weigh in last night, lost 2.5lb and got slimmer of the week! dead chuffed
we also had this 'taster evening' where everybody brought in something they've made that was either free or very low in syns. it was so good because I tried some really tasty stuff that I'm going to try and make myself at home now. particularly liked chickpea dahl loaf, slimming world chipsand cheesy scones! enjoyed myself

I've said this before but I really wish that Slimming World had chosen the wording of their plan a little more wisely:eek:
Even my consultant says there should be a limit on free foods and a stronger indication of portion sizes etc......................
i eat lots of potatoes
i eat lots of rice
and i also eat lots and lots of pasta and or noodles .. i also lose on avergae 3lb a week ...
what works for one does not necessarily work for another and you have to find what your body type will take
i also think as soon as you start worrying about portion sizes et al your less inclined to stick to any healthy eating plan/diet
also quick question ... do you have your 5-15 syns a day? ...

You are a bloke. Its a well known fact that men lose more (and quicker) than women do.
i DONT worry about portion sizes BUT i dont eat 100g of rice or pasta at a time. I tend to have around between 40-50g for both. If i didnt weigh i would double the portion for certain.
I dont bother weighing spuds though. They are pretty good for you and are a vegetable.

I'm going to stick up for rob on this one - when i first started (& actually following the plan) i only used the green days - purely for costs  and never weighed my rice or pasta or pasta & lost 4st in 9months
It doesn't matter whether you are a man or not - just depends on your body - what make you fuller for longer - what you like to eat without it feeling like a chore & how much you have to loose in total
Off my soap box now
Not doing that well SW wise recently - but averaging just under 1/2lb on per week
Another scan on Monday so miss a week at groupbut found out why i haven't been paying recently - as i set target & being pregnant SW assume u are at target throughout the duration of the pregnancy - so i don't have to pay
Positive note - i actually had 2 days completely on plan which is amazing for me (at the moment)but then twinks hobnobs got in the way
Well done all you loosers & hugs to those struggling - you will get through it Promise!0 -
I've been there - when I started slimming world I was eating more than I usually ate and was literally stuffing myself with things like fruit and yogurts just beause I could as they were free - even though I wasn;t hungry.
Personally I found I need to watch my carb intake and amount of sugars that I'm eating. I do have carbs everyday I just have small portions of them fruit is something else that I try to not overdo just because its free due to the amount of sugar contained in it. I no its not what SW would recommend but I do also look in the calories in things and stick to around 1500 a day.
I've lost 22 lbs in 8 weeks (with one gain of 2lbs during a PMT week).
Knowbody knows your body better than you and we all have different things that make us put on and loose weight - my advice would be to try and see what works for you. Once I got my head around not eating just for the sake of it or because something was free I started to do a lot better.

Thanks, I am feeling a bit better now, although the painkillers have probably helped! I have heard about the WW pittas but tbh have never had them- they look quite small when I've seen them and more importantly, I can get 2 packs of Asda's own for the price of 1 pack of WW! I only have about 1 every 1-2 weeks so am not worried by the fact that they are no longer technically a HEBfireyfirenze wrote: »weigh in last night, lost 2.5lb and got slimmer of the week! dead chuffed

aggy - I personally would avoid chocolate at the moment, especially if i was struggling. Just try and keep in mind that the chocolate doesnt dictate your choices. YOU DO. Try & be stong. Make a list of all the pros & cons of eating chocolate brings. I suspect you will find that the negatives far outweigh the positives. Dont give up.
thanks, I need a good talking toI wont give up .

I agree with bits of all of this. I think being a bloke definitely helps but some women can 'get away with' eating more too. I do weigh my pasta, mainly because I am rubbish at estimating amounts, and I have somewhere in the middle of the examples RFD gives- 60-80g. What one person might think is a lot, another wouldn't, so two people might both say they eat loads of pasta but the amounts could vary wildly. Personally I think the key is knowing your own body and being sensible- SW saying you can eat unlimited food is both true (as it isn't limited as such) and also a bit of a red herring, probably to draw people into joining, because if someone just kept eating and eating all day they most likely wouldn't lose. As I say, common sense is the key2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
