LOL :rotfl:I just came on to post that I had tried the mushy pea curry for dinner tonight and it was great. I was especially pleased that OH loved it which means we can both eat the same thing. I made it slightly differently as I used a packet of quorn pieces instead of chicken and added plenty of frozen mixed vegetables. I served with SW chips. Big thumbs up from us :T

Apologises for not reading on posting much for days. I really struggle in the working week as I also spend hours doing comps. I will read back through the thread over the weekend.

I have mostly been on plan this week. I was off plan at lunchtime today as my workplace run a charity cafe on a Friday. I had a cheese and onion toastie :o and some salad.

Wishing everyone a great bank holiday :)

Day 4 of my big big push & doing ok~ish.
Any thoughts on how many syns I should have this week?
Try to keep it to 10?
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Happy Friday all.

Is that ten a day or ten a week?:)

Interesting as there is a constant debate about the eating or not eating of syns! The two weeks that I lost I kept them to a minimum during the week and used them for alcohol at the weekend. The week I put on was the week that I ate 10 - 15 syns after day! Which only goes to show it is all different for all of us and you have to find the way that works for you!! :rotfl:

I think syns are there to stop people giving up because they feel deprived. I don't think that you must have them. Presumably if you can take or leave the alcohol, chocolate, extra cheese, crisps or whatever floats your boat then you don't have to eat them. I do wonder why anyone who doesn't use treats/syns got to be overweight in the first place??? Maybe when they made the decision to lose weight they decided to go 100% cold turkey. I knew when I started that if I had to give up wine completely then SW wouldn't work for me. Or put another way, I chose SW because I could still have wine as a treat. From our discussions on here it seems that SW works in different ways for different people. Maybe managing without treats/syns is a more route one way to lose weight. Great if that works for you.

An update on lunch with my SIL: she did effectively a roast with lamb steaks so it was a great SW meal (lamb, new pots, swede, cabbage, carrots) with only syns in gravy (which I'm sure was Bisto;)). I don't like mint sauce so no accompaniments for me. She did a pudding which was meant to be a trifle for DH (her brother) but turned out as jelly with fruit and cream. Lots of SFs in the raspberries and strawberries but also syns in cream and jelly. As anticipated, cake came out with the coffee later.:D Overall not too bad but I'll be back on plan tomorrow.

Thanks for the comments regarding the amount of food I eat people  some things to think about there, very interesting to read other people's thoughts, so thanks. I do think I should cut down, but I worry that as soon as I start limiting myself, I'll start bingeing again, and I'm trying really hard to stop doing that.

Was interested to read that Rob. Although I haven't hopped on the scales I know I must be around 13 stone. That's 3 stone over where I should be at 5ft 5in. Just because I've lost alot already, doesn't mean I can't lose the rest surely?

I had a friend who kept saying "you'll just have to realise that you're never goning to be stick thin" and although I don't want to be "stick thin" I don't think 10 st is beyond reach surely? That's hardly a size zero is it?

I may not have been 10 stone for a while, but I wasn't born fot. I ate myself fat. Surely science and common sense says I can get to any weight I chose, be that 10st, 9 st or even 8 st if I wanted to. I could be 4 st if I stopped eating alltogether, which obviously I wouldn't do, I'm just making a point. I realise that I'm coming across as stroppy Rob, I am sorry, I'm not being stroppy AT ALL, it's just hard to get that across unless you speak in person :D I genuinly want to chat about it and am interested to hear others view, so thanks xxx

About the SINS debate, I don't have SINS, although I really think you should. That's what healthy eating is all about isn't it. It stops you depriving yourself etc.

My trouble is, once I get a taste of a "yummy" I can't stop at 10 SINS worth. Eating 1 Freddo was never gonna be enough :o I wish I could play the "everyting in moderation" game, but I'm a greedy frog/pig, and I have no off switch.

Ok. I weighed myself. I'm the heaviest I've EVER been. I've got the basic books, but I can't afford to go to the meetings at the moment & with my shift work it isn't always a possibility anyhows (1 of the reasons I fell off the wagon last year).

But I've started. I'm 1 week in & I've lost 1lb. Bit disheartening, but it's better 1lb off than on & let's face it I'm about 10st overweight so it aint going to be a miracle or a sprint.

    I lie ... I'm 2 weeks in ... (dippy mare)

I'm a lot like that - no off switch. So am trying to keep to very low/no syns - I only really use them for options hot choc drinks & limit that to 2 a day & don't have every day.

A friend of mine very helpfully (not) told me that it was better for me to have CAKE than fruit! because of the amount of sugar in fruit! I'm guessing she assumed I would, like she does, stop at 1 slice of cake! .... :rotfl: Bless the innocent skinny bint.

I have not drunk for a long time my weight gain is a result of not being active due to health problems and eating more then my fair share of snack food i would buy a 12 bag of crisps and eat them in a day because they were easy to grab at , didnt involve any pain and were tasty

i didnt conciously make the descison to go cold turkey i just know that these things are simple to grab and if i buy a 12 pack of crisps i wont keep them for more then a day

so i dont buy them , i dont need them

yes your right you shouldnt deprive yourself of things occasionally and thats why sw is so good because you can have your cake and eat it ..as long as you follow the plan

    Hey Monkee :j

I too was 10 st overweight and I've lost 7 with SW, and although I did join the group initially just until I worked out what I was doing, I lost the majority on my own, and with the support of the gals and guys on here  You don't need to pay someone each week to weigh you if it's not your thing or money is an issue. I know lots on here think going to group is valuable, but it made me feel sick :o I hated being in their "fat club" with thickies who couldn't figure out for themselves that stuffing your face that 6 Cadburys Creme Eggs for breakfast wasn't clever. I didn't need someone to tell me that!
