Thank you for the comments about inflammation. I had asked our stand in consultant if it made any difference at all october time when we had a stand in and was told no just that some meds 'could' slow loses down but if you were sticking to the plan properly and not comforting eating and going over your syns the weight should still come off steadily. So this is quite reassuring. I do have psoriatic arthritis and im convinced i also have fibro although the gps here dont seem to give the label out till they have exhausted everything else - i certainly have the symptoms anyway. But persevere i will and shift this darn weight!

I can 100% say my inflammation and being ill affected my losses, and caused random gains. It took me from June 2011 to August 2012 to lose 3-3.5. I have fibro here, hence the costochondritis and TMJ.

My journey was a rough one, and definitely impacted by my state of wellness. But, i got there in the end so do persevere and you will get there. I found doing too much walking stopped my weight loss too. Stopped the 3 mile walks, and stuck to cycling and that was the right balance. I guess it's just a matter of working out what works for your body.

Made the quorn lasagne tonight - really delicious. Added a heap of veg chopped up really tiny so not big intrusive chunks. The cabbage was nice, but would do it without the potatoes etc.

Gammon and veg soup is slow cooked, and turnip and carrots for tomorrow nights dinner. All about the veg at the minute. Making hassel back potatoes for tomo dinner. First time.

Have joined the gym, but haven.t been able to go to my classes due to the troubles over her. I'm smack bang in the middle of it.

Stef - stick with it. :A I feel your pain but it's so worth it.

TIE - i was losing half or one each week , despite eating a success express diet - purely due to lack of appetite and thirst for fruit.

As soon as i stopped the diclofenac (prescription anti inflammatories), i lost that 4lb. Couldnt believe it!

I sympathise with your pain. Hope it gets better soon. x

  • I'm going to my first slimming world meeting Tuesday night after bumping into someone who's been doing slimming world for about 8 weeks and looks fantastic. From the bits and pieces I've read online and in one of the magazines I bought, I think I've a rough idea of the rules. I've changed to semi skimmed milk from whole milk, and have started buying nimble bread, muller light yogurts, mugshots and batchelors savoury rice. Is there anything else I need to stock up on.

I too have the costochondritis , had it all my life and found out its caused by being born with fused ribs, which showed on my MRI. It's such a painful condition as you know and makes exercise difficult. I use the ibuprofen gel which means no pills for it and it really helps.

Last year I slipped a disc, which also stopped me exercising or moving at all, so feel very sorry for he lady with the slipped disc, have you tried crutches? They helped me a lot.
    Kindness costs nothing :)
  • Had a lovely last family night last night, before DS1 leaves tomoro to join the RAF. We all had steak, SW chips (which everyone enjoyed) and salad. DH made a Quark cheesecake which turned out to be 5.5 syns a portion and I thought it tasted no different from any other homemade cheesecake-result! It was a good night, and we played some board games. Am still absolutely dreading tomoro tho :(:(

Anyhow, had 2nd weigh in this morning. -2lb, making my total loss since New years day, 7lb....yes half a stone :j
I am happy with my progress, and have tried some lovely new SW recipes too.
Off to work soon, have a lovely day everyone :)
  • Morning all

Great losses sharalee99 I was going to click 'thanks' but there's no thanks button for me on your post :S

Ok so last night at the carvery bf's mum bought a bottle of wine for me and her to share - I just can not say no to her! (grrr!)
They have however taken my favourite pudding (and my only real reason for ever wanting to go there) off the menu :( so syns went on 2.5 small glasses of rose instead - taking me to about 20 for the day (wiser food choices due to wine at least!)

Bah, now going to stick as closely as possible to 5/6 for the next 4 days. Plenty of walking etc and hopefully it will be ok and I will have then 2lb loss I am dying for on Wednesday.

    So on to today:
b: not feeling hungry yet but will have bran flakes (HeB) and milk (from HeA) and satsuma/s
s: not sure i will have any
L: hmmm i have some rice in the fridge so may just have that with some veggies added
t: cottage pie - will make whilst bf naps and sneakily make mine with quorn mince so it's on 2syns for gravy rather than 8/9syns for the whole lot

may have a mini milk (1.5syn) after tea :)

    tomorrow is a training day:
b: porridge (HeB of oats) made with 125ml water+125ml semi skimmed (1/2HeA)
L:hmm I'm think pasta and veggies and a satsuma or two. I tend to get snacky at training but recently I'm getting better as I have bits to be getting on with now.
t:spag bol. will do the usual and bulk my share out with veg and make in to 2 portions. 5.5 syn
will just drink the other 1/2 of my HeA before bed.

Hmm will try and plan ahead for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning later today as we are away Friday afternoon till Sunday :)

It's been interesting reading about the medication and weightloss. I've been on antibiotics and anti inflammatories since Christmas eve and I am really struggling to lose weight, I will be looking at another gain next week the way the scales are going at the moment even though I have been completely on plan and walked over 70 miles this week!

It is so frustrating, i've never struggled to lose weight on slimming world so I don't really know what to do, I am 1/2lb out of my target range so will have to start paying. I suppose stick with it and hope for the best?!
