Hi all.
Can i join in with this thread please?
i have been unemployed for 5 months, and am DETERMINED that i will get a job by the beginning of Feb.
I am going to have a total overhaul of my CV, work on interview techniques etc. I am SURE that my job is just around the corner0 -

He was already in hospital when he had it though, i felt better about that rather than an agonising wait at home for an ambulance. His temp yesterday just wouldn't come down, even with medication and i recognised a few of the signs that he may end up having a fit, plus his breathing wasn't good so he ended up in an ambulance to hosp when he had the fit 15 mins after arriving in A&E. They allowed him home last night after 6hrs of observation, he has a chest infection and is now on antibiotics plus full dosage of his blue inhaler. His temp is still up and down but we're managing it for now, then the anti b's should kick in soon and start to fight the infection.
Quite proud of myself for remaining calm but now all i want to do is sit and cry, i feel so helpless when he's ill
He now has to rest for a few days, he'll sleep on and off as the convulsions really take it out of him. Trying to stay on the positive side of things it will be nice to spend some alone time with him while he gets better, DH will sort the girls out because DS only wants me when he's poorly.
Sorry to put a downer on the threadAnother thing i'm going to do whilst sitting up at night when DS is sleeping is make some lists - i do love a list
Meal plans using up what we have, items that we need, DIY plans, monthly budgets etc. I got a shiny new notebook for xmas and i can't wait to start filling the pristine pages :j

Gosh, how horrible for you
Sending you hugs and wishing your poor DS a speedy recovery

But you DID stay calm and you know that you make a difference to your DS by being there when he's poorly so no need to feel helpless at all.
And thank God we can still rely on the NHS for when we really need itIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Thank you Tattooed_lady and Maryb. I know the NHS gets a lot of stick from people and the media but i have to say i cannot fault the care DS has received on his numerous visits and stays, plus follow-up care as an outpatient and with the community nurses. I'm very grateful we have our healthcare service
Bargain today as i found the cupboard we wanted for DH's office is in the sale, £35 down from £90 :T At the moment his work files are stacked up with our household files in a corner, it will make a big difference when they can all be tucked away out of sight. A few shelves need putting up top and then the little room will be finished. Then it's onto finishing odds and ends in DD1's room, few bits in DS's room and then onto the biggy - DD2's room which is currently a junk room and needs completely gutting.
Hope your DD finds another job asap JackieO

My positives for today, 3rd coat of paint on the bathroom ceiling and 3rd layer of repainting tiles.
Also have rescheduled our weekend to see nieces, they have chickenpox at the mo, so we are avoiding them! lolLight Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0 -
more positives:
am still staying away from food shops and eating well too, without difficulty. A big positive here as making space plus helping saving for something special
my tentative spinning, learning on a drop spindle is going well and have spun about 20 yards of yarn so far, thin, thicker and bobbly but pretty good really considering. Am doing some every day, using my merino felting tops. I`ll crochet it in a few days as a momento. I have much to learn and it is a really nice challenge. I may start saving for a spinning wheel later as there is some gorgeous fleece out there, well I have 500g of it, silky bluefaced leicester mixed with shades of fawn and brown from manx sheep, very gorgeous. Cost £15 and will make something stunning, in time but I need to get tensioning better and a spinning wheelwill go quicker. Drop spindle is highly recommended. Cost £7 and great fun. Very meditative in a way and relaxing
very cold weather coming (-20) as I posted on shtf thread, Can`t say too much but positively get stores in for then, could last for weeks with tonnes of snow
Am expecting a bright day today so 3 lots of washing blowing cheerily in the breeze today0 -

I recently bought an extremely lovely scarf woven from blue faced leicester wool - it's so soft. It's meant to be dusky pink but it's more browny, however I love it.
Being positive is so energising. Tires me out sometimes.
I have nothing to complain about on a serious level and only niggles to remind me that I'm human after all! :rotfl:0 -
I am quite a negative person usually but decided it was time to try positive thinking. I ordered a book called "Start your day with Katie" 365 affirmations for a year of positive thinking. My favourite so far is Jan 2 quote- Life is 10 per cent what happens to you and 90 per cent how you react to it. It is so thought provoking.
Sending you all positive vibes x btc0 -
What an excellent thread!! Thank you, JackieO, brill idea! I'm still reading through, but felt I had to add my two pennorth of positive planning!
2012 was a difficult year, to put it mildly, but I've already made some positive changes - a nice new haircut, deciding NOT to dye my hair but keep the lovely shine its got along with the greys, joining a new evening class to learn tai chi (I've wanted to do this for ages!).
In addition, I AM going to get to bed earlier at least one day in three (no way I'll manage every day, but that's a start!) and I'm trying to use my keep fit machine for 15 to 20 mins every other day. I'd like to lose some weight, but I feel so much better in myself, and much more positive, when I'm exercising regularly so I shall make that my aim.
Would like to be able to move back into work of some kind this year, so am looking into voluntary work too.
Finally, aim to spend a bit more time on crafts this year.
What a positive start!! I shall do my best to keep it up, and keep telling myself that if I have a bad day, there's always tomorrow! :T
Very best wishes to all of you, you are all truly INSPIRATIONAL, and I'm honoured to hear your wonderful ideas!!!!!!!!Wilson the Volleyball is one of Hollywood's most loved volleyballs. His glittering career started when he became the only companion of Tom Hanks' Chuck Noland in Cast Away. Many say this is Wilson's best performance and he couldn't have given a better effort.0 -

I absolutely agree wholeheartedly with that and what happens is that the good energy comes back to you so continuing the good cycle. You can also visualise a bubble of white light around yourself, a bubble that can repel negativity away from you, like a hidden shield which keeps you safe from negative vibes
I so recommend learning to hand spin for a relaxing hobby. I undid the work I did because I want finer, more even yarn and finally achieved that last night. Now I want to build that up to spin enough for a pair of gloves. It is so cheap for a hobby. Dh can see my fast progress and is already telling me to look for a spinning wheelbut I want to get lots more experience on a spindle first as it is something I can teach my grandchildren. Another upside is that I am making constant little movements instead of just sitting and a bigger one is that I don`t think of snacking
A lovely day coming up on wednesday0
