Morning all x just read a weeks worth of posts fab losses and amazing support! I lost a pound yesterday in group taking me to 9lb off in May which im really pleased with, I joined a dif group as was to involved in my regular group weighing everyone and giving advice as our consultant was snowed under personally sooo I upped and joined elsewhere this group is super focussed super busy and upbeat and after 4 weeks i know ive made the right decision for me..I'm 2lb off my 4 stone off again so am so chuffed.

Someone mentioned they Still don't count pitta breads as syns I'm sure the ww ones are heb again now or 1 brand are x

Someone also mentioned some supplements for dodgy knees I can't remember who soery I'm crap ! Can anyone advise one and best place to get them from they're fine at mo and can only get better losing weight..

Wow Cariad you're doing great! Just shows that the right group can make all the difference. Re. pittas - that was me, I still use the Asda wholemeal ones which used to be HEB but aren't now, possibly because they have gone up by 0.5 syns. I don't have them often, less than once a week, but just count it as B+0.5. Haven't seen the WW ones but I imagine they are more expensive than Asda's own (2 packs for £1 - I buy 2 at a time and freeze them)

ETA: correction, Asda wholemeal pittas are now 7 syns, not 6.5, so B+1.

Re. knees- that was me too! I take glucosamine + chondroitin sulphate and omega 3 enhanced cod liver oil. I used to work in arthritis research and omega 3s are great for preventing cartilage breakdown. I think glucosamine has been discredited a bit due to lack of research (my mum used to get it on prescription for her arthritis but they stopped prescribing them because they said there was a lack of evidence of effectiveness) but some of the groups we used to collaborate with had some good results, and if I can get them cheap I'd rather take them than not. I get mine from Healthspan, although am using some Holland and Barrett Omega 3s atm as got them on offer. My knee has started playing up over the last few days but is the first time since I really started losing weight, has definitely helped!

    Hello all

Great losses up there! I'm finding Quark very hard to get this weather! It was in my bigger Tesco and now they seem to have stopped doing it - annoying.

Check they haven't moved it- our Asda keeps putting it in different aisles, which is really annoying! Sometimes with the cheese, sometimes with the yogurt and always hidden away!
What exactly is quark and what does it taste like?
I handnt though of getting frozen berries, its a good idea, as for other frozen fruit,ie, strawbs etc, I imagined that they would turn out too WET as they defrost?
I am finding it hard to decide on Hex a or b, I need milk for my coffees as I couldnt do without, I love a bit of cheese, and want my syns for other things! I wonder if I can have half milk allowance, and a tiny half portion oc cheese to grate on toast, and still leave my syn allowance. Might try skimmed instead of semi milk.
I over did it with a bag of crisps again, so I will not buy them again.
After years of it being unavaiable in UK, my fave ever choc is back in the shops Grr! I didnt give in, but all last night,I had a vision of it floating in front of my eyes.:)
Its Cadburys tiffin, its small square bar, so I doubt if its in any syn list, being just newly out. they have the other varieties too.. mmm!
Might get one as a special Sat night treat:) but will it set me on a downward spiral?

Quark is like a soft cheese, a bit like Philadelphia but dryer as it's fat free. Tastes like fromage frais, quite sharp, but you can add sweetener/salt to it depending on whether you're using it in a sweet or savoury dish. I use it for loads of things - pasta sauce/lasagne topping, curry sauce, quiche (instead of cottage cheese), desserts...

There's no reason why you can't split your HEA, just make sure both halves are measured as it's easy to go over if only allocated a small amount.

Haven't seen tiffin for years, didn't know they had brought it back. You're right, it isn't in the syn database but if you have the NVs you could calculate it, or maybe use something like Fruit & Nut as a guide? That's 12.5 for 49g.

