  • What exactly is quark and what does it taste like?
I handnt though of getting frozen berries, its a good idea, as for other frozen fruit,ie, strawbs etc, I imagined that they would turn out too WET as they defrost?
I am finding it hard to decide on Hex a or b, I need milk for my coffees as I couldnt do without, I love a bit of cheese, and want my syns for other things! I wonder if I can have half milk allowance, and a tiny half portion oc cheese to grate on toast, and still leave my syn allowance. Might try skimmed instead of semi milk.
I over did it with a bag of crisps again, so I will not buy them again.
After years of it being unavaiable in UK, my fave ever choc is back in the shops Grr! I didnt give in, but all last night,I had a vision of it floating in front of my eyes.:)
Its Cadburys tiffin, its small square bar, so I doubt if its in any syn list, being just newly out. they have the other varieties too.. mmm!
Might get one as a special Sat night treat:) but will it set me on a downward spiral?

Quark is basically fat free cream cheese. It is fairly bland. I actually like it, but I tend to use it in cooking e.g. pasta rather than in sandwich :)

  • Today has not been good. Had to have an emergency Dr apt after being floored by sudden, intense, back pain. The Dr thinks it is either a pulled muscle or a small kidney stone - so basically I have to rest (no Wii for a little bit), painkillers (aka paracetamol) & plenty of fluids (mother has informed me I can ONLY have water!).
    So joy to that.
Not least as come Monday I am due to be on A/L & I'm sure there are some scrotes at work who will think I'm trying to pull a fast one & extend my holiday :( Instead of looking at the fact that I often go into work when feeling unwell & I almost always get ill whenever we actually go away - just call me lucky :(

so menu ... & yup it is completely pants

    b - sleep
l - at dr's & generally feeling sick so nothing
t - chicken & spinach pasta & salad (I didn't even want this but I was nagged into eating something because of taking paracetamol)
    s - hot choc (2), alpen light x 2 (HEB)

    *no exercise*

I think I will give quark a miss! sounds too yougurty lol

First WI tonight, lost 2 lbs which is fine as I am not very active. :j
Before the time to leave for the meeting I got a really down mood, and grabbed 2 biscuits ! I got in the car then halfway phoned DH to buy me a tiffin for tonight as I was depressed. I stayed for the full meeting and felt a bit better- bought some hi fi bars , so told hubby to hide the tiffin from me.
Now he wants to try a hi fi bar and I said NO as they are expensive:rotfl:

There was a very young girl in the group who has lost over a stone, she could only be about 11. well done to her.

  • hi all,
not been on for a week or so as I am SO disappointed with my situation.
I have religiously stuck to plan, done an hours work out on the wii every day and found out that I have GAINED 6lbs!!!! What the heck is going on?
I feel absolutely gutted and so did not go to class last night cos I felt shamed to death.
How could anyone actually believe that I had stuck to plan?
I felt as though I would be judged to be a liar so I couldnt face it.
Needless to say I have tonight made a doctors appointment for tomorrow afternoon to hopefully discuss my situation and see if he can throw any light on it.
Anyone else got any ideas as to what has gone wrong for me?
Well done to all the losers and hugs to the strugglers, (like me ).

i'm sticking to plan & also seem to be gaining at mo :( but it will prob even out with losses later on. And if you have put on muscle, this weighs more than fat & apparently you can't lose weight and put on muscle at the same time, it is one or the other?

Also different scales weigh you differently. My Dr's scales weighed me much lower than my Wii.

Also your weight can vary +/- 2lbs in a day due to fluids etc.

So best to try to stick to 1 WI a week, on the same scales, wearing same/similar clothes, at same time of day & you should get a more consistent reading x

I feel your pain GT. I find that the weeks I exercise more are the weeks that I gain and I have no explanation for it.

    The only thing I can suggest is that you drink more water, cut down on caffeine if you drink it and up the veggies. Other than that I have no advice but sending you {{{{{{hugs}}}}}

  • A great day yesterday until supper time. I changed by lunch and supper around so was meant to have a tuna pasta salad before going to the supermarket. I got as far as cooking the pasta but couldn't be ar**d to open the tuna and chop the veg!!!! Instead I chopped up a couple of HB eggs I had in the fridge and mixed it with some techina - not a vegetable in sight!!!

I did have a lot of fruit yesterday though and a lot of cabbage at lunchtime so probably overall I was OK for the day on my 1/3.

Started today at 5.15 with an hour's walk before the sun came up. Was absolutely knackered when I got back and dripping - it's really humid even at 6am!

