Positive Thinking for 2013

Hi maryb,
It's polyester (like net curtains) so I'm not sure. It's pale lemon and DD put it on and it fits perfectly. Such a shame, but their loss. Felt they were a little ungrateful tbh but I'm determined not to get annoyed about it! Positive thinking and all that!

Thank you so much Kittie. I think I have found a new hobby, as I said earlier I have always fancied it but didn't know where to start. It's my birthday in a couple of weeks so now I know what to ask for. X btc0

I know there are youtube vids but I'd have no idea what needles/hooks/wool to buy so though a mag might just be a quick and easy way to get started.
I know my best friend would teach me if I asked BUT I want to knit/crochet her something to totally surprise her.
look out for a book called stitch 'n b1tch - the knitter's handbook, I taught myself how to knit out of it - takes you from how-to stitches up to quite invoved patterns. You tube is great for stitches too. oh and ebay, nickel and dime and pound shops for needles and wool.

Hi everyone,
Continuing on the positive theme:
I'm doing the O/S weight loss challenge and this week I lost 4lbs :j
Got a refund on a pair of trousers (£15), then found 2 pairs in another shop for half the price (two for £6) :j
Happy happy

Well done Coxy 11 on your weight loss.
I spent most of yesterday decluttering my DDs ktchen with her and we ended up with 5 full black plastic bags of rubbish to go to the tip today. It took her mind off of things (mainly redundancy) and she was very pleased to see her kitchen looking so much tidier and clutter free than it was.
Today I have the plasterer coming to replaster my bathroom before the tiling starts on Monday so I can't really use the kitchen much as my bathroom is downstairs so my computer room is getting a good turn out this morning.
I think I may have caught the spring cleaning bug early:)My freezer list I renovated last night and there is still lots of food in there so no need for any shopping at the moment Every tanner I spend this month is going to be looked at twice
:)
I may have a sort out of some of my crafting stuff as my eldest DD works at a local special-needs school and they are always looking for bits and bobs for the kids art room I am sure I have far too much stuff upstairs so that may be going off to the school as a donation.
I have decided that surplus stuff will be finding a new home in 2013 as if its sat in my home for more than 6 months without moving then its time it went:)
Well done everyone with all you upbeat ideas I love the idea of folk reviving a skill or past time.
Where I live in Kent, in April, we have an old english type Fair at the local country park and its great to see what different skills are being used there I watched someone spinning last year and the lady looked so relaxed and serene while she was doing it I took my DGS and while we watched she was explaining to the boys exactly what she was doing They were facinated as to them it hadn't occured how wool was produced and to see it appearing as though by magic was brilliant and showed the children not only how, but skills that many people have forgotten about.

Still loving this thread!
PMA (positive mental attitude) is the medicine for me when I start to worry about 'things'. It may be about to snow here in the cold north part of the country but yesterday I saw little green shoots from spring bulbs beginning to show through in a friends garden. Spring is on the way!

me too Jackieo, I am just having a break and letting my mind unravel. So far have 4 bags in the hall for the cs, `new` blouses and t shirts, ok I admit I bought them from lands end in a sale 3 years ago but they just aren`t me and I hope they go to a good home now, no point them just hanging in my wardrobe doing nothing
I am onto my study `bookshelves` today although in fact they are holding a lot other than books. Lovely lovely cookery books but what is the point if I never use them, so several set aside in case dds want them and several others in the cs bags. Really nice books like the hummingbird book and rachel allen baking. Another positive is me accepting that I no longer cater for 5 but now for 2 retireesand I am more than capable of laying on a good meal for visitors without ainsley or gordon or rachel
At the back of my mind I am space clearing ready for my growing spinning bits
I bought a card yesterday in the shopping outlet, a lovely well designed card made from good card and paper, hallmark and it cost all of £1.02, so that has decided for me and the rest of my card crafting stuff is going. Much has gone to dds and I kept the best but no need now. It is all fairly tidy and in boxes right on the top of the bookcases so I can leave it for a few weeks
I studied feng shui in the past and my goodness this space clearing works and it is so wonderful getting it done now, when I would normally be hibernatingIt`s a good way of staying positive on a dark and wet day like today, ie actually doing rather than thinking

No snow here yet though it's forecast for tomorrow. Today I will leave the car behind and walk into town for a browse around. It's cold enough for the walk to be warming even with my dodgy knee.
Whilst browsing the internet last night I saw a lovely lovely lovely apartment for sale which I have now lodged firmly in my mind...I have no plans to move, am not in the market for moving but I may just stroll past this place on the way into town. Funny how these things take over! Can't even afford it so it's all just idle thoughts.. Wonder if they'd take £30K less??? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
It's dry & bright here today, so even hubby is in a good mood!
Rather than trying to overpay our mortgage we reduced the term, caused a few probs as a month later work reduced my wages buy £100 pcm, but hey, we managed. I will probably be losing another £100 pcm this year, but we will still manage and we are both in employment.
We are still eating veg, sprouts & carrots from the garden & will grow more this year, hubby is already making plans.
I have decluttered a lot, my kitchen cupboards are a lot emptier than they were & I passed stuff on to my DD's & to a local charity. I've also decluttered my stash but still have enough to last me years & again the extra was passed to same charity.
I have a drop spindle, but need to try again, the youtube demo's I watched showed the spindle being rolled along the thigh, but I seem to have the wrong thighs as my spindle just slides along my thigh, lol.
Yesterday I defrosted my 2 little freezers & made a list of everything in there, there is loads & today's lunch is roast beef, lo from Christmas, also hubby was going to bin half a bag of chocolate brioch as they were going stale, I made bread & butter pudding with it & will drop it over to my DD's tomorrow. All in all a very positive weekend.
Hester
