Just peeled and lightly stewed five large Bramley apples that were reduced that my DD got for me as she knew I would use them up, only cost her 39p and I will make an apple crumble for later on today to take to DDs plus any left over will get boxed and frozen for later on.Excellent bargain at that price and well worth grabbibg as bramleys can be quite expensive at times

Hello all positive thinkser and do-ers. I do love this thread. I often read it and it makes me smile.
My meditating is going well although i kept falling asleep this afternoon. My weekend walks are still going strong. We went on old railways lines yesterday which are now cycle paths and saw a fab old railway station which is now a cottage. The garden looked wonderful with some very plump and healthy leeks. There was the wriggliest waggiest puppy I've ever seen. That made me smile!
There's a chicken roasting at the moment for tea. I got it from Wa1trose along with a bottle of wine. It's a big one and was just under £6. My plans is to strecth it like mad so I have stuffing AND yorkshire pud to go with it along with veg. It was lovely to go to Wa1trose and have a browse around, enjoying looking at some fab things. Not my usual s/market. Got some reduced organic kale so that will go in the soup pot x 2 this week.
I did my work clothes at 30o in my plan to be more caring of the environment.
I'm adding another one which is to live more mindfully. I am being more aware of what I think and say.
Have a lovely potisive week all. I look forward to reading what you are all up to.
  • Happy Monday everyone! :D

So listening to the news all weekend about the weather and seeing all the matrix boards on the motorways warning of snow my heart had been slowly sinking over the last couple of days. Snow is fine until you need to get somewhere, and I hate how this country grinds to a halt at the first sign of any extremes. So imagine what I felt when I peeked out at 6am and saw white everywhere..... I have to go to work and DS has exams this week....BUT I knew it wasn't going to be a problem because IT WASN'T THE HEADLINE ON BBC BREAKFAST NEWS!! As it turned out apart from spending a couple of mins uncovering the car the roads were fine & I was actually in the office earlier than usual.

Busy week ahead for me, including a hospital appointment for a pre-op assessment for my cataract surgery.

Have a great week everyone! :D

  • Hello again! I was just doing some research on Google on the subject of "Beating the January blues" for work (yes really!) and came across this quote from a cognitive therapist - thought I'd share:

"It may be something as simple as enjoying a warming cup of tea on a bitter day, hearing a child laugh on the bus, having a chat with an old friend or seeing a beautiful sunrise on your way to work. The point is that if you actually make an effort to look out for opportunities to feel good, however small, you will realise that your day is packed with glorious moments, if you only let yourself see and experience them to the full."

    hello all.

Well...I bought a mag to learn crochet which had 2 free hooks, found an old ball of wool, attempted to follow the instructions in the mag, screamed, stomped and cursed whilst Hubby giggled at my frustration, found a vid on youtube, tried again and kind of cracked the chain stitch. Decided to call it a day, left on arm of sofa, woke up Sun morn to find one of my cats had unravelled the whole ball of wool kitten-like (she's 8) across the whole lounge - I'd have screamed if she didn't look sooooo cute.

Bought some more wool today (less fluffy and a bit thicker as recommended by lady in wool shop) and will try again tonight. Mag had an idea of making a bracelet from the chain stitch so might just aim for that for the time being :)

My Father nver lost his sense of wonder so that is the kind of thing he would have said...and with the situation many of us are in now it will be the small things that mean so much...

I mean I'd love to see more of my country but it is too difficult and expensive to do so, therefore I have to see the little bits of joy in my life even though it is so basic...

Thank you for that quote though...:)

  • Hmm thread's gone a bit quiet, time for a bump methinks! ;)

I'm working from home this morning (always a joy) so I'm sitting at my laptop in trakkies, hair unwashed, no make-up and feeling much more relaxed than usual for a Wednesday LOL:D. Had a 7.30 conference call but the rest of the morning is just for catching up. Off to the hospital this afternoon to get assessed for my cataract op, hoping that it's going to be soon. My boss has agreed to 2 weeks medical leave which may be over-egging my recovery time but hey if she's offering I'm taking (god knows they get enough unpaid overtime out of me).

Have a great Wednesday everyone! :D

    Hello everyone,

Hope you are all okay in this cold weather. Forecast is that we will get a big dump of snow on Friday/Sat, so I'm really, positively thinking (hoping) they've got it wrong.

    Positives for today:

Went to cs with big bag (including previously bought dress for DD - not bitter, honest:p)

FIL has just rung to say he would like to take us 5, plus his other 2 children and their families, to France for a week in August. He will pay for the gite, we will need to get our own crossing organised :D

DS2 is off school today with a tummy ache, so we are having a snuggly day. Might get the cross-stitch out later, seeing as I don't have to do the school run :j

Have a happy, positive day folks!

  • So freezing cold out there today, I felt very lucky to go home to a cosy house and get warmed up with a hot water bottle on my lap. :T
  • I did 2 good deeds today, within a couple of minutes of eachother :D

We were leaving the hospital car park after my appointment this afternoon and I handed our ticket with a over 2 hours left on it to a lady who was waiting for our space. She had a small child on the back seat who appeared to be kicking up a stink so she was very grateful for the respite from having to hunt down change for the ticket machine.

On the way out of the car park there was a man struggling to reverse out of his space due to a "white van man" parked opposite who seemed to think that double yellow lines didn't apply to him. He was holding up the traffic so I jumped out and waved him out of his space.

I am a firm believer in karma so I should get double back after today! :)
