Well, had an unexpected visitor right before WI. Yes folks - star week has arrived. I always have a sneak peak on my scales as they are bang on with leaders scales and for the last three days I'd been showing up that I'd lose 2lbs, woke up this morning and had gained 2 in fluid so unsurprisingly, sure enough, I'd maintained. My stomach is so bloated.
Since the weekend, I'd been feeling really slim and good and last night had lots of - "OMG...you've lost weight haven't you?" comments and it ended up everyone was calling me Skinny as a nickname. So basically, I was still happy and wasn't going to let Mother Nature's way of knocking me down a peg or two get to me. I know I'm getting happier with my body and I can finally look at myself and feel please rather than feeling dread and reaching for my baggiest clothing.
Then - I got to meeting. I explained before WI that its Star Week so I wasn't expecting a loss. The helper says I did really well to maintain & to her that meant I'd probably have lost fat. She made a note on my book and for leader that it was Star Week - I saw her do it.
Leader hands me back my food diary, you know the one where I had lost 1.5lbs? She'd written right across the top, "WATCH THOSE SYNS!!!". I'd had 2 14.5 days, 1 12.5 days and the other days were all under 10 syns (7.5 etc). And I'd lost. So what exactly was the problem? Did she not remember when I followed her advice, stuck to 7 syns, lost nothing and felt like jacking it in when she made out I must be doing something wrong? So I was a bit miffed.
Then - in meeting, she comes to me. "Miss I, why have you maintained this week?" Me: "Yeah, its not food related so I'm actually fine with it. I had a good week. Its not really my fault." She gave me this stare. "So its not food related?" Me, "No............its *mouths it* star week". I was embarassed as I didn't want everyone to know, 1/3rd of the meeting are men. "Oh, star week, it's star week" she says, imitating how i'd mouthed it to each corner of the room! So needless to say everyone laughed...
A girl actually walked out today because the leader made too much of a big deal. She had maintained but she had been out for the day with her children and hubby and they had fast food and she felt this was why she had maintained. The leader went on and on about how she didn't have to eat with them. She replied saying she wasn't going to sit there and watch her family eat while she had nothing. Leader kept persisting, "well, what could she have done differently?." All these other Mum's started saying, "I've sat in McD's and just had a coffee!", "I always take a packed lunch just for myself" and then it got on to, "Well my children don't have fast food in the first place. When we are out for the day I always make homemade." It was obvious the lady was feeling picked on and she said, "My kids were off school, my husband and I were both of work. That never happens. I wanted to enjoy eating together. It was a one off. I didn't gain. I've lost every week. But if I can't have the occasional day out, this diet isn't for me." Leader started going, "We are just trying to help! Who else has advice?". Then they were all going on again, completely missing the ladies point that sometimes we all need a day off and eventually she made an excuse and left. I felt really sorry for her.
Aggy you'll be ok, just get back on the horse. I know what you mean about the boob thing. One of the downsides to my weightloss is that men are looking at me like I'm walking around naked and they want to eat me and they don't half make it obvious do they? I suppose you have to take it as a compliment but it makes me feel a little squeamish.
Aliasojo Welcome! I agree with Blodwen, start with the 15 syns as your upper threshold and if you find you aren't losing at any point, then start to cut down. At one point, on my leaders suggestion I cut down to 7 syns and lost no weight. The following week, I had closer to 15 syns and lost. So I find my weightloss stalls if I don't have my syns. But its different strokes for different folks so figure out what works for you. And stay away from the Graze boxes lol!0 -
Miss I - your consultant sounds like a right cow - i would seriously complain to head office - she shouldn't be embarassing anyone & definately not telling people off when they are happy with why they have maintained - surely the consultant should know that - she must have been there
I am really mad for you - feel like i want to slap your consultant around the face!
Well done on the maintain & for not feeling down because of mother nature0 -

Thanks, Nessie. She is a big personality and I don't think she understands how off-taking her sense of humour can be. I don't honestly think she is a nasty person, I think she just wants massive weightlosses every week and, in her mind, she probably thinks she is being super motivating. But she is actually being super rude and super patronising!
She makes some good points and I'd rather go to her than to the first consultant who just couldn't be bothered at all.
I have to laugh, this morning my Mum said - "You'd better cheer up! She'll be asking what's wrong with your face" (leader's usual line to me). I said, "Why? What is wrong with my face?" and she told me I looked really petrified. It was because I was worried about the leader coming to me!".
The way I look at it is that I've only got 8 lbs to go to get to my target, so I won't have to put up with her much longer. I'll be moving in September so I will join a new meeting as a target member.0 -
Miss I
I'm mad for you as well! Ridicule is never a good way to raise a laugh. The other members probably didn't want to laugh but its easy to just join in. How on earth is she going to get anyone's self esteem up treating them like that. I know what it's like only too well cos ive dont this you try to look for their good points to excuse the bad behaviour.
I've walked out of other clubs before due to stares and unhelpful comments
It takes a lot of courage to walk through those doors. Some overweight people have had enough bullying in their lives. Either ridicule not being believed or passive aggressive. This plan does not mean you can't ever have family day out or celebration again!
At my club I think there is a bit of a clique and the leader talks to them for ages then they get up and say they can't stay to hear others. I may be wrong but if it continues I will be saying something.
One was talking when I was getting advice. I simply stopped and stared at her. The leader at least asked if people could listen to others.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

WI today and 3lb loss so got Club 10 sticker, thought I'd get a free week but realised got to lose or maintain for 10 weeks to get it! Hopefully be at target by then so free anyway!
Miss I, I'd be upset if my consultant was like yours, hopefully you'll be at target soon and can move to new group in September.0 -

Have gained about 5 lbs over the past few months and I'm not happy. It's only an odd half or a pound here and there and a few maintains or weeny losses in between.:(
I tried SO hard and lost the weight you see below but then I stopped losing. I stuck with it and because I couldn't work out what was going wrong I then started to feel disheartened and had an odd bit of cheese, a cracker and a bit more low fat custard than I should, maybe an extra bowl of cereal now and again and gradually the weight has gone on. So I don't pig out on takeaways or bars of chocolate, it's just bits here & there but they all add up.
I am fine with things I cut out completely - this might sound odd but I know what I mean! Like I never eat bread, biscuits, crisps, sugar, alcohol, icecream etc. I have skimmed milk and Muller yoghurts and eat loads of fruit and veg, salads, lean meats, fish etc.
I do EE. I cycle and walk quite a bit but even when I do loads of exercise in a week I never los more weight. I'd like to lose another stone but it should probably be a good couple of stones TBH, although I don't think I'll ever get down that far.0 -
Hi Pennylane do you go to a club or are you going it alone? You have lost 1st 9. 05 lbs that's fantastic. You've just lost your mojo a bit.
Take it easy for the last stone, go the scenic route. It may take you longer but you will get there. It's not a race your health gas improved with the weight you have lost so far. I've done what you do in the pasti give myself extras of food that's allowed resulting in weight gain. You are just self sabotaging for the moment. Maybe take a walk around a nice clothes shop and look at the lovely summer clothes that's in. Hopefully that will help to get your A into G again. Don't bother if it would not help of course. You can't be far off goal then if its only a stone your after. 1lb a week in 14 weeks you will be there...good luck.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Someone might come in with just the answer for you. Maybe just your body adjusting or maybe you need a change from the usual food eee I hope you find the way keep posting it all helps your fellow SWers”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