    Hi All :hello:

We my shred never happened last night, got home & found our 2 tonne of soil & 1 tonne of chips in the driveway, so instead of the shred, I shovelled 1 tonne of soil & wheelbarrowed round to the back garden, went out to deliver a birthday pressie, came home & shovelled & wheelbarrowed 1 tonne chips round to the back garden, boy am I sore today & I got told off when DH came in from work

Wow, that's some good going! More exercise than the shred I reckon! ;)
Bit gutted as have gained 0.5lb...my first ever gain and this is after being very hard on myself this week, following my leaders 7 challenge (7 SF foods, 7 SS foods and only 7 syns per day) and doing my Bronze Body Magic Award. This week I have felt deprived and moody - like I was on a diet (which I never felt before) and feel like I'm sick to my stomach of fruit and veg. Leader has suggested I try Success Express but I feel this would be harder for me and could lead to me jacking it in all together. I'd like to go back and just do the plan as is - this is the first week I've tried a harder option and its led to my first gain, I was losing before - if it ain't broke why fix it?

Leader has also said because I'm 9 stone 7 (and a nasty little half), I shouldn't eat more than 10 syns a day and I should never go up to 15. She is going to look closely at my food diary next week.

Well done on losses everyone and good luck for staying on track over the next week.

Do you normally use all your syns? If it has been working for you previously why change - as you say, if it ain't broke... SE would just be more of the same as last week if not stricter - sounds like your leader is focusing on one week rather than things as a whole, and if you feel deprived plus aren't losing then doing the same again sounds like a recipe for disaster. Some leaders come out with the most ridiculous things just to have an answer and avoid saying 'I don't know why this has happened' but you know yourself best so I would carry on as you were and ignore her :rotfl:

I am feeling stressed (a bit) about tomorrow. every fridays its " cookie friday" in our office courtesy of work ( basically work buys us 6/7 bags of bakery cookies) .

All very well and nice of them but i have always had an issue when doing SW as of course the temptation is there right under my nose. On top of the cookies its also friday which = weekend so lets have a treat for going to work. :wall:

I am trying to think of what i can do to combat the cookie temptations. The evening i will be ok with - i am thinking of making myself a SW Chinese out of a booklet that was supplied in a magazine earlier this year.

I dont know about anyone else but i struggle a bit more at weekends as the "routine"is broken so sometimes breakfast is missed or it will be a "brunch" instead. Then i like a tipple on sat nights - i dont really ever go out but i do like a wine or 2 in front of the TV ! Do you think it would be ok to "make up" for yesterdays lack of syns on saturday night instead?

I know technically you are not supposed too..

    ?

personally i am not a fan of quark..i find it tasteless and more like yoghurt than a soft cheese. I have recently tasted the lake district company variety which is for sale in Morissons and its by far the best i have tasted so far.

ooh just noticed they have other flavours - lemon & vanilla as well.

I've used syns that I've saved up during the week for drinks at the weekend since I've started at slimming world. I've only had a gain one week out of 8 now and in total have 1 stone 7 .5 lbs off in 8 weeks so it certainley works for me. I was a big wine drinker before sw and have not swtiched to gin - although if you are only having a couple of glasses of wine its not so bad.

I would certainley use your syns like this and see if it works for you. I was really worried about this as well and was worried that I couldn't enjoy my weekends anymore - but I do I just don't stuff myself the whole weekend like I used too. I'll have a treat on saturday night normally and a few drinks and be on track the rest of the weekend - good luck :)

Loads of people save syns for the weekend and our leader has even said it's ok as long as low syns doesn't make you feel deprived through the week, so I wouldn't worry :)

Haven't seen this brand but the flavoured ones have been talked about in class- apparently they have some syns, can't remember how many, fairly low but you could add your own syn free flavourings.

If you use grated mozzarella you get 45g for HEA instead of 30g of most other cheeses so if you're doing half half with the milk you'd still get a good portion of cheese there.

Couldn't agree more MI - if it ain't broke why fix it - were you not losing before? If you were and just following the consultant's suggestion then I would just go back to what you were doing because it's obviously been working for you.

RFD - are you like me and once you start can't stop with the cookies or can you have one and then stop???? (never understood how that works!) If you can stop after one then allow yourself one (or even two) and count the syns (approximately) and then you won't feel guilty.

I know that Maman has got to target by using most of her syns at the weekend and several others do the same. When I do that I tend to gain weight so I try and use mine every day but just do what works for you - in other words try it and see and if it doesn't have an adverse affect then you know you're ok.

This was on the main news this morning MM..its a bit of a non starter IMO as this rule will only apply to new businesses. Takeways that are already operating can carry on as normal. This to me is a stupid way to go..what difference (in reality) is this going to make? I personally think not a lot.