Going to hit the kitchen today and get some cooking done for the week but menus for today and tomorrow already planned are -

    Friday
bfast vegetable fritta, 45g mozzarella (HEA)
lunch tuna pasta salad, 1 tblspn light mayo (2), 1 tblspn technina (2.5)
snacks fruit, 2 slices WM bread (HEB), HB eggs, vegetables
dinner spiced carrot & lentil soup, chicken casserole (SW mag Jan 2009 - pg 49), basmati rice, Israeli salad, 1 tblspn techina (2.5)

    Saturday
bfast Israeli salad, HB eggs, 1 tblspn light mayo (2)
lunch Mediterranean lasagne (45g mozzarella) (HEA), green salad, 1 tblspn techina (2.5)
snacks 2 slices wm bread (HEB), fruit, roasted cauliflower, vegetables
dinner salad, spiced carrot & lentil soup

  • aggypanthus: Quark isn't yoghurty. The stuff I get is just like cream cheese. Not as creamy but spreads the same. It makes good syn free cheese flavouring and butter-icing too ;)

Gettingthere I hope you find an answer.

doinkthemonkee - might be nothing more than too much wii. Personally I wouldn't give a toss about the workmates, right now. Get better! :D

Was this on your own scales then? I agree with Doink, you could get significantly different results at different times of the day and on different scales. Could it be hormonal? I have put on 4-6lbs when * week is due, admittedly may not have been 100% on plan but not far off it. Always came off the next week.

Hi all, please can I join you? I've done SW on & off for the last 11 years (old skool!) but I need to go back since having my daughter I've hit my highest ever weight & need to lose 6 stone :(

Can anyone tell me how much classes are these days? It'll be a struggle as I'm not earning at the moment, but I need the discipline of the class & weigh in.

I really want to do JUST the green plan but as I'm not veggie will they let me? I've never got my head around EE & there's only so much salad I can stomach :( I have lost 3.5stone in 5 months on green before so I know it can work on it's own.

    Thanks, C xx

Hi Catt, it would be worth finding out if your GP does referrals as you can get 12 weeks free through that. The GP has to think it will benefit your health to lose weight but if you have 6 stone to lose you should be eligible, not all practices do it though. Worth checking as worth £60 :) EE is pushed these days but no reason why you can't just do green, it's up to you which plan you follow - maybe telling a little white lie and saying you're veggie would help as EE shouldn't be pushed as much then. Saying that, I never got EE until this time around and love it now, although do alternate between the 3 plans. I would say try and keep your superfree up as much as possible even if doing green though as it does help with losses. Good luck!

    * week finally arrived, woohoo! Wasn't too happy about cramps waking me up at 4.45 though - got up to take painkillers and make a hot water bottle and ended up staying awake, did read my new SW mag though :) Had breakfast at normal time but am hungry again already, going to be one of those days I think but will just have to fill up on drinks as only have what I have brought to work, just as well really!

    EE today:
    B: Berries, yogurt, 2 weetabix (B), syrup (3), milk (A)
    L: Veg soup, apple
T: Thai red chicken curry (1), rice
    S: Pineapple, Freddo (5), possibly half a pitta (3.5)

Anyone have any diet-friendly plans for the weekend? Planning some gardening on Sunday and also a bike ride (still haven't had to the courage to ride to work but I WILL next week!). Having my hair cut tomorrow too so might lose a few ounces there :rotfl:

    Happy Friday folks :D

    Morning all :D

Reasons to be chuft, and smiley this morning :-

    1 - Its Friday
    2 - Its payday
3 - The sun is out
4 - I managed 2 days only using 2 syns per day (meaning i can have wine & a dairy milk on saturday night without feeling too guilty)

I was going to have thai chicken curry last night but in the end i stopped myself from buying more produce i had no need to buy (as i have plenty in the freezer/fridge/cupboards) so instead i had chicken, spring onions, new potatoes, mushrooms and peppers cooked in soy (dark & light)sauce, 2 tblsp of balsamic, Worcestershire sauce & chinese 5 spice. Tasted quite nice (although random to have spuds in)..

I did feel peckish not long afterwards and felt the urge to "snack" so ended up making some SW sweet potato chips which sorted me out.

anyway EE for me again today -

B - mushrooms, and turkey rashers with SW Quiche
L - Cauli topped quorn mince cottage pie ( hex a cheese)
D - beef marinaded in soy and 5 spice, going to frylight off some spring onions, ginger , more peppers, mushrooms. Served with rice. Small side salad - rocket, shredded carrot and shredded cucumber

Snacks - hi fi bar (hex b), milk (2 ), half a dairy milk (5.5) thrown in a muller toffee yoghurt (left to semi freeze) , an apple, some raspberries and a fresh blueberry milkshake (out of the 100ml allowance above) ( 2? - will check in my book)

Pleased with my menu today..i am really looking forward to my dinner and the milkshake :)
