I love fruit and fibre but don't touch it anymore because of the high added sugar in it.

If a cereal contains 12.5 gramms of sugar or more per 100g of cereal then it is considered HIGH

Fruit and Fibre is 24g

I have cornflakes now which are 8g sugar per 100g.
With SW being a balanced all round eating plan 35G of fruit and fibre is perfectly acceptable where as cornflakes aren't due to a very low amount of dietry fibre.

Plenty of other ways to get enough fibre per day without having it doused in very unhealthy levels of refined sugar.

Do you think some of the high sugar levels could be due to the dried banana and sultanas? I pick out the banana bits an only eat the flakes and sultanas in it.

    Morning All

    Extra Easy today

    B - porridge (HEB)
    L - jacket spud, beans & salad
D - egg, sausages, bacon, mushrooms & tomatoes
S - muller yog, nectarines, apple

    HEA = milk for tea/coffee

can anyone advise me on syns for sausages (2xthick ones)? have got old green/red book. am guessing 6 each??

    El
Depends on the brand, if they are full fat, none fancy then 5 or 6 syns is the norm.
Skinny Lizzies are 1 syn each (Morrisons) 1.99 last I bought them.
Tescos do a reduced fat Lighter choices Cumberland that comes in at 1/2 syn each slightly spiced 2 packs for 4.50 last purchase.
M&S have some rather nice low fat sausages that are 1 syn a throw. £4 for 2 packs.

Would be interested to know what fellow posters have for their lunch as I'm finding it hard to plan synfree lunches meaning I'm wasting syns :(

At home... homemade beefburgers with wedges/salad. Special Fried Rice - quick and easy. (Packet of syn free rice, cooked and left to dry...veg and an egg. )
Out, thermos of pasta, bolognese, or salad if out in summer. Pita pockets, mini home made pizzas (syn allowed for base and h.e. for cheese)

Thanks Steff for the heads up at aldi on the bacon too.
  • Just had to add some flour and water to the stew as it was rather runny i used about 2 tea spoons! would that up the sin number?

I was the same! I used to get awful indigestion and heartburn and I stopped eating bread when I started SW (my choice, I know I can have it if I want it) and I have had neither since. It is like magic!

You could try it for a week (tell yourself it's a medical experiment;)) and see how you feel and also how much weight you've lost!!

I had a ciabatta (sp?) roll a couple of months ago because we were out and it was that or nothing and within half an hour I was burping and had awful heartburn. I wouldn't risk it again.
  • Hi all

I've been reading through the thread for the last few days now and want to post to help keep me motivated.

I rejoined SW after a 6yr absence and OMG I can't believe how different things are:eek:. 8 syns in a large wine!!!!!

I've been writing everything down to take to class on Wednesday as I fee I haven't lost anything at all.

    Today I have had:
B - fruit salad (melon, grapes, rasberries, blueberries), FF yoghurt
L - 1 slice WW 400g bread (3), 2 slices of grilled bacon with all fat removed
D - grilled cod in soy sauce, boiled baby potatoes, chopped cucumber, grated carrot and baby beats

Snacks - Walkers stars (4.5), Hartleys jelly pot (0.5)

If I get peckish later I will have 2 Weetabix (B) with SS milk (A) to tide me over.

This is a typical Monday for me as I'm at home. Can anyone see anything I can improve on?

At last check 4.5 for SR and 5 Syns for plain - 28g. If I was to guestimate 1tblspn would be around 10g so if you just added one tablespoon I'd look to count 2 - 3 syns.
