Good to see you back DD. It could well be that your body is a week behind, though sometimes we do just put on for no reason (see my rant from Tuesday!). I agree with Maman about eating enough and eating your syns though. You've done brilliantly so far though, well done!

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time Aggy. It's so tempting to miss WI when we know we haven't been good but the best thing you can do is get back into it now and face the scales next week. Well done on facing your fears, that's a big step and sounds like you're doing really well. Ignore the bloke, men are clueless ;)

Aliasojo - Extra Easy is the one that is pushed at class but as you read there is red (original) and green to choose from as well. It depends what you like to eat - if you're veggie or don't eat much meat then green is good, if you're a big meat eater then red, or if you like meat and carbs together then EE. You can also vary it depending on your plans or just what you fancy to eat. For example, I tend to do EE most weekdays with maybe a green day if I fancy some extra bread and cheese (as you get 2xA and 2xB healthy extras on red and green instead of 1 of each on EE) or if I know I won't be having meat anyway. If I'm planning burgers for tea I'll do red as get to use the HEs for the bread rolls and cheese. With EE you should have 1/3 of your food as superfree (most fruit and veg) and this isn't specified on red and green although I would say it's a good idea to try and get it in. Saying that, I have odd green days where I won't have much veg and I don't feel I have to because it's not compulsory, but that's one reason why I do mainly EE, because it makes me get the full amount of SF in. Hope that makes sense - ask away if you have any more questions! :)

Edit - bah, beaten to it! :rotfl:

Free foods are generally lean meat, poultry & fish & seafood (minus fat, skin & sauces), dried pasta & rice & some dairy (quark, most fat-free yoghurts & low fat cottage cheese).
    Healthy extra a's are milk & cheese, Healthy extra b's are bread/cereal, cooked/dried fruit & seeds/nuts & some soups.

    Thanks jinny, much appreciated. :)

Ok, another question if anyone can advise please......I've got hold of a book - 'food optimising' and I bought this months SW mag and I've been doing some reading......but I've no idea what I should do. How do you decide between the different plans? Especially if you're as indecisive as me. :o

I wont be going to classes, I just need started off on the best route to take but I don't know what that is, lol.

Do I do the optimising thing or the easy thing or something else? I don't know what the main benefits of each are and this doesn't seem particularly well dealt with on the SW site, although I expect that's because they want you to join up and you get the nitty gritty then.

I'd be grateful for any thoughts?

Food Optimising is the slimming world way to eat

Extra easy would be best for you

But I would strongly suggest going to a group to get the first talk

In all seriousness you might be better off starting on 15, then you have somewhere to go if you need to reduce them at any point down the line (my consultant has said I may need to reduce mine a bit as get closer to goal )

Ok...one last thing.....has anyone got any links for downloadable SW charts for weight loss etc?

I found one but it's American and talks about 'Club 10' and 'PAT'. I might try to change the names later if I can't find anything more relevant.

I like charts. :D They appeal to my inner geek. :D

I havent got a link, but the English SW uses those terms too. Club 10 is achieved by losing 10% of your body weight, and I think PAT stands for Personal Achievement/Attainment Target, which you can set as your goal weight, whatever that may be. So the chart you've found may well already be relevant to the UK version. xx

We were always told to aim for 10 syns when you're new & that may catch all those items that you incorrectly assume are free/HEx's or lower syns than they actually are ;) Go for 15 if you like - that's what they're there for, but check everything you eat BEFORE you eat it ;)

Oh & stick to fresh fruit on your porridge ;)

Well that's it, I'm making today my official start date.

I've got a chart, I've taken 'before' pics, weighed myself, taken measurements, the lot.

I have the good grace to be embarrassed. :o

The image in the mirror is bad enough but the pictures are awful. I know there is some argument to be had about cameras and extra poundage but if that's how other people see me then I'm going to start wearing a Burka. At least until I shed some lard. :D

Thanks for all the help. :)
