drXid5cT0y8

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gXTWgMeMgI

I am really chuffed as there is a spinning/knitting/weaving guild not far away and they have asked me to go, so at last I can get to meet people with the same interest and they are so keen to help beginners, as I can with knitting.
