Flat Eric~ I have tracked down the magazine that had the article about Nadia Saqwalha & her diet chronicles. It was in last Sunday's Mail on Sunday & was also in yesterdays though I dident buy it.
Her main 10 points are :-
Dont fall for the quick fix
    Eat yourself slim
    Induldge yourself
    Cook for one
    Get moving
    Be prepared
    Make it last
    Be drink aware
    Don't beat yourself up.

Hopefully if you google it you will find it.
The article was called The diet chronicles of Nadia & it was in the 'You' magazine.
There were recepies too so should give you an idea of what they were like.

I have a lot of soups (which you can take or leave, i heart my soup), savoury rice with veg and meat, pasta salad with FF vinagarette, baked potatoes, Lentil dahl with rice, Spanish omelette/fritatta, Curry and rice, or leftover dinners which are endless. We always cook more than one portion so there tends to be leftovers for my lunches :D I use to take couscous salad but it makes my stomach swell up

As you have an Extra B doing green or red, are you not making a sandwich for lunch? Club sandwich would be good :) Egg mayo with bacon and onion, the possibilities are endless! :j

For breakfast i sometimes have bacon and toast, I cook up the bacon and keep in the fridge, so i just need to toast bread ., and ding the bacon for ten seconds in the micro to make it hot again. Its a good way to be prepared on the run as i have very little time to spare in the mornings.

On a sunday i stop and think - ok i need to sort lunches. So ill make something up for mon - wed usually (soup, savoury rice, any of the above), and portion it out so i just need to lift it. Every night i set out my fruit (beside my work ID) to lift in the morning so im just throwing things in a bag and not thinking :) Come wed night, i sort something for thu & fri whether thats leftover dinner or another good lunch option.

if i didnt do my organisation, i would go any buy rubbish and eat junk. If i feel tempted during the day, i tell myself to eat all the food i have with me, then see if i still want treats.

I keep my syns for evening time bar the odd one or two, as i like to have a cup of tea and treat at night time.

i guess its a matter of finding out what works for you. on friday i wrote a dinner meal plan for the week, saturday i went shopping for it all, then did up some cooking so i have very little cooking to do now. Dinner is SW chips and bean lasagne - lasagne was frozen from a previous batch cook, and the chips were made yesterday so just need thrown in the oven.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Have you measured out your milk for today to see if the cup of tea you have had is from your daily allowance of 250ml? Otherwise you would have to syn any extra milk you use semi skimmed is 2.5syns per 100ml.
What size loaf would you bread have come from? 800g loaf would be 4 syns a slice if medium slice or 3 syns from a 400g loaf.
You would need to syn your oil which works out at 2 syns. So you still have syns to play with for the rest of the day.

  • I am having a bad day. I waved bye bye to DS1 this morning as he starts his new life in the RAF. At some point today, I hope to stop crying.

I love fruit and fibre but don't touch it anymore because of the high added sugar in it.

If a cereal contains 12.5 gramms of sugar or more per 100g of cereal then it is considered HIGH

Fruit and Fibre is 24g

I have cornflakes now which are 8g sugar per 100g.
